Ultraman X Episode 2 was another great one. Spoilers ahoy!
I enjoyed how they considered the monster's side of the story, how it wreaking havoc on humanity was simply an attempt to protect its egg. It added layers of complexity to the monster fight than simply "monster shows up, gets beaten by Ultraman." Again, the kaiju effects are breathtaking. There's really a sense of scale, that there is a battle of titans going on all around the human characters. Dr. Guruman's an interesting character. :lol It's not the first time I've seen his species, but it's nice to see them return again as a friendly race. This bit of world-building is awesome. |

I will suggest Nexus and UltraSeven X because you can finish them relatively quicker than other series. Sadly Nexus is only 37 episodes but it's an amazing series. |
Ultraman X episode 3 is pretty good.

Yeah I'm hooked on this show now, great looking Kaiju-battles and likable characters without too much bullshit. The lab-girl is annoying as hell but I have the slight feeling even she will receive some development later on.
Anyway, Episode 3 was great. The night battle looked phenomenal, loved every second of it. |
This episode was kind of a mixed bag for me. The battle at the end was superb as always. I always like when fights take place at night and this one is no different. I also love how this show gets across how massive the scale of these battles are. Something thats always missing from Sentai and Riders giant battles.
I also liked that we got our first runner introduced in the show. Really intrigued to find out whats up with the shrieking women. And now the part or parts I really disliked. First of all the acting of that Tachibana Lady is terrible and I mean really terrible and second I dont like the subplot Asuna got in this episode. Especially since I dont know how I´m supposed to read it. The way it is presented is that because she was good at Kendo a boy she liked wouldnt go out with her so she decided to be super girly to get boys to date her...which is an awful message for girls. On the other side I could see the show trying to make the case that you can be tough and still want to embrace your really feminine side which is completely fine. But like I said the way it was handled in the episode presents the whole thing more like the first scenario. I hope the show picks up on that again since how it stand now I think this was a terrible move on the shows part. |
UltraMan X Episode 3: Dr. Gourman is hilarious, sheesh 13 meals that's a lot. I also like that he created the blaster with the power of UltraMan X, that's good that the XiO team has the power to fight the Kaiju besides just UltraMan; that's one of my favorite parts of UltraMan is when the team can win too. I liked learning about Asuna's back story and that she wants to be cute and girly because she didn't grow up like that and grew up more like a tomboy and I like that because she should be able to choose how she wants to do things. X is hilarious too, I just love that the UltraMan talks here, he reminds me of Taro lol. Daichi and X are quite a pair I love them, X asks normal questions that could get him trouble and Daichi trying to stop him from saying stuff is fun. I like him hiding his secret identity so far. I love when the cards come and X is like give me a moment. The fight scenes are spectacular and the special effects are awesome this is a very visual show that's awesome. Also I enjoyed the Land Mode of the Musketty it was very Landmaster-like and that's really cool. I can't wait for more the next episode looks great, I hope focusing more on the other team members too.

Just watched Episode 4 of Ultraman X and it was fantastic. The Kaiju-battles were top-notch again, very impressive, and I liked that the XIO-group was the focus this time instead of just supporting X.
And it seems my prediction was correct: The next episode focuses on the most annoying character, the lab girl, and I hope it will make me like her more. |
UltraMan X Episode 4: This was a great use of the XiO group here. I was so happy to see that they could kick ass and defeat the monsters. Asuna, Wataru, and Hayato are all fun and awesome characters, I can't wait to see them evolve and grow just like Daichi. The supporting cast is very strong here and one of the best parts here. I love that the military force can defeat the aliens and the monsters besides the UltraMan always doing it; I liked that in Nexus as well. Also I enjoyed Daichi and X getting more of an understanding with each other as they were stuck in the monster's stomach. The action was freaking fantastic from everyone on the XiO team to Daichi/X kicking ass, hell the moon fight was spectacular. I am loving this series and I can't wait for UltraMan Zero next week and I just can't wait for more.

I didn't know where to post this, but Ultraman Ginga S has now been completely subbed
I had plans for what I was going to watch after I finished Leo. I have now changed those plans. I've been wanting more Ginga S (beyond the 4 episodes that were out before) for a while. |
