Quantum is hardly a Red in the sense that we view the term. Like, when we talk about 'Reds', we're also thinking in terms of their focus; their prominence; their basically being the main character.

Time Force Quantum is a main character, but Time Force Red is the main character.

Would be interesting to see new concepts if Hasbro make original seasons based from Gorenger through Jetman.

His actor is Lebanese (and pretty much the first middle eastern actor to play a Ranger, possibly) but Nick is caucasian judging by his parents.

However, “Caucasian” is a stupid term because it doesn’t colloquially mean what it actually means. Usually it just means “white European descent” but that’s not what people from the actual Caucas mountains are. Kim Kardashian is Caucasian while Queen Elizabeth II is not, yet they both are Caucasian.

Do you guys think Saban would improve the show after he bought back from Disney ?

If you're asking the assumption that Saban would do it different and better than Disney, I think his first and main concern was his pocket book! Everyone was up in arms over Disney's treatment of the franchise, and for awhile it seemed as though everything was said and done as RPM was to be something of a swan song. Saban's involvement with Samurai made some happy, but that happiness was slowly fading. Once Megaforce/Super Megaforce happened, happiness seemed like a distant memory! The Disney Era was looking a lot better than some gave it credit for, and some thinking we were happier with the House of Mouse than we realized. Dino Charge helped bring some of that happy back. The general idea when Hasbro obtained the franchise was that Saban was trying to recapture old magic (capitalizing on two separate anniversaries, the 20th and 25th) and to build Power Rangers into something respectable and worth a lot of money that would make him richer, even if he were to sell it off. When the Neo-Saban Era had done what it could, he made a financial decision and one that was probably a contingency plan in play from the beginning, and made out like a bandit in the process!

I thought that Saban would bring back some old concepts from the old saban entertainment seasons like the same fight choreograpghy and serious tone plots.

Unfortunately, that's an old trap! Capitalizing on the classics to try and recapture old magic from a bygone era.

It didn't work because of Nick influence.

I told myself I'd probably never watch a series of Power Rangers because I like Sentai/KRider/Ultraman/Godzilla/Garo, etc. and have no interest in 'the American rip-off version'.

But i was buying some Shout Factory Sentai collections and i noticed PRangers RPM was only like $10. for the entire series and figured, "what the hell' and bought it.

Now I'm almost done with the first disk.

It's surprisingly good. The story is interesting and the fights are good.

Oddly, RPM was a season I didn't focus too hard on at the time of its release because of my love for Sentai! I had just gotten out of high school and saw the first and maybe second episode after surgery and didn't see any need to give it a harder shake. I have since learned that I was wrong for assuming that Disney's swan song was going to be terrible because of the changes it made to Go-Onger!

Ever since Saban started again with Samurai, I have been looking at the episodes as close as possible, though I was just getting back to it with Samurai, and I didn't always catch every episode.

By Megaforce, virtually every episode on its original airdate (though some exceptions exist and I tend to record them just in case). That hasn't always been easy, and at times it has been painful - my grandmother passed the same day as an episode of Super Ninja Steel!

Even if the season is largely garbage, I keep at it. Remember, Star Trek: TNG wasn't all that good until a couple of seasons in!

Although I have feared I may be turning into a Sentai snob I do try and give credit where credit is due, for example I do prefer some like RPM to their original Sentai but I think the UK should be able to make and show it's own Sentai dubs if there's a particularly better Japanese version. Maybe the UK would have never shown Sentai or maybe if Power Rangers hadn't come along it would have eventually, who knows.

A micronauts-like PR season would be awesome.

Yeah I prefer Sentai as it seems to be aimed at an older audience. I mean there's blood and murder and (limited) sexuality, whereas from what I've seen of MMPR it's seemingly aimed at younger children. (my introduction to Sentai was Akibaranger so I sort of came to it from an odd direction. But I've seen a few more Sentai series since Akibaranger and I definitely enjoy it.)

But RPM was cheap and I was curious about the whole 'army of robots' thing, so I watched the first episode which quickly turned into about 5 episodes. And I'm looking forward to seeing how the story goes.

It's definitely a darker PRangers than I was expecting, but that's why I'm liking it too.

Also the fights have been really good. I really like acrobatic fights with lots of somersaults and kicks and flying through the air types of stunts. And this has all that.

PR gets a bad rep due to MMPR being very kid-driven, nothing wrong with that because it's tje 90s, but as a result it made the franchise into a joke.

Also Koichi Sakamoto directed the action scenes for the majority of the franchise, although be warned that the explosions are extremely exaggreated.

I'm not the biggest PR fan because most of the PR shows that I have seen are pretty bad for the most part and I prefer Sentai because that's how the show was originally made. Same goes with Macross and Robotech. I still respect PR for getting a new generation into Toku and being a part of many people's childhoods (including mine).

I do think RPM is a pretty good show, but some fans do over wank it at times.

If Saban left as a consultant, Hasbro will have enough creative freedom in the franchise.

Japan's standers for kids are different from the US. For example, Shonen anime like My Hero Academia, One Piece, Dragon Ball Super, Black Clover, etc. are for kids in Japan, but they are rated 13+ in the US. Same with Toku seeing that Gridman (1994) is rated TV-14 when the show is pretty much for kids.

I think they allow more violence and mature themes in their kids shows probably because Japan gives their kids much more of the benefit of the doubt compare to the US.

yeah I think the US coddles its kids way too much.

It leaves many of them unprepared for adulthood.

Well, it's hardly like Japan is a perfect society with no problems in regards to how kids are treated or how they develop. Just because we like the content they happen to produce for kids doesn't mean it's better than what we have in the UK and US. I've certainly heard of a looot of issues in Japan in regards to how kids are treated societally and how many end up, and I've gotta say it worries me sometimes.

But... yeah, anyway.




Talking of the US and UK; I've heard a lot of issues with Beast Morphers toy distribution in the US, but how is it over here in the UK? A local toy store I've been to has the wave 1 basic figures and a few other roleplay toys alongside leftover Ninja Steel stock, and I've seen a few 12'' figures at a few random budget stores. Can anyone in the UK echo that or am I just super unlucky?

PR Hasbro can do anythting with the franchise when Saban left.

Getting rid of trying to be like MMPR every season would be the start.

Getting rid of go go words would be of them.

Finished RPM and enjoyed it. Started watching Time Force and am enjoying it even more.

I begrudgingly admit I may have been wrong about MMPR. I was always pretty insistent that only Japan makes good Tokusatsu, but I've been impressed so far. They're fun shows.

To be fair, RPM and Time Force are fan-favorites! If you're aware of the source material of those seasons, Go-Onger and Timeranger, then the changes will be super obvious, but that shouldn't be a reason to avoid either of them. I made that mistake during RPM's original run!

No I haven't seen the Sentai versions of them. Ive only seen Zyuranger, Dairanger, Carranger ... and Akibaranger (unofficial but it got me started on Sentai)

Time Force from what I hear hews very close to Timeranger; but RPM is an EXTREME deviation from Go-Onger in a way not really seen since the Zordon era.

I'd like to see a Shazam mage-like mentor someday.

If I may, I would love to recommend you THE LAST SHOWA-ERA SUPER SENTAI and masterpiece of a season. It has EEEEEEEEEVRYTHING; betrayal, drama, redemption, pompadour hair-dos, first season to have a female blue ranger which was VERY new at the time, Kamen Rider Ghost's dad as the yellow ranger, the narrator of Kamen Rider OOO as the big bad boss, and how could I leave out the fact that they are the first team to ever wear the Olympics color. Oh, and they got a moonwalking assistant robot. :lolol
But really though, I cannot stress at how much this was a good season. The tagline already sets up the show perfectly.

SHOUT! never got around to Liveman! I believe there was a rumor that Fiveman was going to be officially announced, but Hasbro slowed everything down for one reason or another. It would've taken awhile to get to Liveman, anyway. Going Backwards with Fiveman as a starting point: Fiveman, Turboranger, Liveman.

That said, SHOUT! should've continued and I hope that they (or someone) will. The Mill Creek deal for Ultraman has me optimistic that Hasbro/SHOUT! will maintain a close eye on the sales and if they are sufficient enough, then they may be willing to respond to fandom desires and give Western Sentai releases another go!

I forgot, Kikaider, THE KIKAIDER, appears as the principal/dean of their school in the beginning of the show. I guess dean is more accurate since it seems to be post-secondary. Also this was the season that inspired Hurricanger's basic premise and this show seemed to be inspired by Sun Vulcan in terms of its initial roster of three members each resembling an animal of air, land, and sea. I guess we can say that to a degree Hurricanger was an updated, SLIGHTLY tame version of Liveman with ninjas.

Because many people already cut their cable in the last years and now they're watching Netflix or Amazon.

While many are cord-cutting, that doesn't necessarily mean that the franchise will leave Cable anytime soon!

Cable/Satellite maintain a strong hold despite the high number of streaming services.

That being said, an exclusive series on Netflix isn't terrible either!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Hasbro have a new Transformers series coming to Netflix soon? That means that Netflix and Hasbro have already established a partnership which could have significant ramifications for their properties and the respective fandoms. Problem there is that Netflix is going downhill!

Short Answer: Sooner the Rangerverse leaves Nick, the better!
