The fact we got a brand new writer for Jdrama subverts my saltiness with how many similarities this shares with Kyoryuger. This could head in a very different direction! Zi-O is sadly suffering from the head writer to keep it from being as good as Build, so I'm hoping this guy delivers a story I can fully understand and enjoy!

Now that the name has been confirmed as "Ryusoulger", it's too bad the heroes' names aren't:
Tyrasoulger
Trikesoulger
Ankysoulger
Milsoulger
Tigersoulger

Or some variant therein.

Afraid so....many here were hoping for a knights and dragon...but I assume they wanted something more marketable. What I worry is, eventually people will tire of Dinosaurs....

Maybe push cars or racers or Trucks....ahem....Transforming Robotic Vehicles....lol

Lay off Dinosaurs for 10 years. How about large humanoid Robots instead...

It think you guys are kinda forgetting that there was a borderline ten year gap between the last dino-themed Sentai, Kyoryuger, and Abaranger which came before it.

It only seems like they're doing it a lot because of the time gap between this and Kyoryuger being smaller than before. On top of the fact that the series' popularity lead to the Korean sequel and the special moba tie-in episode which were also both recent. And even then it's been almost half a decade since the original series aired, too. So I don't see theme fatigue being a problem. Especially when said theme proves popular, which is what they want.

YOU might be sick of Dinosaurs but the last Dino theme'd Sentai was in 2013, when Ryusoulger airs it'll have been 6 years since Kyoryu. An entire NEW generation of Japanese kids are now getting into sentai and haven't seen any sentai previous to LuPat, the dino theme will be new to them.

People seem to forget that this show's meant to sell toys to kids in Japan, not to adults in the west.

The show isn't out yet, we have literally no idea how it's gonna play out. Wait and See.

The point is these series, especially Sentai, cater to their age demographic first and foremost. That's the demographic that brings in the revenue.

If the demographic shows that dinosaurs sell, they're going to make the theme dinosaurs.

If the theme hasn't been used in a while, it's back on the table. They'll reuse a theme if it's worth reusing.

Older fandoms are secondary. Western fandoms are below even that. Obviously liking a series, theme or concept is subjective, but we're not the ones who make the decisions about what should or shouldn't be done here.

To them the same thing goes. They're an afterthought, less so then us. Kids wake up at 9 am to watch this, they woke up at 6 am to watch this. The shows don't target an older audience, they target kids.

Kid show: *focuses solely on kids and the success of the show is determined by how well the toys sell that they keep flashing in your face like 20 times per episode*

Complain if you wanna complain, just remember you're not the target audience and things won't go the way you'd like it to go. Ryusoulger might be the best Sentai in years despite it's Dino theme, we honestly don't know. At the end of the day it's still a case of this show's meant to sell toys to kids, that's what it's going to do and no amount of complaining from adults both in Japan and outside of it will change that.

Also I'll happily criticize everything Japan does with it's entertainment, ESPCIALLY anime, can't stand it.

I think the theme won't really matter, though. If the story is great then it's still worth watching anyway.

I take my Japanese toy commercials very seriously and hold them dear to me. It's ok to criticize but when you're not the target demograph of a franchise that has had the same target for decades and whine that you aren't being catered to, then what the hell did you fucking expect?

Anyways, I've gotten over the reused Dino theme again. And yes, dinosaurs are cool no matter what and it's always exciting to see new dino sentai. The problem is that due to the success of Kyoryuger we got Dino Force Brave and Dino Charge which are very recent, that is why older fans are fatigued because of overexposure.

Doesn't help that the colors are exactly the same as Kyoryuger, which further makes people think this is blatant Kyoryuger recycle.

The best thing we can hope is that Ryusoulger is not only exceeds the toy sales, but also becomes a Sentai that is loved by fans and kids. Aka not another Daigo Sentai Kingranger :P

Considering we got a new writer on board who's never done toku we might very well get that. Worked wonders for Build after all. Especially as they got Build's director lol

Honestly, the suits and plot are different enough that the reuse of dinosaurs as a motif is pretty superficial at this point.

All we have are right are pictures to go on. So I wouldn't judge the show until the first episode comes out.

Really curious right now about the cast. I wonder which new actors we will get for the main roster and I wonder if we will have another veteran actor as the mentor.

Well if they DO get a veteran actor and they already did Sentai, they'd likely be a voice actor judging from Go-Busters and Kyuranger

I was thinking more Yoichi Nukumizu aka Kogure from LuPat or Susumu Terajima aka uncle Mario from Zyuohger. I am fine if they get another Commander Dumpling or Torin-type mentor, but if they do get a human I would love to see comedian Hiroyuki Miyasako have a crack at it. He is no stranger to toku having voiced Belial once in one of Zero's movies, would love to see him try a role in person. :rock:

Probably Silver again, seeing as it is knights and such. Hoping it will be a Bronze instead lol.

Given that both gold and silver are design elements of this year's suits, it wouldn't surprise me if they went with a color that's less frequently used. Probably black or white, since they're already lightly referencing western knight tropes, and the black knight/white knight this is a likely trope they'll use.

You're absolutely right; I completely forgot. Revised best guess: a white knight. Probably the center zig-zag would be silver, outlined in black. I'm guessing some shoulderpads. I'll be curious to see what mecha they use: will they return to the pterodactyl well, just completely re-doing KyoryuGold? Maybe do a western or Chinese-style dragon? Do something super-weird like a dino egg? Or break, like, all expectations and not add any new team members his year?

If they didn't have a black Ryusoulger already zi would've loved to see them doing a black and and white duo for a 6th ranger or even black white ranger.

The Sixth Ranger is rumored to be an Orange Mammoth Ranger.
