I thought I could just buy all 4 hard covers of the "Time Runs Out" event and I'll finally figure out WHY the Incursions are happening.

Then I found out the even ended with Cap and Iron Ass fighting each other while the last Incursion went on.

I know Marvel's main selling point is its comics but I'm not wasting any of my time buying Secret Wars. I've been thinking of either donating or giving my Marvel books to you guys. Let me know what's the best course of action here.

Marvel is doing nothing new. Both them and DC have been doing this for decade.

I haven't touched a non-Spider Man Marvel comic in over ten years (well, I just got some) but I picked up Secret Wars and am planning to read it after I catch up all of my Convergence stuff.

You're missing out on Ms. Marvel, then. And Daredevil. And Spider-Woman. All of which are really great series.

The Magneto thing was, as I recall, a retcon itself at some point.

Well they retconned them being children of alot of other characters in the past too. So thats nothing new.

No one knew that they werent mutants at the time so when Scarlet Witch created that world and granted Magnetos wish of Mutants ruling over Humans its logical that he would think of his children as mutants too.

It was. So frankly this is business as usual. And something I'm quite fine with. Handled better than a lot of other origin retcons out there. Need we be reminded of the simultaneous failures of Wolverine Origin II & Wolverine #310-313 AKA Sabretooth Reborn? Both of which are totally nonsensical given any of Wolverines established history prior to them.

I just got around to read Secret Wars #1 and I really really enjoyed that issue for the heartbreaking event it was.

It's both funny and sad that DC and Marvel are doing events where they kill off UNIVERSES in order to drum up sales and basically say "We're sorry for not living up to better expectations"

I want to believe this event will be good but I have real doubts over how something this big is going to end, preplanned or not.

Here's hoping this successes.

Yes its a gimmick to boost sales like mostly 80% of everyithing that was ever done in Superhero comics is. So I dont hold that aginst it. Its how these two companys work so I know that going in.

Having said that this issue showed how you execute this without it actually feeling like just a cheap sales gimmick. Hickman told the story of the end of the Marvel Universe with the right sense of gravitas it deserved. Its soul crushing and gut wrenching but because you care about these character in the story itself and not because you are upset about why this story is told.

It was fun, and in all honesty, yeah, the sales part didn't feel so obvious, it felt like a natural progression of all the storylines leading up to it.
I missed some stuff since I haven't really checked all the issues leading to it, (and while we are at it how did Scott get that egg?) but it did a good job telling it's own story.
On the other hand it did feel a bit rushed at times, while I appreciate what the last pages were going for, I would have traded them for a few extra panels.

But yeah, fun all around, and after that catastrophe I really want to see how the actual event works.

I prefer Marvel takes on cross-verses/time travel/dimension travel... It feels natural. I never had a problem with 2099 visiting Amazing or original, oh and superior too.

Yup it works best when seen as the culmination of all of what Hickman did since he took over Avengers in 2012. I read his Avengers run so I understood most of it. Some things I didnt really get since I didnt read New Avengers but it was really just minor stuff.

The egg confused me too. maybe we will learn more in Bendis last issues of Uncanny.

I didnt think it felt all that rushed. I was actually expecting the incursion to be shorter than it was and was surprised how much time they gave it. I guess if someone wants to know more about what the characters went through during the event they have to read the Last Days books.

It was a bit of a wast of space at the end but I liked it for what it was.

I gotta say though I was looking at that last page for quite a long time and didnt now if I should cry now or not.

The fact that it feels more antural is probably a good indicator of how irresponsible the marvel heroes are with the multiverse. :lol

I know what you mean with jumpy but I didnt take that big of an issue with it. I saw it more of a story of these two universe and less a story about the characters that inhabit those universes. And Clossus/Hulk Fastball special completely took the cake.

I didnt mind it that much since it was just the end. Hickman did it way way worse in Infinity where every two or three pages were just completely white with the name of the next Chapter :lol

Thats a good question honestly. Maybe its this old Multiverse theory that everything is centered around earth sp when earth is gone everything else vanishes.
