Hey, those might have been an exciting 20 minutes!
|

She said she didn’t know, the show didn’t tell her, so why not at least let her experience it as the show intends? No matter how little the payoff, I just assumed people could read the room well enough to not immediately screw it up. Guess I was wrong. It’s especially disappointing since I expect the show to explain it next week when Celebro is kidnapping Riku to make the Belial medal. @Topic: I kinda forgot to write this down but I like how Shinya/Celebro is finally interacting directly with the main cast starting next week. I want the cast to know he’s out there specifically (Haruki and Z only know someone is making monster medals, not who) and given the clues we have right now it might start with the next episode. |
While the new magazine scans imply another mecha for Kiramager and the first genuine look at Kamen Rider Saber, I noticed something of note for Z.
If you look closely next to Z's face, you'll see an armored body next to him which looks suspiciously like King Joe, but it doesn't feel to follow the same sensibilities as the OG King Joe. The colors and design choices are similar enough to suggest King Joe, but not precisely enough to say that it is the King Joe most are familiar with. http://ukiyaseed.weebly.com/ukiyasee...en-rider-saber |
Yeah, so... looks like STORAGE is getting their own custom King Joe!

Look I'm hyped for this guy just because his name is King Joe. What is he king of? Good question.

Wait, STORAGE is getting their own custom King Joe? That's awesome!

Here's just a quick list of some of the many things King Joe is the king of:
- Awesome names - Being one of the original combining super robots in all of fiction - Getting named after Tetsuo Kinjou, who wrote King Joe's debut episodes back in Ultraseven - Having more reappearances than basically any other robot in the Ultra franchise - Making people say "Man, that name is awesome!" |
Quote:
If it is King Joe, will the STORAGE version be a custom to the Z-Universe King Joe who is only a STORAGE Robo, or will King Joe invade the Z-Universe and be damaged and salvaged and re-worked by STORAGE!? Remember, Z's Gamma Future is in the opener and that form still hasn't made an appearance! I don't see this coming immediately. |

But why is Red King... not red? Ultraman is very confusing indeed. |

Hey so the man in the green suit isn't belial reborn right? I feel like that'd be a bad twist.
Edit: Also did Z get a second writer or did the first writer finish the series before passing? |

Where did you find that image? Wasn't part of the Twitter set that I saw. |
Found more on information on all this, including but not limited to King Joe STORAGE Custom!
http://ukiyaseed.weebly.com/ukiyasee...-future-debuts Still say it's basically "King-Joe-Meets-Diaclone" with a little Sentai thrown in for good measure! |
>Ultraman show gets a combining robot.
>Super Sentai: *nervous sweating* But he looks pretty damn cool though and yeah, I keep thinking of Diaclone when I look at him. |
Episode 7 is here, and it's pretty great!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mraa9KClJNM This one was a lot more like it. Sakamoto goes completely nuts on the action, they remembered Ultramen can change sizes (which I always love seeing), and, most importantly, it puts into context why the exposition in it and the last one was so darn clunky. I still wish they hadn't taken the show away from Haruki and Z as much as they did these past two weeks, but everything about the structure here makes way more sense knowing Geed was just a temporary guest star. It's like one big nostalgic party for that series that Z fans are totally still invited to, as long as they understand where the spotlight really is. |
I must say I wasn't expecting Geed to show up and leave so quickly, but hey, the show is Ultraman Z after all. It was really cool seeing Z team up with two veterans using his full arsenal up till now. It really showed us how much he and Haruki have grown and helps us send off this first batch of episodes.
Everything has been set up about the Devil Splinters alongside the Ultra Medals and Kaiju Medals, Z and Celebro are both firmly in place with their abilities and powers. Juggler continues to be Juggler. Things are fitting into place as we enter the next act. |
They even threw in an Orb reference.
|
Another fantastic episode!
The start was a nice throwback to Orb, even Juggler had to smile :lol Riku gets kidnapped, as expected, and there wasn’t too much interesting stuff in there except the action scene with "tiny" Z which was great! Him fighting/dancing with Yoko was perfection. But what I liked most about this episode was the action scene at the end because damn, the camera angles, fight choreography and miniature work were beyond excellent! The ending surprised me not only because Zero left (saw that one coming) but Geed as well. Given that he got DX toys and stuff I assumed he would stay in the show. But - I did notice how much screen time he took and I agree with what has been said in this thread, it's better for him to have an amazing guest appearance for two weeks with all the action I could possibly ask for, and then let him leave so Z and the gang can get back into the spotlight. Overall I enjoyed Geed's little visit, although I hope he return for the finale or something along those lines. Next week we'll get a scene I was looking forward to: The debut of gamma Future in a beautiful night setting! |
I think this also settles the question as to whether Juggler is a good guy in this show or not. He may get bored and mess with Z from time to time, but it's pretty obvious now that he really is just trying to help. I think most people figured that already, but it was still good to confirm that.
Beyond that, Juggler now knows who the bad guy is (can't remember his name to save my life) but since he doesn't want to out himself it seems like he's got a secret investigation on his hands. I'm betting the B plot from now on is Juggler investigating. While not the first time, this episode also gave us a rare look at how form changing actually looks like to your average onlooker. We normally always see the toy advertisements/protagonist perspective, so it was nice to see what the average person sees. |
I thought it was mostly OK. I really don't like Sakamoto having to force in out of suit action scenes since it's just the same thing every. single. time and it's boring, it just feels like I'm watching an episode of Power Rangers and really sucks me out of the story. Plus what's with the weird filter that's in the episodes he directs. Anyway, plot stuff happens, yada yada yadda.
Next Week, more Sakamoto fight scenes...yay. |
I just found out that rather than being released as a soft vinyl toy, the King Joe STORAGE Custom will be a combining DX figure instead! Still scaled to the vinyls, but able to split into the individual components. That's pretty cool!

