Just a wild guess, but it occured to me that the rumored line "if Gavv is soft, Zeztz is hard" could refer to their personalities, with Zeztz not showing as much emotion, holding people at more of a distance, or even being more ruthless to his enemies compared to Shouma who is such a sweetheart. I wouldn't want him to be a total jerk or for the story to get overly grimdark, but a protagonist like that could be interesting!

If so, I assume we'll get someone similar to Takumi/Faiz or Hoeru/Gozyu Wolf personality-wise. I do wonder if it may also be referring to its costume aesthetics, Gavv being soft like gummies while Zeztz is more "edgy" for a lack of better words.

In the case of Zeztz, I am sure that the connection with insects will be to one degree or another. That is, it is impossible to say his name, so that it does not turn out to be buzzing.

If it helps, I pronounce it as "Zettz" based on how the katakana is written.


On another note, apparently, both Satoshi Jinbo (who played Prof. Kagawa/Alternative Zero in Ryuki) and Kaba-chan (who played Yu the donut shop owner in Wizard) appeared on an episode of Gaki No Tsukai and got Thai-kicked by Naoki Tanaka (who played Herlock Sholmes in the Lupinranger vs Patranger summer movie). For those not in the know, Tanaka is a comedian who is a regular cast member on Gaki no Tsukai, and pre-pandemic would always get literally kicked in the buttocks by a legit muay thai practitioner whenever the show did their "Do Not Laugh 24 Hours" year-end specials, thus the term Thai kick.

Didn't know where to put this, but Joe Odgiri came back for the Kuuga 25th exhibition as the narrator, proving that he doesn't hate Kuuga, he's just not into tokusatsu (which is fair, he's allowed to like other things).

Yeah these "did you know they hate their role"-rumors cling to actors who don't fancy their appearances in popular franchises, often applied by others to spread rumors, but the reality of the situation in most cases is that these actors just don’t want to be associated with one single thing forever, no matter how much they enjoyed working on it.

This is true especially in Toku which is a medium were many actors make their first big appearance to get a hold in the industry. At some point after that you preferably have much bigger projects in your career to work on.

Some actors are of course perfectly fine reprising their role, others don’t want that image stuck on them, and then there are those that quit acting altogether because it wasn’t for them. All of this is valid.

It is however, nice to see that Odgiri is working on the project. For the longest time I personally wanted for him to return because the character of Yusuke Godai would fit wonderfully for a single crossover movie role, as someone who casually drops into a story and then leaves again.

That picture is awesome by the way, so good to see these legends reunited.

Takatera promised Odagiri a gamechanger of a show, and promised he did. Further proof that Odagiri didn't hate Kuuga for me was when he had a brief cameo for Daimajin Kanon, Takatera's post-Hibiki endeavor. Show wasn't something to write home about, but Odagiri appearing in it brought a smile to my face at the time.

Odagiri has stated in interviews that he never hated Kuuga, just that he didn't want to act in toku productions anymore, was all.
He dipped his toe into things, found it wasn't for him, and moved on.

It's just that the internet is a giant game of telephone, and since most of these kinds of interviews aren't translated, we only have 2nd hand info to go off of. And they interpreted "I'm not interested in returning" as "I hated my time doing it"

It has just occured to me, and I find this hilarious, that Saber Crimson Dragon isn't actually crimson. I don't think there's even a speck of crimson on that suit.

Gotchard is weird for me in that I generally do like the show, but it's admittedly for very vibes based reasons. Gotchard was emulating a style of Rider show that I personally have been wanting for a while, so I had more interest in it compared to other recent Rider shows. It absolutely has problems and there's things that I wished it did differently. However I find that I'm also very forgiving of those problems, mostly because like the show itself being about a bunch of young characters navigating through life and facing adult circumstances, the production team also consisted of a lot of young creatives who were essentially making their first show. In a sense, Gotchard really is like youth itself, full of creativity and ambition, not necessarily getting all the steps right, but you can tell it has a lot of enthusiasm and potential behind it.

Here are my best bets on my fusion rider idea! And what do you all think on the possibilities? Because of the themes alphabetical:

I've noticed a shift in how the monster-of-the-week suits work. In a lot of Showa and Heisei seasons, it looks like each monster is a whole new suit, though often with parts kitbashed from previous monsters in the same season. But in a few Heisei and every Reiwa season so far, the monster suits seem to be more modular:

- Ghost and Saber use one generic lower half suit for all the monsters and combine it with unique upper halves (which a lot of recent Sentai seem to be doing too).

- Build, Revice and Gavv do something similar but with multiple different lower halves, and Build even mixed-and-matched them, using a repainted upper half and a different lower half to make a new version of the same monster.

- Zero-One and Gotchard use a whole generic base suit for all their monsters, not just a lower half, and makes them unique by adding different heads, weapons and various other attachments.

