I would like to point out that this isn't a dedicated digimon card game - bandai owns the right to both battle spirits and digimon so they made a few collaboration booster sets, they did the same with kamen rider, Ultraman and Godzilla

So there's the Last Evolution movie coming up to celebrate Digimon Adventure's 20th anniversary. I hope that's not the end of Digimon.

I've heard about Biyomon/Garudamon, but no release date has been announced yet and it's almost August. That post was back in March.

I haven't finished watching Digimon Adventure Tri, and from what I hear it's not all that good. I got into some spoilers but I won't mention them here. But from what I gather no one cares about their missing 02 friends and the character arcs are misplaced and poorly timed. I hope the new movie fixes those issues, but it seems like it's just fixated on Tai and Agumon.

They 02 kids only appear in the movies as stills with no word on what happened to their Digimon. The first half of Tri was enjoyable but after that everything will just keep you saying "Wait so what was the point?". The things they do in Tri is can be so frustrating to a point that you honestly shouldn't care about spoiling it so the people who have not watch it yet will know what will waiting for them if they decide to watch.

Yeah, Tri was a real slap in the face after what they did to the four 02 kids. I kept watching hoping they get some sort of comeback moment but no.

The line might be dead at this point. Which doesn't surprise me, considering how long these things sat at retail they seem to have sold poorly. A shame really, I wanted to see Guilmon / Dukemon released.

What about Veedramon, Aeroveedramon and Ulforceveedramon

Alternate evolution branch, ExVeemon is a "pure" breed of Veedramon which itself apparently doesn't exist in 02.

But I do love me some Veedramon, it might actually be my favorite, I adore the V-Tamer 01 manga.

Sure, I wish they did. Considering how many evolutions which never appeared in any animated show there are, I'm surprised there aren’t any for these two yet.

Aquilamon at least has a unique mega form with Valkyrimon, but it’s more of an upgrade to Silphymon than anything else.

Ankylomon just becomes Seraphimon or Vikemon, neither makes sense to me.

Yeah, only jewelbeemon the ultimate form of Stingmon shows up in Digimon Xros.

Considering the sheer amount of branching paths for each Digimon, it wouldn't be out of the question to just, you know...Create new evolution lines for the 02 casts' mons that don't rely on fusion.

Not sure if you are joking or just want a newer version but there already is a mode changing Imperialdramon made years ago.

The point of the Digivolving Spirits is to have an adult collectible version of that toy much like how Agumon and Gabumon were from the old Bandai toyline for kids 20 years ago. So having a Digivolving Spirits Imperialdramon would look much nicer than a 19 year old made safe for kids version. Especially one likely made by Bandai America.

I hope the line isn't dead. I did enjoy the concept, especially Tentomon and Patamon. Those are the two I plan to get next. Though if it is dead it's because Bandai shot themselves in the foot with releasing Diabolomon, Alphamon, and Angewomon after WarGreymon and MetaGarurumon. There's nothing wrong with Diabolomon's figure it's just he's not recognizable to mainstream Digimon fans (no one saw Digimon: The Movie, I'm sorry they just didn't). Angewomon and Alphamon however had those horrendous pieces of kibble on their backs that distract from the overall look of those figures (even worse than most). And don't even get me started on Angewomon's problems. It seems just as the line was improving Bandai gave up on it. I am sure besides the kibble the main reason for its failure was the cost. It's no where near Soul of Chogokin prices, but $60 to $90 for a shell-former? No Millennials that grew up with the show would be willing to spend that every 3 to 6 months. If Bandai plans to continue the line going they have to be innovative not only with design but with cost too. Keep it under $50 and release known Digimon.

I don’t know about that. It was shown in cinemas across the west, I saw it cinemas when I was little, and I'm now their target audience. Plus, with how crazy popular Omegamon is people surely checked out his debut and are thus aware of who Diaboromon is.

Plus, Diaboromon rarely gets figures, let alone articulated ones aimed at collectors. That alone makes him more desirable even for people who don’t care about gimmick figures but want something to face off against their Omegamon figure.

Personally, I think people got tired of the gimmick. It’s just shellformers. Very well done shellformers but still. A new release every two months was pushing it too hard, there were multiple future pre-order popping up before the first figure was even out.

Maybe they should just try plain old Figuarts next time. Something beyond the first three seasons for a change. I think the H Spirits would be awesome as SHF's. Just make Agunimon and Lobomon and see if they sell.

It was great. The stupid pop-rock dub kinda ruined it but as a kid I didn’t care.

I find it a little hard to believe.

I saw the Digimon: The Movie when it came out in theathers twice to get all of the cards. I saw the first time with my dad, and my sisters on the opening weekend. The second time with my friends and we end up seeing Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 afterwards.

The original Japanese versions of the movie are not too bad for what they are. I saw Digimon: Adventure Our War Game like nearly a year later on a bootleg VHS tape with iffy subs (There was hardly anyon who subbed Digimon at the time). The dub fused three movies into one and try to link each other. The dub has a so-bad its good vibe to it in my opinion.

The soundtrack for that movie was pretty much any major song on the mainstream raido in 1999 and 2000. I'm surprise music from Creed and didn't show up in the movie. It was somewhat common for animated movies for kids to have rock and music soundtracks. The dub for DBZ Movie 4 & 5 (Lord Slug and Cooler's Revenge) also had popular music in their soundtrack. I also remember the Pokemon movie having a pop music soundtrack.

That's funny, the movie came out here in Brazil direct-to-video in VHS.

Unless you are a newer fan then you know who Diablomon is. Hell even the design itself should help sell the toy.

Digimon: The Movie I believe only got a domestic release. It made over 16 million, on a 5 million budget. That's a modest success but indicates a small viewership. I was a big Digimon fan as a kid, still am, but I never saw Digimon: The Movie in theaters and most of my friends did not as well. We weren't aware of Omimon/Omegamon until he was referenced in Adventure 02. So super die hard fans that saw everything and then some probably saw this film and the Japanese versions if they had the means to. More passive fans probably aren't that aware of Diabolomon. They may recognize it at a glance but it's not a figure they have ties to or desire to own unlike the classic characters from the tv series.

So my whole point was perhaps the mainstream fandom was exposed to Diabolomon at some point with the tv airing of Digimon: The Movie (most likely didn't see it in theaters), but have no attachment to it like they do the eight digimon that belong to the core digidestines. Diabolomon should follow an Omegamon/Omnimon figure.