I find the King Joe Storage Custom being a DX Toy really, really cool.
Like... when was the last time we had a non ultra related DX Toy that's just like something like this? |
Since it's a Sofubi does that mean it'll be cheap, as well as small enough to be kinda cheap to import? Because I was interested in this combiner already but... holy heck yes

And I agree, this is a really cool idea! Quote:
It's around ¥4000, so depending how low pre-order discounts get it should be around 20-30 bucks. |
Yeah, this show's pretty good hey? Juggler, Haruki and Riku all covering for each other to keep their identities secret was fun. I like that Juggler is definitely a good guy, just in his own Juggler way.
The action scenes in this show continue to be absolute top tier. The 3-on-1 fight at the end of the episode was nuts. The Z and Yoko fight was also cool. As if she didn't already, but Yoko totally has a thing for giant red and blue guys now. Preview for next week's episode is sweaty girls beating each other up. So another Sakamoto episode! |
You can listen to Z's Opening and Ending Themes on Spotify!

Can’t figure out imgur for the life of me (nor do I k ow anywhere I can get the pictures) but they’ve revealed the full features for the Dark Z Riser. In addition to the Hebikura Access Card and the Zetton, Pandon and Maga-Orochi medals, it also has voice lines from the actor (no duh) and medals for Fire Golza, Melba, Super C.O.V, Gan Q and Geizogebas (I still can’t spell that name for the life of me). The first three of those can be scanned with the Kaburagi Card to create Tri King, while scanning the latter two after creating that fusion will give you Five King.

Highlights of the latest episode of Ultraman Z: - Jugglus Juggler, Private Eye. - Sakamoto getting his actors in on the action, as usual. - All three of Z's forms in action, which really highlights how great a job the show does at giving them totally different body language and fighting styles. - Kaburagi being real creepy. - Haruki having Ultra-lore explained to him and reacting with a shrug and a confused "o-ossu?", finally giving the rookie Ultra fans something they can relate to again. |

Also an interview from Koichi Sakamoto himself about working on both Z and Ultra Galaxy Fight. Next week were going to get an interview from Director Kiyotaka Taguchi |
Yuka continues to be one of my favorite cast members purely because of her insane levels of excitement when it comes to both Kaiju and Aliens.
Gamma Future is also very busted, granted Kaburagi cheated first with making TriKing into FiveKing but still. Real fun episode. |
Hey so question, Why does Riku/Geed say "Live, Unite, Up" for Ginga, X, and Orb respectively. I get that Unite is about X getting power from monster, and that life might be because Ginga is connected to life maybe? but I'm completely in the dark on Up for Orb.
|
Quote:
Same thing with Orb his device says "Fusion Up" Also before every transformation X will say "It's time to unite" |
Really loved Gamma Future; probably my favorite of Z's forms so far. Yuka and Yoko finding the Z Rider made me think about someone other than Haruki becoming Z. That'd be fun.
|
I feel like this episode would've been better split into two. It all happened very fast - Celebro immediately gets three medals, tests them, Haruki loses the Z-Riser, Yoko & Yuka get captured, Celebro gets two more medals, Haruki rescues Yoko & Yuka, gets the Z-Riser back, Celebro transforms again, then Gamma Future.
If that sounds like its happening too fast that's because it is. Personally I would've used one episode to introduce the Alien Pitt sisters, have their theft of monster samples be the plot of it with Storage going after them, the episode ends with the sisters getting away and Celebro transforming into Tri-King, beating the heroes. Haruki also loses the Z-Riser here. Second episode is Storage trying to find a way to beat Tri-King while the sisters are at it again, Storage manages to catch them and get the Z-Riser back, and this one ends with the big decisive battle against Five-King introducing Gamma Future. I feel like this could've been a lot better given more time. I especially didn’t like how the Pitt sisters were brainwashed at the beginning, but still had their own personality? I feel like they should've been their own selves in the first episode and then brainwashed at the end of it to go out again for two more samples. Would’ve been a cool way for our heroes to notice they aren't working on their own and that there's someone behind it all, the one using the medals. That being said I liked what I saw, I really did, so many fun action scenes and dialogue, and the Gamma Future fight at the end was amazing! Just a lot of fantastic effects and miniature work. I also really like Juggler investigating on his own. Next week is King Joe which looks super fun, knowing what they'll do with him in future episodes really excites me! |
|
It was a fun episode, but it was definitely rushed. A lot of stuff just seem to happen without any explanation. It could've made a good 2-part story.
As expected: A lot of girls doing high kicks. I like Yuka and her nerding out about aliens and monsters - even when said monster is in front of her destroying the city. I realise thinking about power levels in these shows is silly but Gamma Future seems pretty ridiculous. It's pretty cool though! Quote:
