This is the last time I'm gonna respond to this! It's off-topic and I clearly made a mistake in broaching the subject from the onset :o! If Tsuruhime and Kakure DaiShogun can FLY, so can Ninjaman! Someone must have killed the cloud :D! |

For what it’s worth I feel Dairanger is very likely to be the next series covered. It’s been a very popular request in surveys before and SMP in general trends towards the 90s. I could however also see them doing Hurricaneger to coincide with the 20th movie — or perhaps like Gokaiger just do a SHODO release.
Who knows though. If they’re suddenly going to be throwing a lot of previous series catchup at us (Mega Voyager, Victory Mars etc) they might want to do more older Showa seasons with just one mech to free up space like Denziman |
Kind of surprised they haven't done Zyuranger for the easy money :lol

My vote is for Hurricanger. That's a mecha that could really benefit from the posability of the SMP line. |

While I would like Hurricanger, I'm mostly afraid of how much real estate the karakuri balls would take up. |
Yeah, give how popular Dairanger seems to be, I'm surprised it hasn't been done already tbh. Or maybe it'l be another Showa series, who knows.
|
Maybe the reason Daireoh hasn’t been done yet is because they’re having trouble figuring out how to give it all the articulation they want. I know it’s probably never going to happen but I wouldn’t mind a set Lai Lai balls to go with the mecha
|
I don't think there's any special reason it hasn't happened, just that everything else took priority. I doubt there's anything they're deliberately putting off

Yeah, I'm surprised they haven't done Dairanger yet either. I'd really like them to just fill out the 90s by giving us Fiveman, Dairanger, Ohranger, Carranger, and Gingaman, with my main interests being Dairanger and Ohranger.
That being said, I wouldn't mind Hurricaneger. I haven't seen the series, but I do really like the design. Timeranger could be neat as well - I'd be so down for a V-Rex kit. |
Really cool that they're willing to revisit series. Hoping to get Mega Voyager (with Astro and Delta Mega reissues since I'm missing those) and Victory Mars one day.
SMP Ninja Man definitely seems like something they wouldn't have wanted to touch four years ago because it would have been a weird partsformer, which probably would have seemed underwhelming for a kit that didn't combine or have a full-on transformation more involved than Ninja Man's. Also feeling like another step toward one day during Dairanger. I feel like the sort of clip-on/"armor" gattai additions, even from more recent kits (i.e. Max Victory Robo) are the least solid-feeling, which makes DairenOh all the more difficult to pull off. |
Okay real talk...every SHODO Super team we've gotten except Gokaiger also has a Super Minipla release for the mechs. With the Dairanger SHODO set coming...does that mean Dairanger SMP are likely on the way?
|
I don't know why they'd even make SHODO Dairanger if it wasn't to accompany an upcoming SMP release. I'm basically taking it as a light confirmation

Seeing SMP Daidenzin and Denzi Tiger got me wishing King-Ohger brought the carriership back. We haven't had one of those since Maskman come to think of it.
|
We have had a few, they're just a lot less explicit about it and had more features to them -- often being a robot themselves. Most obvious is Abaranger's Brachio; but then others like Kyuranger's Orion and Dekaranger's Dekabase also absolutely count imo
|
2023 was a pretty killer year for Minipla. I built more and had more fun with minipla and candy toys than any other toy line this year.
This is a top ten candy toys (mostly minipla) from popular Japanese builder, @Tomoshoo1: https://nodokalife.com/shockgung-2022best10 The Gaoranger stuff was seriously impressive. |

I'm glad SMP Dryias made his top 10 list. I got that homeboy a few months back and absolutely loved it! The way they managed to replicate it's transformation was incredible.

Okay so the Dairanger Shodo (or whichever line it is) is basically an unofficial confirmation that we're getting SMP releases...any idea how long it might be before an announcement? How long is it usually between Shodo and SMP?
|
Honestly not sure. Maybe give it a month or two? It's pretty unprecedented actually that they announce the SHODOs before the SMP

Shodo - 2/2020 Minipla - 2/2020 GogoV Shodo - 09/2020 Minipla - 07/2020 Bioman Shodo - 08/2021 Minipla - 02/2021 Liveman Shodo - 2022 Minipla - 2018 Gaoranger I can't find release dates, but I did find preorder dates Shodo - 07/2021 Minipla - 03/2021 So yeah, you seem to be right - it's pretty unprecedented. There's also no discernable pattern. I hope this isn't following Gokaiger, where it got a shodo release but no super minipla. |
The thing is Gokaiger was a special thing to coincide with the 10th anniversary movie, and Dairanger has nothing like that
|
Gokaiger getting a shodo figures, but I am personally quite sad we currently didn't get Super Minipla GokaiOh...
Maybe Super Minipla GokaiOh in 2 or 3 years later? |
Eventually quite possibly. They've just been firmly focusing on older fans and series thus far. 2001 is the newest series SMP's touched so far and they've been going vaguely chronologically with kits (at least as they move forward). And besides spreading out with releasing pre-Zyuranger kits regularly, they're now circling back to revisit series (i.e. Ninjaman) and, if we do get Dairanger kits, possibly hitting on other 90s series that they skipped. I feel like it will be a long time before they get to Gokaiger.
I finally started building the second set of DonBros kits. I'm getting the feeling that they skipped a P-Bandai DonOnitaijin kit... because the normal release was the premium version. Working on Toradoragonjin, I'm reminded of just how good the colors of the plastic used for the DonBros minipla are compared to the last few years' kits, and that's 95% of the justification of the P-Bandai release. If anything, I'm surprised they didn't do a Black Onitaijin Murasame kit insead. |
When do we expect King-ohger minipla to be revealed/released?
|
If anyone's still after one, HLJ is about to get some Minipla Don Onitaijins in stock

AGH that's tempting but I'd rather be able to bundle that with other aftermarket items I missed out on. HLJ shipping is still 25-30 right?

edit: Nevermind, Shipping is $8 :lol |
I would love if TFSource regularly carried minipla. I think they only got Live Robo because it was a distribution bundle with Zyuranger stuff.

https://i.ibb.co/10BnCfZ/325684444-1...40757205-n.jpg I love this big ol' chonker. There's a couple things in the vehicle modes that aren't great, but in mech mode it's great. It makes my other kits look small in comparison. No combination pics because I left Liverobo at my mom's house when I moved. I'll make sure to snag it next time I go back. On that note, I wonder if it will be compatible with the SMP Alt Destiny Liverobo? I doubt it, but you never know... |
Minipla Avataro Gattai Series PB Black Onitaijin Murasame announced! Comes out in June for 4,400 yen on Premium Bandai.

Images of the King-Ohger have been revealed and it looks great!
https://bandaicandy.hateblo.jp/entry/20230228_sentai I'm really excited to see the auxiliary mechs. The snail and pill bug revealed so far would be perfect for the line. |
