Those stickers look absolutely awful. The amount of peeling that's gonna occur on the mantis's face in 3 months is going to be painful.

Don Onitaijin is getting a nice deluxe set with plated parts and it looks really great.

I’m impatient with these miniplas and just preordered Kingohger, if a better version comes out at the end of the series that’s my fault lolz

Though with the gold plated wings look really nice but really I can just spray paint the wings and call it a day.

While I'm looking forward to this year's minipla and SMP line between the King-Ohger designs and then Dairanger stuff coming, I'm a bit peeved that we got minipla for basically all the Alter except for DonMurasame Alter... the only one I wanted. Would share a lot of parts with DonMomotaro Alter too I think yeah? I guess even if DonBros didn't have a lot of mecha, the Alter releases made the line a bit more crowded than usual.

Nah it's way bigger last time I checked. Ryuseioh was about as tall as its foot in the show. Think Silver Surfer and Galactus or Galvatron and Unicron.

Okay, there's a couple things that bummed me out. First, the individual robots are not as fun to build since Yellow+Black and Blue+White are essentially the same. I like when there's variety in the designs. I will say the sculpting for the stone wall panels is excellent

My biggest gripe was transforming Red. Turning the legs upside was incredibly frustrating and restrictive. As you can see, I snapped off a front panel trying to do so. On the other leg I opted to do a partial disassembly to get the peg to rotate. On the flip side, the transformation for the limbs is so easy it's almost trivial, but I'm not a fan of having to remove the heads on Yellow and Black to connect the feet. In general I'm not a fan of removing pieces to transform mechs.

BUT I don't completely dislike this kit. The castle aesthetic is an all-time great design and the chrome pieces are a good addition. With enough time I'll probably get over the final issues I ran into

I had the same thing happen to me when I was transforming red that I'm still bitter about it. I guess I'll eventually buy another Muteki Shogun since I'm more experienced now with properly building these kits while looking out for design flaws such as that one

That's a really cool kit but it's a shame to hear that the build is so repetitive and that the legs require partsforming. Still, it looks nice.

That brings me to another subject though...I've been building gunpla a lot more than minipla lately, and I'm noticing that the plastic seems to be of a higher quality. Minipla looks a lot more plasticky, while gunpla usually looks good straight out of the box and without even a top coat.

Now, I've seen some really good painted kits, but I'm not sure I've ever seen just a topcoated minipla kit. Have any of you builders out there ever just topcoated? Got any pics? (panel lining + topcoat is acceptable as well. just not fully painted)

I take it that Muteki Shogun is worth it if you prefer the combined form over the individual 5.

I built Muteki Shogun a long time ago. The separate robots are indeed a bit of a letdown, but that combined form is quite cool. The castle pattern is definitely a highlight. I wish the shoulder emblems were plated like the chest crest. I painted my gold parts a dull gold, and if I were to do it over, I would use a shiner gold. It's definitely an early model engineering.

I did end up using the Molotow Chrome pen marker on the individual robot arms to match the old DX toy.

By the way, if you're looking to fix that broken part, I would first extract it, sand it down a little bit so it's not so tight, and then drill tiny holes on both parts and fit clipped paperclips into the part.

Appreciate the advice I might give it a try but don't feel too confident in fear of damaging it worse lol. What you mentioned about using the chrome pen makes me want to buy another Muteki Shogun even more to try some different custom ideas

I definitely like Muteki Shogun both the SMP and the zord itself and never owned the original deluxe toy so when the SMP was announced it was an instant buy for me back then.

What are you guy's thoughts on the Kakure Daishogun kit? I'm getting the itch to build more of these and I love the 90s mechas

I like the Kakure Daishogun kit. I bought it for Tsubasamaru to use with Muteki Shogun. It's very clean looking kit with little excess parts. It's such a slim kit the articulation that was added goes a lot further than other minipla.

The red robot transforms just as bad as the Muteki Shoguns. The circle stickers on the hands are terrible and difficult to replace with paint. A chrome marker on parts of the bear make it excellent. It's been a while but I remember the falcon being a cool build.

I got it from the Barnes and Nobles double set. So it was one large flat box with a bunch of bags inside. The instructions had the MMPR imprint on them.

Just pre-ordered my SMP Dairen'oh last night! Stoked that it's finally happening.

Not sure if I want Daimugen or not, but I'll definitely pick up Won Tiger if (when) it's announced. Ryuuseioh...it'll be cool if they release it but I'm not holding out hope.

Ugh, I wish the Megaranger releases were separate (not that I expected them to be, I just wish they were). I only want Galaxy Mega. Plus, Delta Mega isn't that hard to find.

Looking at the related candy blog article, the end hints at a follow up to Jet Icarus and Jet Garuda, which I can only image would be Tetraboy.

I might have liked the overall look of combined Muteki Shogun, but Kakure Daishogun is everything I want in an SMP. Fun and varied build, easy to transform, and tons of articulation points. There's some very clever engineering that lets you tuck away parts to have even greater mobility on the legs and left arm. Even the individual animals move and look great.

Very small nitpick is you have to remove red ape's hands for the transformation, but other than that I'm extremely happy with this one. It might just be my new favorite. Definitely recommend it if you can find it at a good price

Kakure Daishogun is one of those designs that just looks like it should be flexible so the added minipla articulation goes a really long way in giving this mech personality. One of my favorites too!
