Yeah, I do see the appeal of RDs for sure. But I'm only really interested in RDs when they release stuff that might never see the light of day as Gunpla.

Extreme Gundam Type Leos's forms and Astray Outframe for example.

Watched episode three of Build Fighters Try and loved it. Felt so bad for Ral. lol

I absolutely love the R-GyaGya. Just it's design and color scheme are amazing. Love the ending of the episode too.

Speaking of Gunpla, another solid episode of BF TRY this week, my desire to get Build Burnning is growing...

Well don't forget that not every Gundam series from back in the day has been fortunate enough to get updated HG 1/144 kits *the remaining anime mobile suits from Wing for example* so the Damashii figures are a good substitute.

Well, they did: B-Club made Resin kits of them but tackling those is a totally different experience from Gunpla from what I've seen.

Just watched ep. 3 of Try, that was fun. I love the new 3-member team format, it makes for awesome battles. Also, is Gyanko's older brother the guy from season 1 that fought Sei in the first episode? I can't remember his name off the top of my head, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were related.

Yeah, I noticed that. Is it me, or does this season seem more... buy-our-kits-y? There seemed to be quite a few points that reallly felt like gunpla commercials, heck they even go to a Gunpla store in the next episode. I know the whole thing's always been one great big gunpla commercial, but it seems more heavy-handed this year.

Yeah, but that was just the setting, and not much actually took place in the store. This seems more thinly veiled.

I don't think it's focusing on that at all. Build Fighters showed more building in that series than in Try so far. This one is just action. (I'm sure they'll build upgrades later, but not as much as in the first "season")

Two questions.

1. What is build fighters Try? I have heard of build fighters but try seems new.

2.I been out of the gunpla business for many years. The last kit I built was the HG Wing custom from Gundam wing. How has the quality of the builds improved?

At NYCC I was talking to the bandai rep about the RG stuff. Looks good but I want to know is it enough to justify the pricetag?

Build Fighters Try is the sequel to Build Fighters. It takes place years later and is about a team of Gunpla battlers/builders.

Dramatically. There's no comparing them, the modern HGs are far any away superior to the Wing era kits.

They can be if you like them. They're essentially 1/144 scale MGs, but the inner frames are partially assembled on the sprue (and no, I have no idea what witchcraft makes that possible), and the armor shifts around slightly when you move the joints. The only problem with them is that thier complexity makes them fragile (I wasn't exaggerating when I compared them to MGs, they're literally just as complex), so you have to treat them like glass in order to not break anything. But I think they're neat; they're a good, cheaper alternative to MGs, even if they don't have the widest selection.

EDIT: Got distracted answering questions, forgot why I came here in the first place. I've been watching Seed Destiny as I've mentioned before, and I now feel compelled to own all the Zaku variants in the show, regardless of how sub-par the Seed kits are. Noteworthy because I don't usually feel this way about grunt suits. Heck, I used to hate Zakus in general, but Destiny made them awesome.

Love this kit. The swing-out shoulder articulation is fantastic, as are all the effect parts.

You can probably tell that I accidently broke one of the atennna on the head…I glued it back in okay but something to look out for if you're interested in getting this kit.

But yeah, I love that it just towers over most high grades, also love how big and beefy this thing is. Also trying out my Iphone's camera for the first time.

Got into Build Fighters, second Gundam exposure after Reconguista and first that I'm actively sticking to. Never realised it could be so much fun! Love that theme song.

Seems like the perfect series for non-Gundam fans like me to get a bit of exposure.

The show makes SD's look incredible in a way the kits never do for me.

Yet another awesome episode by the way, the slice of life humor is what Build Fighters has always gotten perfectly and this episode continued that trend.

I've only worked with the Unicorn and Strike Freedom SD kits. They didn't have any elbow or knee joints. Are all Gundam SD kits like that?

Pretty much, but modern SDs like the Unicorn usually have a bit wider range of motion.

I'm spoiled by Kotobukiya D-Style kits, then. They have much better articulation and are more emotive for it.
