Here's a quick visual comparison between Ryuki (SHF) and Dragon Knight (Figma).

You can see that Ryuki/SHF is a hair taller and some minor differences in body tone and paint apps.
The biggest difference seems to be the jointing on the Figmas, which is much more obvious.

So, yeah, the Figmas are fine stand-ins if displayed properly if you're not up for dropping the $100+ for the SHFs.

I might just get the Figma of Gai/Thrust, and if I really fall in love with the show the second stringers, since I looked up the Figma of Knight and the Figuart and the Figma looks kind of cheap and toy-like and lacks the cool touches like the eyes. The Figmas are nice, but the Figaurts look nicer and look like a better value.

If there was a Figuart I'd definitely you'd suggest over the Figma, it'd be Knight, primarily because he includes Darkwing, which helps justify the pricing (I'd wait for some kind of reissue, though, or a good deal on Mandarake).

But for other characters, the Figma is a great replacement. I have the Figma Zolda (Don't remember his Dragon Knight name) and he doesn't stand out too much on display.



If you care about the contract beast, I'd get the Figuart of Knight/Wing Knight (Being one of 3 to be released with his Contract beast).
If you really don't, then it's worth it. The Figmas are great figures and outside of their odd jointing decisions (Look at how huge Dragon Knight's knee joint is in the comparison!), they're awesome.
