Don’t feel too bad, I’m also the kind of person who reads about upcoming stuff (or in his case, rumours about upcoming stuff) and finds a way to pay some service to it. Heck, I was at one point planning a Zenkaiger/Saber crossover fic, but when I heard the rumours, I had it shelved. Now that the rumour’s been confirmed, it’s cancelled.

I think you still have more than a little wriggle room there to write this though! I mean there's so many things that the movie is clearly going to just brush under the carpet just to make it plausible and you could really go to town exploring those details in fic.

I guess you’re right. I have too many ideas just to throw it out entirely. Houou I’ll have to wait for more information to come, so I can avoid any intentional overlap.

Sora, Sora, what a lad. Able to hold Gekido with no problem unlike his dad, who had to train for it. But yes, sure did need that hospital scene that I feel I needed to see.

Me and my friend usually catch up once a week online to talk over the episode and chat about reactions, and I felt awful for him after this episode because all I would talk about was how they treated Oogami, and how it was unfair to not at least show how Sora would have felt about what happened to his father.

I swear anyone who hears me talk about Saber but hasn't seen the show would think Buster is the main character. (>_>)

I mean hey, dudes so great he get his own Manga where he is the main character so technically it's true to an extent. Kind of hoping regardless of the Manga that he does get his shot at a V-Cinema post Saber.

I am absolutely hoping so too! Regardless of the smaller budget for the V-Cinema "films," I would love to see a Buster film, he's legit one of my favourite characters in years, and I will argue for his inclusion in... well, in everything.

The manga! I've only seen RAWs but it is so cool so far. We get to see Sora's first days too!

I've only read that first issue translated by Genm, but I adore it, and the moment it came out, I was trying to find out if a tankobon was forthcoming, because I will absolutely buy that if it does. It totally shoots some of my early character building for Oogami out of the water from when the show was in its infancy, but I think I'm getting good at walking this tightrope of neither contradicting things I have previously said nor actively contradicting the show.

That is exactly the logic I'm working with. Plus, I'm pretty sure that no expects one-to-one canon consistency from me after the Yodonna Redemption Arc, so I hope I can just quietly let it slide, haha.

This is why I used to write fics that depict the characters after the show and movies. I have whims like that.

I mean hey you're trying to crossover numerous franchises in these various "one shots" so you know, plus trying to tell a larger story from what brief glimpses I've seen. Which I find commendable.

Also it's taken until now to realize that you're the one on FF.Net that's posting all those one shots that I had taken a glance at a few times when I see them pop up. Which I always find great because that means expanding the number of stories on the fandoms in FF.Net and thus raising them through the ranks!

Also I tip toe around continuity for the most part, either wanting to not change too much, maybe add things in as like a little fun additional story, or place things before or after. Admittedly this is funny since my main story for all intents and purposes is a Zi-O rewrite... but still.

This is what a rational human being would do, this is normal—but then I would have deprived the world of such crackpot scenarios as Calibur is really Asakura Takeshi, and we all know the world is a better place for that, right? Right?

Oh, thank you. I suffer from this thing where I cannot seem to tell you what I need to buy from the supermarket but yet everything I have ever written remains for the most part in my head, so whenever I write these stories, they all come together and end up being interlinked.

I sometimes worry that I'm spamming ff.net with what I do, and I started to feel bad about that, so I started doing the "flavoured" stories in my own space as I didn't want people to just log in and see a wall of dreamcastegirl fic, as that wouldn't have been fair to everyone else writing. But thank you for checking in on these odd little stories, I super appreciate having eyes on them!

I think we all have a Zi-o rewrite in us! And, as above, I think you're the more skilled of us to be able to work around continuity—you guys are like fine artists carefully working on restoring renaissance paintings, and I'm like... driving a derailed train on a collision course with the middle of the story, leaning out the window and shouting "Hey, guys wouldn't it be great if..."

I feel like I should mention that you are talking to a man who stared at his Robot Spirits God Gundam and went "What if I made a Stop-Motion esque series where it and a bunch of other higher end figures were like an Avengers like group that fought against the tyranny of the house they lived in, Bionicle's.", so really you are among like minds here.

Also, I'm super glad to be in such good company! Part of what really keeps me coming back to these shows is the desire to know what might happen next, or what might if certain circumstances were different. For the longest time when I was younger there was a sort of stigma about writing fanfiction, so I'm really glad it's more widely embraced now.

