So there's two new Gouf HGs coming out. One is just a brown recolor labeled as a Prototype Gouf.

Yes. The brown one is just in the colors of the old MSV kit, while the blue one is show/manga accurate.

Makes me glad I don't own any RX78s in 1/100 scale yet, this guy looks great.

Not necessarily related to Gundam, but I have been playing a ton of Galak Z on PS4. It's a great Space shooter rogue-like with an aesthetic similar to 80s anime and 0079. Plus it has a super badass prototype mech in it. It's better then all of the Gundam games that have come out here recently, so check it out.

What is the difference between Gundam The Origin and the original Gundam series? I don't exactly follow any anime series as much as the gunpla stuff. lol.

As far as I know, Gundam Origin is told through Char's perspective. So you'll be seeing a lot his younger days.

It's basically a modernized retelling, some technology changes, a few differences in characterization, that kind of stuff, think regular Marvel vs Ultimate Marvel.

The OVAs seem to be focusing on the OYW backstory so far though.

Gundam The Origin the manga is a retelling of the original series with more backstory for the characters. Gundam The Origin the OVA adapts parts of the manga, but isn't intended to be a substitute for the original site like the manga was. Both the manga and the OVA feature more detailed redesigns for all the MS, hence all the new kits we've been getting.
