I don't think it's either, honestly. You said you were rusty on the 3DS, so using a different control stick could throw your game off easily.

Sorry for two posts in a row but I have a question to ask Smashers on this board.

With the recent passing of Satoru Iwata, who cocreated the Smash Bros series, people are talking about wanting to memorialize Iwata in Smash. Other celebrities like Robin Williams have been memorialized in games, and I'd think it'd be very fitting if Iwata had something that can remember by people forever.

So what do you guys think? Do you want to see Iwata memorialized in Smash, and if so, how?

I think its a bit soon to start talking about immortalizing since it hasn't even been a week since he died..

But that's just my opinion.

But I hoped you like some of the combos I start using. Mainly with Roy, because Marth has jack shit for combos.... except up tilt then neutral air.

Anyway, Marth is more of a poke character, using his reach to harass enemies.

So I've being trying out this new technique that's pretty obscure right now, it's called fox trotting. Where you dash and then do another dash. And if you move in a specific way during fox trotting, you can do something very similar to dash dancing called "dance trotting". Can't seem to get dance trotting to work though

Huh.. Never heard of that before.

Day 2 of dance trot practice and I can pull it off more consistently, on 3DS surprisingly. I even got to where I did it twice going back the original direction was going.

My forearm sort of hurts though when I'm doing it though, so I think I'm creating new muscle memory as a result of my practice. I think. Hopefully this pays off somehow.

So the guy who has been winning every major tournament Smash 4 has been at,(INCLUDING THE INVITATIONAL BEFORE THE FUCKING GAME CAME OUT) won EVO for the game.

I mean, props to ZeRo for putting so much work into Smash 4, but I swear to god all I see is Diddy and Shiek fanwank at these tourneys. Pisses me off to see the same 2 characters and the same guy win over, and over, and over and over again.

Well, that's always going to be the nature of Smash. 5 characters are going to dominate completely. It's the story of Melee. It's the story of Brawl. And it's the story of 4.
It's why I don't bother watching high stake Smash tournaments. You're not gonna see the likes of Mewtwo, Ike, or Villager when multiple grand are at stake.

if you're good enough to win consistently, then you deserve to win.
that's completely fair.

plus, there are other tournaments where mid and low tier characters have won.
the UMVC3 tourney was won by a guy using nothing but B tier characters.

This is why the Japanese Smash 4 metagame is more interesting. People experiment with other characters, the same guy doesn't win every tournament and the audience is quiet and respectful.

Literally one of Sheik's combos is 4 F-airs strung together. That's not skill.

if you're good enough to win with it, it's fair.

if you're able to get caught in that, it's fair.

if you're aware of the matchup and aware that sheik can do that, and you get caught, it's fair.

That's why things get hype.
Tiers change. That's always a fact. But someone has to do the work and put in the research to find it out.

I'm not saying things are fair or unfair. I'm just saying it's boring as fuck to watch until someone brings out an unconventional character or an unconventional win.
It's like when Poongko beat Daigo with his Seth, a high tier character, in a manner that no one thought Seth could be played as.

it's not the game's fault and I doubt they're intentionally making Sheik and Diddy good.

like, someone used Juri in the finals at Evo when NOBODY thought Juri would ever belong, and there she was.

hell, Hulk won the Marvel 3 Evo. it proves that if the community wants different characters in finals, then it's the COMMUNITY that should work at it.
