By all accounts, its a pretty 'standard' design for a Sentai robot, five things come together to make a new thing with multicoloured limbs. But I think the combination of the showing holding off on unveiling it until this point, and also the fact that the mecha in Zenkaiger were pretty unorthodox, that seeing Don Onitaijin in full, practical effect glory like this, is making me absolutely, disproportionately hyped. Like I really want this thing's debut to be the greatest thing I've ever seen!
That DX toy looks mighty impressive too o_o It's the most tempted I've ever been to own a Sentai mech... |

I suspect minipla Don OniTaijin will be pretty much redundant. The main draw of minipla for the last X years, aside from price point, has been articulation that's superior to the DX mecha, which have largely been bricks. The poses they've shown are a close-to-minipla level of articulation to begin with. At first glance, the initial promo image looked to me like Super Robot Chogokin. The minipla people aren't going to be able to improve substantially over this design. Other than alternate hands, I'm not sure what else it'll be able to offer.

There's a whole interview that goes into the creation process for Don Onitaijin. It's a fascinating read, going into the insights of Onitaijins creation as well as a bit of insight into past DX Sentai mechas
