Can't speak for anyone else, but literally all I want is for the women who do appear to not get treated like dirt or just be undermined by other male characters.

Well, I did also consider 'garbage' or 'disposable cutlery', but settled for something a little more broad : P

Yeah okay i'm exaggerating. It sure doesn't feel like I am sometimes, though, when I start thinking about every issue i've ever had with these shows at once.

I think what stings a lot about a number of the female riders is how they handle their motivations, Mariko and Sabella are both trying to serve "strong men", in Gaim that is eventually revealed to be Mariko's one and only goal, to find a strong man to serve, and Sabella is honestly uncomfortably dedicated to her brother, both of these come off as honestly kind of gross. Like honestly these two cases feel just flat out sexist to me, especially Mariko... Then we have Poppy and Valkyrie who both are under the control of powerful men in their arcs, at least they're able to break through that sort of?

I think it's very obviously apparent that female riders are often handled differently then "one note" male riders, and usually in a way that just seems baaaaaaad

The best female character in Rider to this day remains Ozawa from Agito. (I also really like Medusa from Wizard but that might be more bias than anything)

I almost forgot another example but this reminded me! In ghost Alia does transform into a pink necrom, just to get beaten immediately... Even up against an impossible foe I think we know a male character in the same situation would have gotten a few good hits in on the big bad before getting defeated, but Alia transforms and promptly loses.....

Yea, that's a very fair criticism to make, though I'll be honest, Makoto has the same sorta issue with Kanon that Reika has with Ryoga (something that I hope won't happen in the next KR series that this writing team will make in the future when that happens). Probably would've been more serviceable if neither of these pairs were blood related.

Makoto grew passed it though, whereas Reika went backwards. Makoto was introduced as someone who would do anything from his sister…but after Takeru saved her, he switched tacts to trying to get his body back and get through to Alain. He had two whole characters he had massive investment in - Alain, and Kanon (and I’d personally count Takeru in there, too). Reika, though…is introduced as an independent threat, then revealed to be fanatically devoted to her brother, and he’s the only character she’s meaningfully attached to - like, she literally has nothing outside him at this point.

Have you not seen Ghost, or something? There is no way in hell those two relationships are even remotely comparable beyond the fact that both pairs consist of siblings.
Makoto had plenty of issues and developments beyond Kanon - accentuated by the fact he's the secondary Rider(who debuted very early on) in a series revolving around just three Riders to begin with. Makoto's character doesn't completely hinge on Kanon. I thought the show made that pretty clear, considering she's safe and sound after the first quarter of the show, but Makoto's conflicts only become more complicated afterwards.

We're in the endgame of Saber and nothing about Reika nor Ryoga have significantly developed in the past 2 quarters of the show. I know the show isn't over yet, but Reika really has gone backwards, if anything. Props to her actress for making Reika seem at least somewhat threatening in the first quarter, I guess.

Guys, I’ve got a feeling that the Revice as a series will not have dinosaurus as the theme exclusively but that the theme is ancient animals in general. So besides a dinosaur-themed rider maybe there is a mammoth-themed rider, megalodon-themed rider, sabertooth tiger-themed rider, etc.

As far as Toei is concerned, those basically all fall under the marketable banner of 'dinosaurs' anyway!

Well it's probably reasonable to assume Revice will have form changes into other dinosaurs (maybe with some inspiration from past Riders), so it would be a good way to separate the other Riders in terms of theme.

Fair enough. But have you seen anyone ever really talk about Makoto beyond that? More than half the time, any discussion I'd see concerning Ghost (besides how 'bad' it is) are jokes about how Makoto's relationship with Kanon is obsessively weird, that Alain's the only good character, and [insert common 'criticism' here]. I like Ghost, but I'll admit it's been a while since I've actually watched it. I'm definitely in the wrong here comparing the two relationships, though.

