Well, technically, it's at least related. Yu-Gi-Oh becoming a card game manga/anime was due to the massive popularity of a chapter where they played "Magic and Wizards", an early version of the card game later known as "Duel Monsters" which was inspired by the hype around Magic the Gathering by Wizards of the coast.

I consider that one of my favorites too, actually. I'm more of an Opening person, but the franchise does have some neat ending themes. I'm not super familiar with anything beyond GX as I still haven't gotten through 5Ds, but out of those I know Ashita Moshi Kimi Ga Kowaretemo (aka this one) and EYE'S (season 5) are my favorites for the Duel Monsters/Shadow Game anime versions and Endless Dream (season 4) and Wake Up Your Heart (late season 1+season 2) are my favorite ones for GX.

Was contemplating whether or not I should post it here or on the daily toku trivia but decided it was more befitting here.

So true story, Suda, who we know as Philip from Kamen Rider W, is a DJ of his own radio show. When Matsuzaka, Mr. Shinken Red himself, appeared to promote his new movie at the time, for some reason would just GEEK OUT ABOUT YU-GI-OH. This went for a good hour and a half that they hardly talked about the movie he was supposed to promote. Even if Suda tried to steer it back to promoting the movie Matsuzaka would somehow just fidget in Yu-Gi-Oh references and continue babbling about Yu-Gi-Oh.
In conclusion, Suda's radio show becomes a 90-minute love letter about Shinken Red's love for Yu-Gi-Oh. Also, listeners just fed more fuel to the fire that was Shinken Red's geek-out sending Yu-Gi-Oh related mail. Suda later asked Matsuzaka,"How old are you again?" to which Matsuzaka replied "29 years old.".:lolol

Would like to point out that these two are not only just same agencies, but also BFFs who work together in stuff such as the biopic about Japanese band GReeeeN.

It's hilarious that he's so into Yu-Gi-Oh :lol

Does this make anyone else kinda want Shinken Red to get his own themed deck now?

At the least a cameo spot in an anime or spokesperson position for a tournament or whatever kinda like how Takeuchi who played Drive is with Comic-Con Japan. With his level of fame and the fact that he is a legit fan to the point he ditches his movie to geek out about it on public airwaves I think the math could work. :) Him geeking out about Yu-Gi-Oh on radio is like Joseph Gordon Levitt geeking out about Street Fighter on TV which he did on a talk show iirc.

Oh yeah, apparently he is one of the highest tier players in the mobile Yu-Gi-Oh game and people in Japan would speculate if he would use a Samurai-themed deck because Shinkenger to which he said "It is not that easy". And ever since his appearance on Suda's radio show Matsuzaka said that he has seen a rise in users using variants of his name as their user names so for example (the real)Matsuzaka. :lolol

Oh maybe he will use a Super Quantum deck since the red ranger in that deck also uses a lion zord.

Who knows, one thing for sure, if you ever find a Japanese duelist on the highest rank on the mobile game chances are it is him. :)

Suda: Yep.
Matsuzaka: I think the listeners are such troopers, cause I am thinking they must feel sleepy.
Suda: Well, normally yes. What do you do around this time normally? Sleep?
Matsuzaka: Either sleep... or Yu-Gi-Oh.
Suda, Staff: :lolol Wait, wait. People won't know what you mean if you say it so abruptly.
Matsuzaka: True.

After this, people started trolling the show with the listener mails pretending to ask him about his movie ending up to be Yu-Gi-Oh references and jokes. One of them apparently said something in the line of as a fellow duelist I shall go see your new movie. The following week when Matsuzaka made a surprise appearance on the same show one of the listener mails said that they watched Paddington after the radio show or something in that line because he is the Japanese dub voice for Paddington. :lolol
