So based off the first eight insects (and the rhino beetle ISN'T the sixth ranger!? Wow!) the next two will have to be super interesting to match up.
I expect an Ant tbh, and if the Sixth Ranger is pink, a Ladybug for them. As for Insect 10, maybe an Earwig? |
I wonder if the somewhat unclear structure to the upper-right might be an alternate form of the mecha on the left.
|
The premise reminds me of Zyuranger a bit

Would be awesome to see them bring them back! |
Purple being a butterfly made me think “Nooroo, dark wings RISE!”
|
Well, officially back to one girl for this team too, though the designs look pretty good—Yellow’s suit being essentially the same as the male suits is an interesting choice, will be curious to see how they portray her.
Still hoping the add on Senshi might be women/at least one more female… |
Yellow isnt the only female. Purple is as well.
|
Their belts look like phones with that little camera lens dot. Also interesting that the sword is wood grain.
I loved the half cape look on Kamen Rider Espada and it looks pretty cool here. Get ready for some awkward figures though. |

Does anybody else think these images make the series look a bit more...gritty? I'm sure it won't be, but it just looks darker and...well, grittier - especially when compared to the past few seasons.
|
Oh yea I like what I'm seeing. I can't remember the last time sentai suits had this much armor that wasn't a powerup. I was expecting more gold but the monochromatic look is working here
Not thrilled with Red's helmet yet. I know it's supposed to have a bug motif somewhere but all I see so far is a giant black visor. I'm sure I'll get over it when I see it from different angles Does anyone else think the swords are a cross between the seikens, the perfect zecter, and a bop-it ? hahahaha |

The designs of everything on this poster look cool as fuck. Nice to have a full team of people in regular suits after the last couple of shows.
|
Looking at the character descriptions, this is reminding me of Ryusoulger a bit, given that each ranger is from a different country.
BTW the staff's been revealed and that one guy that had the rumored staff is correct. |

So the writer wrote the ex-aid vs pacman movie, and some of those deranged (non-pejorative), ex-aid specials, right? Looks like this could be fun!
I also saw he wrote the live action Kakegurui movie, and I ended up watching the live action Kakegurui show, which I don’t even know if he wrote. Anyway, I had a lot of fun, that show is hilarious. Looking forward to this show. I was kind of hoping they would bring back Aikawa Sho, from Boukenger, to write this season. No reason why I thought he would do it, but that was one of my hopes. Nice to see them giving a shot to a newer writer, though. Suits look fantastic as well. Love that we are getting a purple on the team. |

I'm also glad the lilac ranger is a dude, since butterflies suffer an unfortunate stereotype of being girly. I've noticed that anytime someone imagines an OG bug motif Sentai, there's always a female pink butterfly ranger. So it's nice that Toei are actually trying to depict the more macho side of a butterfly that is often overlooked. |
I don't know how I feel about King-Ohger. On one hand, it's nice where going back to the regular Sentai formula compared to how different DonBrothers was. On the other hand, I liked how different DonBrothers was compared to other Sentai's. How it stood out and actually had compelling characters. While in King-Ohger were likely going back to the standard formula and having stock characters again.

The suits are slick and the mecha looks cool form what we can see. Hopefully it's as articulated as Don Onitajin.
Cool that this is the first Sentai where every core team member is based on a bug. |

Hopefully the movie was good too. It?s not on US netflix, so I have not watched it yet. |

I will say that the Reiwa era of Sentai has been super unique so far. Personally, each series keeps one-upping the previous one in ways I did not expect.
Insects are kind of a peak thing for me so I can't see how this will be topped. I hope we see suit upgrades for everyone based on their fighting style. |

Closer look at the helmets via magazines (and new Geats riders too !)
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...222_155118.jpg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...222_155122.jpg Okay , I'm digging the red helmet alot more now |
Huh, what happened to the silver of KuwagaOhger's helmet? For that matter, HachiOhger's mask has yellow stripes instead of orange stripes.
Like you could argue that it's just the lighting on the reveal poster (like how TonboOhger is a lighter blue but in the magazine appears to use the usual darker shade), but you can clearly see that KuwagaOhger's helmet's mouthplate is silver, and that HachiOhger's mask is orange and not yellow. Does this mean that they might have like, powerup modes or something? It could be possible that they're prototype designs, but that brings to question which ones are the prototypes, and why they'd even use them alongside the final helmets to begin promoting for KingOh-ger. Sidenote, seems like we're getting one new Rider who might be actually sticking around due to the new helmet while the other one might also just be a temp since it's a modified version of the Ginpen/Keilow helmet. Plus, I wonder if Seeker's buckle will find its way into the main series if Geats is showing it off. EDIT: Upon a closer look, I guess it really is just light glares on both sides of KuwagaOhger's helmet in the promo poster, 'cuz it's a bit more uneven on the chin than I thought. But I still think that HachiOhger's mask was more orange than yellow. |

I mean, I already don't like when robo components are just weapons and nothing else, unless they're extra ones, like the smaller cubes in Zyuohger, etc. But couldn't the butterfly at least, I dunno, have been a shield for the left hand or something? I think that's my overall biggest issue with it. I mean, we get the extra bugs to form components of the body. Just seems weird to me that they'd then also have the butterfly barely contribute. Maybe that's just me? |
It's a bit strange, yeah, that for a main ranger, their zord contributes just as much as one of the random additional pieces.
Also, yeah. 10 components definitely makes it the most. Granted, though, that's with the massive asterisk that it doesn't really need much of them. It seems the main robot can be built with just the stag beetle, bee, dragonfly, and mantis (I don't know if the ladybugs form the fists, or just gauntlet armor). Everything else seems to be there for aesthetics. |
is it bad I can't tell if blue and purple are boys or girls
|
So the main robo is a ten piece mecha?
|
That's about what I would expect from an insect based Sentai Mecha.
|
Well, most of the rumors are true. The costumes are chic and exceed all expectations, especially the red one. Really fit the royal theme. The only remark: purple and blue are too similar. They shouldn't have been done on the same team.
The swords are also very cool. |

My only issue is Black's helmet. I get it can't be just a black visor on a black helmet, but the yellow stripes and silver wings are a bit too much colour. Makes him look more like a Sixth Ranger with a distinct helmet style. It's also odd that his visor is the negative space on the bug graphic, rather than being made of the bug body/wings itself. |
A little bit about the name of the kingdoms in case people missed it
Shugoddom: Portmanteau of shugo + god + kingdom (shugo is Japanese for "to guard") and probably referring to how the Shugods are focused there Nsokopa: Japanese word pasokon (パソコン, abbreviated form of personal computer) written and pronounced backwards referring to the technology aspect of the place Ishabana: Portmanteau of isha + bana (Isha is Japanese for doctor and bana seems to be the past tense word for "make" in Hindi from what I gathered) probably a reference to the kingdom's affinity for medicine and to make things Gokkan: Japanese word for intense cold (極寒) probably referring to how cold the kingdom is Tofu: The food :lolol and probably a reference to how agriculture-centric the kingdom is |

Given how the yellow and black zords will be the right and left legs respectively like with OniTaijin, what are the odds that the toys will just be remolds of the ones from DonBrothers?

Unrelated: I just realized this is one of the ultra-rare Sentai in which the suits for female characters don't have skirts. Has that even happened since Dekaranger? (Other'n a Gokai Change or two.) |
