I've been curious, how is everyone liking DC Rebirth so far. I personally don't like the two comics a month thing since I have to limit the number of comics I buy, otherwise I'd just spend too much. So I just decided to dedicate myself to Batman and Nightwing. How do you guys feel about the line up and what comics interest you?

It's been phenomenal. All fo the stories have been fun and enjoyable and they feel like super heroes again. Batman isn't a jackass. Wally West is back. Aquaman has been fun. Justice League #1 that came out yesterday was really enjoyable. Action Comics has been great and a return to the true Superman whiel Flash is good.

I did pick up the Batgirl and the Birds of Prey comic, so I can't wait to read that one. Looking forward to Titans next week.

How is Justice League. I've been considering picking it up, but the reviews have not been brutal for some reason. How would you rate whatever has been released for JL? Also what's your most recommended title so far?

Well I thought the Rebirth issue for JL kind of sucked. However, issue 1 was really enjoyable.

The titles I would recommend the most are Titans, Aquaman, and Action Comics. Also, from what it sounds like, Titans is going to be the title that is going to deal with the main Rebirth storyline, so that may be the most important title to read right now.

Not a huge fan of the artstyle, but it seems decent enough...might give the first couple episodes a try.

I like the choice of heroes for JL Action. I'm surprised Nightwing or Robin isn't in it. Obviously they're not JL members but if the villain is Joker, it would make sense.

Wonder Woman's face needs a lot of work. Hopefully they'll fix it up as things progress.

Also, it seems Jaime's design benefits greatly from the armor system, which is nice (Also dig the maskless look on one design).

I hope this is false. Because if this is true, that means this is the reason they made the movie R.

The scene has been leaked online since earlier today and has been confirmed. So this is a thing now.

I doubt this is why it was made R. Considering some of the imagery in the graphic novel and even some of the themes it was always going to require either an R or an Unrated. However I wouldn't be surprised if they just threw the scene in to help fill out the rating. If anything this and an apparent scene which shows Bruce saying the moment meant nothing just spoils my anticipation and want to watch the movie, and I was originally planning on buying it day one. Now? I'll probably just get it from the library and skip the prologue where this stuff takes place and just watch the actual adaptation of the comic.

I was thinking of just searching for it streaming online or something. Horrible thing to do, I'll admit, but just the presence of those two scenes really soured my tastes.

I hope the rest of the movie is faithful to the comic, though.

So I guess this was what Bruce Timm meant when he said the team had to "add a lot more story" for the the film because the source novel wasn't long enough for a feature-length film.

This is really stupid and pointless.

I've seen people trying to defend it by saying that because Bruce and Barbara's relationship happened in the animated series/comics (mainly the batman beyond ones I believe), the film is accurate. No! The Killing Joke or an event strikingly similar to it hasn't been referenced in any of the Timmverse animated series or comics so it's not accurate (as far as I know).

Also, some say that Bruce needed extra motivation to stop the Joker. He's the Joker. That's all the motivation he needed. Even if they wanted to use Barbara as motivation, the incident itself would've been enough, not because of a supposed one-off relationship that isn't in the original source material.

I'll still watch it and hope the rest of the film is faithful to the source material but this is really pointless...

Urgh. I love Bruce Timm and the DCAU but I've always hated how much he tried to shove that pairing down audience's throats.

It's Netherrealm, not gonna happen. Their inability to do somewhat cute female faces is a well known fact by now. If they do get it it’s most likely an accident.

Nah, Supergirl looks just as terrible IMO. She looked fine in the cinematic but ingame it's the typical NRS caveman face nearly every woman has for some reason.

Yep, it was heavily implied in the DCAU since The New Batman Adventures. This is totally him.

What I mean is that they got the movie an R rating and then probably felt the need to throw a sex scene into the movie because that is what adults expect out of an R rated animated film.

I'm so tired of tacked on sex scenes just for the sake of doing it. Sex scenes are pointless and very rarely do they ever serve the plot. This is Batman, NOT James Bond.

Now I think I'm going to watch the movie before I buy it.

I'm just afraid that this isn't indicative of the movie as a whole. Regardless of how the trailer presents the scenes, this is still Snyder directing.

I really don't like how they're trying to pass it off. In the end, it really feels like Timm (Or someone) is just trying to make their headcanon into actual canon, now using the platform of a widely praised story to present it.

Oh well. What can ya do?

To be fair if you were in a creative position in a franchise you liked you'd probably try making your headcanon real in some capacity, i'm sure we all would.

Perhaps. But a long-awaited adaptation of an incredibly popular graphic novel that already has a mountain of female representation issues isn't the place to do it. Timm already had years of pushing it in his own continuity, isn't that enough?

Justice League - Well, it looks better than BvsS was, but I do not care for the guy they got to play Barry. He didn't even feel like Barry one bit in that trailer. They really should have gone with an older guy too because this dude is no Grant Gustin.

Captain America... I mean Wonder Woman - Looks all right, but it's just that, it looks like Captain America with a woman. Also, why are they fighting in the snow with barely any clothes on?

Overall, they weren't bad, better than I was expecting, but I'm not sure I want to give DC and WB anymore of my money after this year.
