It makes sense to replicate Carranger's tone in a show that's coming on the heels of 2 low rated series. Since Carranger brought back a lot of lapsed viewers.

Never seen Carranger, but if the tone is anything like the Carranger episode of Gokaiger, I am so down. (Jealoushitto for Life!)

I've been wondering that too. I haven't checked recent ratings. The early episodes didn't have such high ratings, but they were an improvement from Go-busters.

I thought Kyoryuger was supposed to be the Carranger today. :D

Kyoryuger wasn't as low-rated as Go-Busters. It still didn't have the best ratings, but during the last years, the ratings for Sentai have always been on a trend downwards. Even Gokaiger had kinda bad ratings...
But, nonetheless, Kyoryuger made up for Go-Busters' toy sales, as people LOVED the Gaburevolver.

Pretty much. It's clearly a season that goes the safe route- popular theme (dinosaurs), tons of comedy and collectibles in the toyline (which was something Go-Busters lacked, as the ranger keys and cards seemed to be really popular).

If Tokkyuger is going to be the modern Carranger, I can't wait for Saban to get it and make it half super serious and half "This is supposed to be funny?" comedy :p

Kyoryuger is still the second lowest rated sentai series ever. Following on the heels of Go-Busters, the worst rated sentai series ever.

And as lighthearted as Kyoryuger can be at times, it's not an overt comedy/parody like Carranger (apparently) was.

Actually Go-Buster just barely averages out as worse than Ohranger, which is itself the 2nd lowest rated ever now. I think Kyoryuger is still just slightly better than Ohranger as far as numbers go.

I absolutely loved Go-Busters and have really enjoyed Kyoryuger. What does that say about my taste? :lol

Would that put you in the camp who'd say Ohranger was better before the alleged tone shift? :lol