I mean, I'm clearly having fun with what I'm doing, and I really warms my heart to talk with others having just as much fun with what they're writing.

Same honestly. I ended up just diving into the Fanfic Section on a whim. So seeing everyone just genuinely having a fun time bouncing off each other has made me get more confident in wanting to share my work with others. Not to mention just interacting more.

I really miss the community on ff.net, and I get the sneaking suspicion that maybe a lot of people outgrew the moment and that's why it's not as active as it was? Whatever the case, I always try and participate; when others post their lists of what they think would be cool for Rider gimmicks, I always try and write something for them, or leave feedback, or just generally start that conversation, because... writing is lonely, and like you say, it's fun bouncing off others and I think it absolutely makes us better people in the end.

Yeah this isn’t particularly relevant to your recent upload and I have no idea how up to date you are with Zenkaiger (or if you’re even still watching), but considering a certain character shows up occasionally in your stories, I feel obliged to tell you that his corresponding Sentai Gear will be in an upcoming episode.

Oh this is super cool, thank you! I am a few episodes behind Zenkaiger, I'm just sort of casually watching it, but I do have an idea of the kind of stories I want to tell with that character—it's kind of more of a Buster sort of story, but I really do want them to be a major player in it.

Ah, good. More Dezast content! He's a cool dude, I don't think I've gained this much fascination for a kaijin since... Uh... The Roidmudes! (the Hokuto crows don't count).

And I like this lil story here as it gives a personal insight of what Dezast was thinkin during the TTFC special. His behavior there was so weird, especially him being somewhat erratic at the end.

Now, how 'bout we save Dezast frustration and offer up Ren?

Desast is such a fascinating character that I love it when people do fan stuff with him so reading this story was a treat.

Really, when all's said and done I really do hope he comes out of this intact, like still alive. I mean given the latest developments due to the recent scans, I think that's even more likely. But aside from like you know... the killing people... dude just wants to vibe and chill, maybe find more people like him and start a family, he just wants to live and be free and I can respect that.

So much so that I hope he really doesn't stick his nose any further than he needs to and survives Saber.

He's a special Megid. Doesn't really attack any folk besides one that actually poses a threat. And with Kyomu, he's basically immortal x2!

I think it'd be fun if he joins up with the swordsmen as some sort of wildcard auxiliary along with Ren. By having Kyomu, he is virtually a swordsman like them now.

I've been feeling the same! I'm still a few episodes behind, and I liked him well enough before, but ever since this Ren subplot has come up, I really started liking him, like second-favourite-character-in-the-show sort of liking him. I wasn't so hot on this special, but Desast was absolutely the stand out here and I kind of started to have this feeling when watching this that he was a real antihero.

If the special was by like anyone else, I'd just dismiss it as him being out of character, but because it's like by the main guy, I believe, I have to assume there's something more going on with Desast... plus, you know, he does have a red scarf.

Thank you for reading it! This late in the show I'm walking that fine line between not contradicting previous things I've made up on the spot and trying to incorporate themes from Saber's late game, so it's a delicate business. Still, I really just wanted to talk about Desast here, because, like you, I'm kind of fascinated with him and I'm hoping he pulls through and becomes something more than he is. I don't need him to be a good guy per se, but I've got my fingers crossed that he becomes an ally of sorts, even if that's only for his own agenda.

When this show first started, I could not have imagined that I would be rooting for him so bad, and yet here we are, lol.

No ide aid this chapter was meant to be sad, but that’s the vibe I got.

Everything I write is meant to be sad, lol. Sad is literally my genre, hahaha. (but thank you for putting up with this!)

Yeah I can relate. My main genre is “put the protagonists through hell to get their happiness”. AVX has so far avoided it, but after my current three-parter (and the bonus chapter I intend to put up today/tomorrow), it’ll be there in full force for at least three episodes (not a multi-parter, but still interconnected).

I can't remember who put the idea in my head, although I suspect it was something to do with the magic realism movement or Clive Barker, but I've always tried to follow the advice that you should try and depict normal people having normal reactions to extraordinary situations in this kind of genre, that you should always strive to make your characters believable first and then that kind of detail makes all the nonsense you layer on top slightly more palatable.

I mean, the Tojitendo have done kashiwa mochi cravings, multiple suns, game of tag, snails and recycling as monster themes and we’ve got an 80s nostalgia monster coming up, so a porcupine is strangely plausible by that standard.

Though I like the idea that Yodonna has a trio of looney fangirls pulling their own vigilante act.
