Not really sure what I thought of this week's episode. I'm going to need to see it again before I can fairly judge it.
|
Eh, it was pretty good. The weakest in the series, but still pretty strong. That might just be me enjoying the twist on normal found footage things (even if I guessed it halfway through) but it as pretty spooky.
|
I finished the first Series of "New Who" yesterday and it was quite the experience. I could never get into Doctor Who and for the first half of Series 1 I still struggled to really get invested. But as soon as the first Dalek episode happened I was hooked and I couldnt stop watching. Really glad I managed to work through the first half and not miss out on some really fun episodes. Eccleston was extremely fun as the Doctor and I'm kinda sad we only got one season with him.
|
Dalek is just the best thing ever :D
|
Yeah it was great. I loved how they put the Doctor in this really dark place emotionally.
|
"Stupid" is the only word that springs to mind right now.
|
And on this day, 0 damns were given about Clara Oswald. Exactly no damns. At least by me.

Not sure how to feel about tonight's episode. It was good, overall, and I quite liked it, but the ending was... I don't know. Clara has never been my favorite companion - not even top ten - but I still thought I'd find her death more moving. It's probably because I'd seen a few news articles this morning that gave away this was Coleman's last episode, which kind of made the whole plot super obvious from the moment we found out the tattoos were transferable. Honestly, it just seemed a little dragged out and ultimately nowhere near as good as her departure last season would've been. At this point I'm more curious to see what happens to the Doctor than I am dwelling on Clara's death, especially when he next runs into Ashildr.
|
Clara's dead. Meh. Know why I don't care? Say it with me if you've heard this before; She had the perfect ending last Christmas. It tied into the Christmas before, it was touching, it was absolutely perfect in every single way from emotion to storytelling. And she decided lol nope coming back. Now she died and all I did was say "Well, that happened".
Well, now that that's over. Bring on Osgood! |

Meh is all I can say about it. Rose's departure was heartbreaking, Martha's was kinda sad I guess, Donna's was sad, Amy and Rory's was extremely sad (especially Amy's), but Clara's is bland and plain. She died because she tried to be Clara Who. Couldn't even feel emotional about it

I think Osgood works best in small doses, like the Paternoster Gang. Quote:

Completed Series 2 and Series 3. I liked Series 2 about as much as the first one. There where some okay episodes but also some really great ones like the finale and the Cybermen two-parter. Tennant is fun as the Doctor but I dont like him as much as Eccleston. Series 3 was a big letdown for me. Except for 42, Blink and the episodes involving the Master I found this series to be rather bland and forgettable. It just didnt manage to keep my attention for most of the episodes. I was also really dissappointed by Martha as the new companion. Rose had her flaws but I still enjoyed her a lot more. Martha was just kinda bland and boring for the most part.
|
Aw, I like Martha :( she isn't the best companion, but even now she lives in Rose' shadow and she develops so much better in the long run. You'll see ;)
I REALLY hate the Cyberman 2-parter though. For newcomers to the show it comes across as such a good story (and I usually LOVE parallel world stuff), but its such a massive crap over the classic Cybermen. They take away everything interesting about their origin and turn it into a watered down version of the Daleks'. |

Fair enough. I can see it not working for someone who is much more familiar with the Franchsie. I just really enjoyed the way they presented the Cybermen in those episode and the whole atmosphere of those episodes. I kid you not I was tucked in my blanket and scared shitless once they really started getting involved :lol |
You should really check out some of the 60s Cybermen stuff if you ever get a chance. They were really creepy back then :D

Can I just say how much I hated that Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks two parter? Like, I really really REALLY hate it.
|
Yeah, it's not a very good story. The hybrid Sec looks awful, and it doesn't make much sense either because a Dalek should never be in a position where it doubts its own perfection like that. You could argue the Cult of Skaro is wired differently to other Daleks, but when you get into the finer details of Dalek hierarchy that raises all sorts of other questions.
This is one of my biggest problems post series 1 of the reboot - no one can write the Daleks very well. Most stories revolve around giving them characteristics they shouldn't have. |

At least I got to pretend that Andrew Garfield is just playing Peter Parkers grandfather :lol |
Yeah Dalek handled everything brilliantly. It nailed exactly how it should happen and what would be the result of it.
|
Having a Dalek become a Humanoid felt much more like the setup to a really gross Slash Fiction :lol

Holy crap Heaven Sent was such a good episode. One of the best so far in Series 9! All the mystery and confusion worked so well with the 12th Doctor and I did not expect the revelation and the cliffhanger! Got more information about the Hybrid which was interesting to hear. I can't wait for the finale! I don't think I've ever been excited for a finale!
|
why am i the one thinking they are bring back the hole doctor half human and half time lord thing again cause that what i thinking the hybrid is and the last time i heard of the Doctor being a half and half of some thing was back in the docto who the movie with number eight
|
We just watched episodes 9 and 10 and my god, episode 9 is hands down the worst episode to come out since "Love and Monsters." It was terrible. Whoever thought it was a good idea to do a found footage episode was an idiot because it did not work. The plot didn't make a lick of sense and it just stops, there was no resolution. The next episode though was great, but I'm really surprised they got rid of Clara like that. DAMN!!
|
Capaldi does rage quite well. The problem is, for me, it's expected. You expect him, for whatever reason, to be angry. And full of that deep seeded anger. That was one thing I loved about 11. You never saw the rage coming. One minute he was this bouncing kitten going from one shiney thing to the next but then.. He surprised you. And you saw the rage of 900 years.
|
Heaven Sent was just b e a u t i f u l ! Looking forward to the finale!
「@Dr Kain」 Episodes written by Mark Gatiss tend to be “hit or miss” for me. The Crimson Horror remains my favourite of the episode he’s written, but I also like The Unquiet Dead, Cold War and Robot of Sherwood. Sleep No More… well I appreciate the writer’s attempt at trying something different. |

The whole half-human thing with the 8th Doctor was a lie. I believe that one of the audio books or novels for the 8th Doctor explains that. |

Holy crap, this week's episode.
Unless the finale seriously drops the ball, this is definitely going down as the best year of the modern series. Oh man, those last ten minutes... |
I don't know, seasons 2-4 and 6 are pretty hard to top as far as finales go. Actually, all of the season finales have been top notch every season, but those four are easily the best. The only mediocre season this show has had was 7.

I'm still laughing at the fact we were talking about Evolution of the Daleks a few days ago and, just this episode, the Doctor goes "Daleks would never be half anything!" :p Even he thought that sucked.
So yeah. Really good episode, not surprised Gallifrey is back , but am hyped for next week. 8.8/10 |
Okay just caught up on this week's episode because I was out last night. DAMN that was intense! I honestly think that wasn't just one of the best episodes since the relaunch, it could easily go down as one of Doctor Who's all time greats. I would hate to be the parent that had to explained some of that to their kids though - the show has been skirting the line of "family" for a while now that this one was definitely pushing it. Not at all complaining about it, just an observation.
Can't wait for the finale now, something tells me it's going to be a good one. Also, crackpot theory for the week - Did the Doctor say "the hybrid is me" or did he possibly say "the hybrid is Me"? Probably not, but with Ashildr coming back again next week it's something worth mulling over. I highly doubt the half human thing will be making the rounds again though. Season 4 tried it's damn hardest to make that not a thing and it's hardly a popular moment in the show's history. Every medium seems to have tried to retcon it at least once :lol |

Ha. He was inside his Confession/Will the whole time.. Bigger on the Inside, Time Lord tech. But it still leaves who set it all up in first place to force him inside. My money is either on Rasalon not being dead or on Missy starting trouble
