I don't really care for PR at all, but I won't bash anyone who likes it. There's only like two or three PR shows that I've watch that I consider to be decent/watchable.

Bashing someone over the head for something they enjoy is a waste of time in my opinion. You're not getting that time back, and it's not profitable to you or the other guy.

I mean I have accepted that general audience will always view Power Rangers as a joke. I just hope that with Ultraman and hopefully Kamen Rider (or even Super Sentai) makes it to the west they'll be welcomed, but chances are people will associate it with Power Rangers and Power Rangers = embarassing.

It's probably cuz those two franchises "take themselves seriously". Transformers had the edgy movies that pushed them to the mainstream and TMNT was because it had multiple cartoons and an already large following.

Power Rangers (and/or toku in general) is still niche and is viewed by many as, yes, the "30 minute toy commercial". What with the colorful weapons, rubber suits, and giant colorful robots. A shame, really.

I've got no gripes with PR. Other than how the actors speak the dialogue and how it kinda comes off as unnatural.

Much of the general public also doesn't realize that alot of campy stuff PR does is entirely on purpose. Which you know, is also a double standard since TMNT and Transformes are equally as guilty of it.

That said, I think it might just be a thing with US culture in general? The only REAL Transformers G1(or the Bay movies), the only REAL TMNT is the 80s cartoon, the only REAL Power Rangers is MMPR, etc.

Yeah that is troublesome. Like Transformers had Beast Wars and Prime, TMNT had 2003 and 2012 series, which some even said 2012 series was the best of the bunch. It's probably a problem with America, since we got Geewun, Star Wars fans who thinks only OT exists and the likes.

It's the eternal curse of a long-running pop culture franchise - while the fans might care about their own little corners (say, Ninja Storm, or Transformers Armada or whatever), the general perception is entirely governed by the public, who will forever know it as whatever got it popular in the first place. And, in many cases, that just happens to be the first thing the brand did, when it was new and exciting and inescapable. The careful balancing act that many brands seem to be in these days is building off of their more popular aspects whilst simultaneoulsy trying to move onwards and do something new. How successful it's done depends entirely on your own personal opinions, of course.

It's very interesting to compare to Toku, where Super Sentai hardly coasts by on Goranger and actually tends to make a lot more bank off of and a lot more spin-off post-series material for Gokaiger, Dekaranger, Shinkenger etc. -- and then you've got Kamen Rider where post-series Showa stuff is practically non-existent in lieu of Heisei, and even then the first Heisei Rider takes a back seat to the likes of OOO, Den-O, Faiz, W... about the only current Toku that really relies on its roots is Ultraman and honestly I'd still say there's a lot more focus on Zero and recently Orb and Geed there.

It's just such a fascinating comparison looking between Toku and the likes of Transformers, Power Rangers etc which exclusively looks back at its first couple years every chance they get.

I assume the one on the left is the "Arachnid Rider" suit, but the one on the right could seriously be an unused Zero-One suit. Both look great, probably going to lose a month replaying that game.

Started Christmas shopping early because I have a job this time, so I'm less limited. KR Vulcan stuff has been weirdly elusive on the few sites I've been searching.

Also I've been told I can write a short story for my semester finals, so that's gonna be fun.

Curious what you're looking for and what sites you're using? Stuff like the Rampage Gatling key? Because that in particular I've had a rough time finding under 4000 Yen.

I haven't really been searching import sites because I don't know all the ins and outs of them just yet, but mainly looking for figures of gun-boi on Amazon, Ebay, Tokullectibles, BBTS and the Bluefin site itself.

This is the best lot I could find for the rampage gatling progrise key, I have no idea if it'll stay that cheap, and or if it's even reasonably priced.

Edit: Also it's missing the belt straps and stop.

Aah, figures. If it's just SHF, only Shooting Wolf is out right now; though Assault will be this month. If you know what you're doing Shooting Wolf is by far the easiest and cheapest SHF to find; he consistently hovers around 3500-4000 yen on secondhand sites (and 4000 is the completely untouched undamaged packaging price).

SO-DO is still extremely cheap too, as are any RKFs. Aside from Sofubis that should be it as far as figures go; and I should note that no line has done Orthoros yet, but I imagine SO-DO is right around the corner for that.

That's actually phenomenally good; the Rampage key itself is usually more than half that, and of course the Shotriser is over half that too. Throw in the Assault key (not too hard to find, but really don't mind seeing it basically for free) and that's a hell of a good bundle. Of course, I imagine it won't be staying that cheap for long; and that many boxes should make shipping a pretty penny.

edit: Hang on it also comes with a holder?! Quite a few decent free gifts here!

You'd actually be surprised. Barring import sites, like I said, I haven't been able to find any Vulcan RKF for under 30 bucks USD. So-Do I haven't been able to find a whole lot of either.

Wooow that super sucks. A quick search turns up any Vulcan RKF or SODO under 1000 Yen very easily (well, it's a little hard to find an in-stock Rampage). Is it those you're looking for? Because if you're uncomfortable with navigating imports I'm sure someone'd be up for a group import in your country.