- Geats mixes the methods, using a base suit with attachments (in this case clothes) for the pawn Jyamato, and a lower half with unique upper halves for the advanced Jyamato.

What are people's thoughts on this? Personally I have mixed feelings, sometimes it comes across as cheap and lazy (though I don't know what it's like behind-the-scenes, modular suits might take more effort than I realize), but other times I find it's really good for giving the monsters a unified aesthetic.

Personally, I always like it when monsters from the same show have something in common. And if it can be done, and also save money, then I don't see anything wrong with it. The main thing is that the monsters themselves and their plots are interesting. But if there is a show where universal riders in the style of Geats meet universal kaijins in the style of Gotchard, it will look very lazy.
Although, of course, the costume designers of Toei had the most rest during Decade.

So long as it's not the same 5 monsters over and over again(Build), I'm lax about it.

I subscribe to every word. I also catch myself thinking that I forgive Gotchard a lot. I just feel that the show has a soul and I just can't be angry with it.

As for what it's looking like for villains, Glotta's back, people were very much on the money of Koyomi returning and likely as Wiseman. And then... Mimei, that one Hundred General who became Glare and got killed by Zein. Y'know what sure why not. This is a series that just wants to celebrate whichever female cast member they can and I'm down for it.

My only hope is we keep getting more of these to where we can line up a December release next year that can result in "Girls Remix saves Christmas" because who wouldn't want that?

Unreal. Would not've been in my Top 25 requests for a Girls Remix return; probably would not've even cracked the Top 3 for Kiva ladies. But I love a deep cut, and every Heisei Phase 1 heroine who makes a return increases the likelihood that I'll finally get a Natsumi As Kiva-la appearance, and that makes me happy to keep rooting for the inevitable if wildly unnecessary returns of characters like Juka From Kabuto. Give her a 2026 return, just to keep eliminating possibilities for Natsumi's chance.

Look at the logo, it has a ton of iconography representing the various cast members there. A scythe for Glotta, Mimei's sword right next to it, a unicorn and a civet for Rinne and Sara. There's a ring hanging from a tree which is Koyomi. I cannot find a slipper for the life of me for Akiko though. (Edit: No wait I found it, it's smacking the skull lmao)

But right above the house is... Kiva-la.

I did see that, but I figure it's just gonna be the puppet for spooky season lady adventures. (Or Shizuka is the new Kiva-la, which... whatever, I won't love it or hate it, it's fine.) I am not getting hopes up for an actual Natsumi Henshins Into Kiva-la sequence, because I couldn't handle the disappointment.

A Girl Remix, and even on a Halloween theme?! Super! It's a bit of a pity that only Akiko participates from the first remix, but the new cast amazes with its non-obviousness. That is, Shizuka has already been mentioned (I wonder if they will remember that she is the Queen of the Castle in the Demon World?). Sara is also far from the first or even the second choice, plus she is also clearly remembered as a rider. Also Koyomi, and in the camp of villains! Nayuta's appearance was expected, but I wonder what role she'll play. I think Glotta and Mimei hit the spot for their gothic vibes, perfect for the Halloween theme, but I'm really amazed at the variety of people who might return (or even appear) in these specials. Sakamoto is awesome!

While not canon, at least as far as I'm aware, Megumi from Kiva did transform into Kivala at one point in the Kiva SIC mini story thing that was serialized in one of the Japanese hobby magazines back when SICs were still hot. Heck, we even had a Smart Lady played by Yuria Haga, Mari from Faiz herself, become Delta in Outsiders iirc.
Off topic, speaking of Outsiders and SIC, a shame they never brought in the G1 armor, as in the Prototype for G3 in Mighty Form colors that was taken over by an Unknown in the SIC Hero Saga chapter for Agito.

It's very funny how often showa era riders were college students when that's almost unheard for riders in the Heisei era onward. The only one that's coming to mind is Kamen Rider Tiger from Ryuki.

Anyone saw the Kamen Rider Black Sun vs Darom fight? Darom is controlling KRBS's fist using something that looks like chi(the invisible energy)in between his two palms. He then moves the fist around the room like something out of wuxia before twisting KRBS's hand for quite some time as if he is using Tai Chi(or Aikido). Well,I like wuxia AND Kamen Rider but I don't think the two should mix. :D

I think the goal is to simultaneously emphasize Darom's strength and age, and this is the best way they came up with. But yeah, without any explanation, it looks out of place, especially with the earthy aesthetic of Black Sun. I think I'd accept it in Gekiranger or Super-1.

Probably not befitting for Black Sun, but if Kamen Rider ever goes Gekiranger on us one of these days in a future rider show, I'm all in. :rock: :lolol

I think so. The 1970s were a time when the topic of World War II ceased to be so personal, but it still remained intriguing.
