Am I the only who gets a feeling that we're only going to get N64 stages as DLC? Because they're easy to work on, they work on 3DS, and Nintendo has made all of the DLC cross buy so far, so 3DS owners don't get left out.

I don't think Shovel Knight is officially in the game yet. I see a lot of people on Gamefaqs getting butt hurt over the idea of him being DLC. I like Shovel Knight a lot, so I will be cool with him in Smash.

The idea of only getting N64 stages is kind of why I haven't bothered with them anymore :lol

And I'm still rather indifferent to Shovel Knight.

Shovel Knight as a fighter would be cool. But I really think the issue for people is whether he's "Smash Worthy" as a 3rd party character. Considering you have 4 of the biggest videogame characters as third party entries, people expect a lot from that category. Plus, he's kind of being held up by the community as the indie sacred lamb for Nintendo.

I'm kind of hoping that they make exclusive DLC stages for 3DS and WiiU.

Why?

Because i like how the stage selections for both versions are incredibly different, making them share the same DLC stages kind of takes away from that.

But it's actually a good reason to share DLC.
It prevents either console from getting too much attention. It means they can't just pile on DLC for the Wii U version while shrugging their shoulders to the millions who bought it on 3DS (Which has over twice as many total sales than the Wii U's copy).

It's not taking away anything, ultimately. There are 4 DLC stages, and all but one (Suzaku Castle) are just N64 stages. The variety of stages is still there. But boo fucking hoo. Wii U doesn't get Peach's Castle all to itself.

At the very least, could Wii U owners get DLC for all the 3DS stages? It's kind of annoying to play cool stages like Green Hill Zone, Mushroomy Kingdom, Brinstar, FUCKING CORNERIA, Arena Ferox and the like not a tiny screen. I'd happily pay $20-30 bucks for all the 3DS stages in gorgeous HD.

I was talking about if they were decided to make further stages after the 64 ones, i am perfectly okay with them just having the 64 stages being shared by both versions.

So people think that DLC is coming soon since the online servers are gonna get taken down on Monday. Any thoughts?

If it ain't Wolf, Ammy, or Ridley, then I'm not exactly hype, since stages tend to be lame ones from 64.

I would agree, but I'm a sucker for Smash DLC.

People are also speculating it could be Snake coming back, since MGSV comes out the next day. Making a nice little promotion for the game.

But it's not on any Nintendo consoles, so it wouldn't exactly smart promotion, and Konami is kind of going insane.
Granted, I would be all for Snake to come back.

Also, I think they should make a revamped version of Saffron City, since it was released when only Gen 1 mons existed. There are so many possibilities for an updated Saffron City.

But Matrix, you know they're not gonna update Saffron city right? Those DLC N64 stages don't look that much better/different to their original counterparts. If they're gonna bring back Saffron City with gen 1 pokemon only though, they should at least bring back Spear Pillar from Brawl.

I'd love for Snake to make a comeback. And perhaps Nintendo would be the ones to manage to talk some sanity back into Konami for just long enough to convince them :lol

No, not as in take Saffron and add more Pokemon to it. But take Saffron's basic concept (The door where Random Pokemon come out and attack) and make a new stage out of that with more options.

There has been a lot, yeah.
But nowhere near enough! More Pokemon, I say! More! More Pokemon items (Like Rare Candy or the X items for bonus to your stats for a brief period, or something I dunno), more Pokemon stages (MORE!), and, most definitely, more playable Pokemon! (We need to beat Mario in terms of playable characters, dammit ><)

Zoroark in Pokken Fighters would be pretty neat.

You know what i want as a Pokemon stage? Something from Hoenn, like the Sky pillar or the place where you fought Primal Kyogre and Groudon.
Smash bros seems to really overlook that generation...

64 came out during Gen 1, Melee came out right before Gen 3, and Brawl came out after Gen 4.

Didn't they pick out everything by early 2012? Greninja was just a concept back then, and since ORAS came out a year later, by the time they could have proposed anything ORAS to add in, Smash development would have been heavily underway by then.

I'm pretty sure that was only for the character selection. I'm not sure if it was for the stages too.

According to many rumors, they picked the roster before X and Y were released, notably that Greninja was selected before he became popular. So I don't think they really had time to incorporate much from ORAS.
Also, I think since Smash came out so closely to Gen 6, that they'd want to put more XY stuff than ORAS, even if they did have time to make changes.

Any idea on how long they're planning on keeping the servers down for? It's going to put a huge damper on our online matches if we can't play online due to maintenance.

It's gonna be 5-6pm PST on 3DS and 6-7pm PST on Wii U. So not too bad since it's only 1 hour, but at our usual playtime.

That would've been neat, but boss modes are only an entertaining novelty for about 2 or 3 rounds, to be honest.

I wouldn't have fallen for it. I don't think they'd add a game mode as DLC for Smash.

It would be kinda neat if you could play as Master hand vs. Metal Face, though.

For me, if there was no Taboo in this mode, then no-go.

...I'd like to see Taboo be a playable character someday. Granted, they would have to readjust him to balance with everyone, but I'd think it would be cool to have 1 original Smash Bros character on the roster that was in the franchise's history.

Tabuu would be odd, though. He's always larger than the stage itself, and his powers made good use of it.

They could resize him and give his moves and adjustment to his new size.

If they were willing to do that, Ridley would have been playable long ago. :lol
