Also Eaglemoss? You diving into the figure collection then? |
Quote:
And as for the figure collection; tried to buy Star Trek ones over sale weekend, got charged (twice), didn't get order through. Will try again once Eight goes up though, to go with the War Doctor I got a while ago |
The Husbands of River Song can be added to my “favourite Christmas specials” list.
I wouldn’t mind seeing more of Kingston; her chemistry with Capaldi was a joy♡ The Doctor’s scene with River on Planet Darillium was lovelii. :) |
Yeah this year's special was fantastic. Injected a level of silliness and fun the series has been lacking for a long time now.
Also the best River episode by far. Filled in the blanks and made her a much better character in my eyes. |
I thought that it was a fun episode but it felt a little hollow to me, even with all the callbacks to past River episodes and the emotional ending. I much preferred last year's Christmas special.
|
Man I love this year special Kingston and capaldi bounced off each other worked it was some thing show was lacking I. Like the fact special done some thing special river meets a face of the Doctor she didi not know before she goes to time where the doctor does. To even know here and I love the fact she was given the screwdriver by the doctor she end using at the end.
|
I was enjoying this episode. But then stuff. Her saying how she was almost at the end of the Diary, revealing what planet they were crashing on, and then he gave her the screwdriver and I lost it. It was a scene I always wanted them to show but also hoped they never would.
|
Husbands of River Song was alright. Not my favourite christmas special, but it was fun and enjoyable. Even if I was facepalming at River's obliviousness for the first half of the story :lol
Just one bit that strikes me as odd. River wipes a guy's mind: funny, perfectly okay. Doctor tries to wipe Clara's mind: Big emotional thing, not to be done, "My past is mine". It's not big, but it bugs me... Oh, and the ending. Wrapped up all the loose ends, and practically guarantees River will never show up again, and is heartwarming to everyone with a heart (and who's seen a 7 year old episode). Except she will, because she's Moffat's solution to writer's block. :D |
dunno where this fit dunno if it be spoiler if i posted it here. so completed and played level pack of docotor who fo lego dimensions and i have to say it was a fun darlek story and its a darlek story tha feature daveros but he did not take full show. it fun level pack and the after completing it if you kill yourself you unlock a regenration fo the doctor and to save it you pop in to the tardis and then rinse and repeat

So introducing my niece to doctor who due to my sister is picky on what to watch as in she can only watch U or pg so I put on the only U doctor who story I have and that was the five doctor story she Intrested in it.
|
That's not a bad starting point classic-wise to be honest, especially if your niece is like me and could get behind the multi-actor thing very quickly. The Five Doctors was certainly one of the earliest stories I can remember watching actually.

WTF? That is sudden? Why? And why they hell is there not going to be a season this year now? That is so stupid. I hope the new guy can bring stories that are at least half as good as Moffat's.
|
I wouldn't have said it's sudden. The guy will have been doing it for 7 years when his time is up and recently just finished with one of his "major" creations. I'd say that's a pretty good time to announce he's stepping down.
It's not like people really have any build up to announcements they're leaving, it just happens. |
Thanks to ZeoRangerV I now know who this guy is.. and I am excited. He did every single one of the best episodes from Torchwood and it means Moffat is finally leaving.
|
The BEST news. Literally the best. Moffat has fucked around with half realized storylines and whimsical bullshit for long enough. The handful of good episodes he's presided over pale in comparison to the years of bad.
|
I completely disagree. Moffat is the best thing to ever happen to this show. All of the masterpiece episodes sans the Dalek/Cybermen crossover one were all Moffat's. That includes The Girl in the Fire Place, Blink, Silence in the Library, Forest of the Dead, Let's Kill Hitler, Listen, and Heaven Sent. THe only bad season Moffat gave us was the seventh, but even that had a few great episodes in it.
I hope this new guy can actually give us ingenious episodes that deal with time manipulation like Moffat did. |
Hell no, season six is trash. Easily the worst the series has been since it came back.
It's undeniable that he's written some fantastic episodes. But he's also written some godawful ones as well, and to a lot of people his overbearing writing style has grown stale all too quickly. For a show that thrives on change a new show runner is welcome. Also Let's Kill Hitler a "masterpiece"?! Each to their own I guess.. |

Good News: Moffat is leaving! We might get good storylines from Chibnall! We finally get something different!
Bad News: We have to wait until next year for new episodes... And they're still made by Moffat. |
Big Finish: The Diary of River Song series 2!
Release Date: 01/2017 Synopsis: Quote:
Source: Big Finish ---------------------------------- Radio Times has a trailer for upcoming 10/Donna Big Finish series. I got a bit of a chill hearing the two of them together again, although Catherine Tate sounds a bit different. I hope if the series continues they get Bernard Cribbins back. I still hope that when Big Finish starts producing Eleven adventures, Wilf shows up. Matt was so good at playing an old man in a young man's body that I would love to see him alongside the Crib. |

I'll watch to see how it goes, but I'm cautious, and not expecting anything great.
|
I'll still watch it but I would much rather prefer Torchwood Series 5.
|
and now that I think about it I also really want William Russell to come back as Ian in Class. I really want to see him again.
|
It looks like there's a little more than an hour-and-a-half before we get the new companion announcement.

Well, I guess that's it until the Christmas special for this year :p
|
So, Pearl Mackie is the new companion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaLficIRInM Edit: Unrelated, but the latest Doctor Who survey sent out by BBC Worldwide asks a few interesting questions. http://shuangxi-in-spring.com/Images/bbcww.png |
Ehh. I'm sure the actor will be great, but that video showed me this will be everything I didn't want in a companion. Which looks to be pretty much the same thing we've got the last five times (most likely without the romance stuff this time, but its still the same old song and dance).
I'm not going to be excited until it isn't Moffat writing these two. |
Yeah, I can't get excited about anything related to the show right now (Big Finish is another story) knowing we've got another series of Moffat to sit through. I'm also a little iffy on her acting. I know it's just a two minute clip, but I wasn't much impressed. Granted, I'm not going to finalize any judgements until we get full episodes to judge her by. I hope Capaldi sticks around for at least a season of Chibnall, though. I'm sad we never got to see Matt outside of Moffat's influence. Maybe one day he'll get to do some Big Finish. (And then I will finally get my Wilf and Eleven story! Hey, I can hope. :D )