Honestly, I feel like Reika and Ryoga would benefit from a V-Cinema (or manga like Buster), since unlike Makoto, they're pretty much strictly side Riders rather than main ones. Actually show more of their past, upbringing, stuff like that. I know we're pretty much expecting one for Rintaro and Kento, but I do think that the other Riders are in desperate need of something like what Buster got.

Yea, it's EXACTLY that. It's one of the only things I ever see get referenced when people talk about Makoto, and I see people elevate all of his, you know, brotherly protective interactions with Kanon to the same sort of level that sometimes I forget (mostly because like I said, hadn't actually watched Ghost in a long while) it was never like that.

But yea, definitely on me for comparing two relationships that aren't actually alike at all. And again, hoping that out of all the Saber Riders, that Reika and Ryoga will get a V-Cinema that actually details their relationship better than in the show.

Honestly it would've been less weird if they had just made the two lovers instead of siblings or something. Or at least childhood friends that rib each other on their off time like how Reika jokes about how cute Ryoga's 'tsundere moments' are.

Extra Riders were already a thing, but we've gotten 2 series in a row where extra extra Riders feel like they need their own label.

I miss looking forward to v-cinemas as bonus, extra material rather than feeling like they're necessary to flesh out certain characters more. Even with 2 post-series v-cinemas for Saber I honestly don't ever see Reika and Ryoga really reaching satisfactory levels of development. It's a massive shame since their Seiken and suits are just awesome.

The whole siscon thing in general is an anime trope that they keep trying to bring to live shows, but it just doesn't work.

It's really a shame that Reika basically went from Isaac's lap dog, to Ryoga's. It felt like she was being written differently in the first quarter - as if she was the one acting on Isaac's behalf, since it was too early in the show to really debut his character or have him do anything. This is the only time where I felt like she had potential as a character, but it literally all went away as soon as she and her brother debuted as Riders. I genuinely enjoyed Reika's screentime moreso in the first two quarters.

Speaking of Agito, does it really get a bad rap. I mean I watched it 6 years ago (after Kuuga) and I really liked it, which I enjoyed more than Kuuga, where I found it slow at times.

oh wow so if you can't tell, the thing on the left is the stamper itself.

I imagine you take it off and stamp the screen and it creates the image.

Literally a stamp! The screen resembles a classic LCD but I wonder if it's actually e-ink. That would make more sense, but e-ink is probably too expensive for a kid's toy.

My first thought was that it's just the rail system, like in the Build Driver, it reads which stamp has been put into the belt and then the screen shows the corresponding image. But I can't see a rail on the picture TheRaizin posted, and also the screen is turned so it faces upward while wearing the belt.

So I think you actually do stamp the screen to transform. Or that’s how it starts, and the sequence is finished by inserting the stamp into the belt which turns the screen.

I would assume it's a system where the belt reads a chip inside the stamp, and when that chip comes near the screen while turned it will read it and display the correct image. So at first, no image, put the stamp on the screen and it will display the image after you take the stamp off. So basically like an actual stamp.

Looking at the hexagonal patern, i think its something like magnetic whiteboard that popular among toddlers. I wonder if the stamp have a magnet that mark the screen. And the ‘gameplay’ is, you ‘stamp’ the screen with our gimmick toys, and put the gimmick toys in the side of screen to activate the noises

Okay. I love this thing! It's not too outrageous as say the Foruze Driver, it's got a pretty sleek, futuristic design, which I'm loving the neon color pallette for this one. I honestly want the Driver to shout "Gao!" for some reason, but I'm interested in hearing what they do give it.

Saber's jingles are not that bad, the only problem with them is that they are too long... Which is mitigated somewhat by how most modern Kamen Rider shows tend to shorten the jingles anyway. I guess the narration of the books can get annoying?

As for Revice, how do you think the sounds will be like? Considering the animal motif, I'm expecting to hear some dinosaur roars once the henshin is complete.

I just hope the "legendary rider" thing is just a "color cameo/reference" from the stamps or things on that level. Nothing too deep like Zi-O bringing back actors and forms looking like the OG rider and all.
