Did anyone happen to find a Dunsparce on route 3? I've been hunting one but haven't found any yet.

I think my favourite type might be Grass. I like them, because they feel technical, even if they are as victim to the rock paper scissors as any other type. Send the enemy to sleep, chip away their health, they wake up, poison them and let their health chip itself away, HP getting a little low, steal theirs etc

Is anyone else with an original 3DS finding this game saps battery like there's no tomorrow? Is it any different with the XL?

I use a brand new XL and so far it lasts for a good number of hours. I keep my 3D on too.

Do you leave the 3D on? I hear that saps battery faster.

Yeah, it lasts me about 6 hours without 3D on my brand new XL.

I don't bother with the 3D on mine as it feels rather superfluous, and the game seems to last a damn while on my XL. What I will say though is, I generally don't notice the power draining so I'll go from full charge to suddenly the thing flashing red and I'm like 'shiiiiiiiiiiit'.

I tend not to keep the 3D one, but the wireless is usually on (but the actual wifi settings in the game are off) so it could be that.

Its very possible I just lose track of time when playing though :lol

Wow am I the only one who uses the 3D at all times? :lol No one I knows uses it. I am quite tempted to turn it off too, especially since the framerate doubles with it off, but some of the effects are nice. (like the fossil cave)

Yeah, the cave was awesome. Since the green light comes on when a bit is in 3D I tend to flick it on if something is new, but battles and such I just leave in 2D now.

It's the 3D indicator light. They removed that feature on the XL. It's only on the base model.

Aww that's disappointing. I would like to be able to know which scenes are 3D to turn them on.

I had no idea they took it off for the XL, that's a little disappointing.

The 3D is a cool novelty, but I don't think it really adds enough substance to justify how much it murders my battery.

The battery problem is okay, it's the framerate that gets me. With my 3D currently on the battles lag often. With it off suddenly it's as smooth as butter.

I'm really considering keeping it off but my OCD gets the better of me.

At any rate, this game wasn't really designed with 3D in mind, judging by how sparsely they use it.

Yeah, 3D isn't amazing in this this, but I've grown so accustomed to it so I barely notice If it's on or off anyway now =p (this applies to all games, and yes, I leave my 3D on all the time)

I'm seriously struggling to have a team in this, I really really like all the new pokemon. Was going to add a helioptile, but I have grass types to kill water, and tyrunts rock moves can handle flying... So I guess he's not really needed...

Just got done in Amberette (had to sort out my pancham problem, got one with a nature that boosts attack =D ) so I'm not very far ahead of you sideswipe and I was one of the first to get it =p Guess I do too much exploring.

My Pikachu is one which lowers special attack which kinda sucks, but I'm way too attached to him now to get a new one. Checking Bulbapedia though I didn't know Raichu had equal attack/special attack base stats, so I guess I could make him more of a physical attacker once he evolves.

This is why I try not pay too much attention to natures and EVs :lol Maybe this will be the game I actually train a properly trained team post-game though...

I'm trying hard to keep Charmeleon and Hawlucha on my team, but they seriously suck - even Tyrunt isn't that great really, as soon as I catch something genuinely cool and not just like that skunk thing I think they may have to be replaced. My Quilladin and Combusken will probably be the only constants on my team, and even then Quilladin is debatable.

My Frogadier has finally evolved in to the awesomness that is Greninja. During a Gym battle aswell though that made him kind of useless against Lady Korrina though but Hawlucha swept her team pretty much.

Yeah, I've been running into them alot there and on route 22 inbetween Santalune and Victory road gatehouse. Dunsparce and Farfetch'd are pretty rare in that area.

Actually, I noticed it seems to be real easy to level up the Tourchick you get from the mystery event. :lol

So apperantly in the beginning Poochyenas are common as hell to find in Emerald. Im trying to level mine up but its hard when you fight the exact same thing. :lol I also need to use my Zigzagoon but I dont reall care to at the moment, focusing on Poochyena and Torchic. Speaking of it, what level does Torchic evolve at?

Quilladin/Chesnaught is pretty nice, primarily because it's the only grass type I've encountered that hasn't been a piece of crap so far.

That's because it has a different OT, so you get an experience boost when using it.

Really? I don't think Skiddo's that bad. And getting a Roserade seems like it'd be easy too.

Also probably going to get a Sylveon asap just go have a Fairy type on rotation... I really don't like any of the others.

Hana (Florges) is my fairy type, but I wanted Sylveon cause I have the other eeveelutions in other games, plus I find it cute XD

It's nice how you get given a Lapras right after obtaining Surf.
