JL Dark looks incredible. I can't wait for this. Plus it's cool to see Batman providing them a little aid too.
|
Frankly, Batman has no business being in the JL Dark movie. Can't we get a movie WITHOUT Batman for a change?

Batman the Nick Fury of DC.

I love Batman as much as the next guy, hell, he is my favorite super hero, but they really need to lay off on Batman. Hopefully the success of the Flash show will get them more comfortable in at least giving us some stand alone Flash products that don't include Batman. |
To be fair, it's not like the Bruce Wayne Batman's been in these movies a whole lot.
Hell, the last two Damian Wayne movies he's been taken out of commission fairly quickly for most of the film. |

Because the only character to consistently get films is Batman, otherwise it's been Justice League, aside from a scant few (I think 2) Superman films in the past 6 years, and even then, Batman is basically the star of the JL films aside from Throne of Atlantis (Which shockingly features little of him. My jaw dropped) and Justice League Vs. Teen Titans. It's just...Of course his films will do well considering no one else is getting any to provide a comparison... |

Ofcourse Hulk bombing didn't stop Marvel from making Ant-Man so maybe they just gave up too easily. |

My issue is just that they too heavily rely on Batman to carry things. He even gets the final blow in Flashpoint Paradox... If his role in JL Dark is minimal, than I will be ecstatic~ Quote:

The Supergirl Superman looks like he is scowling after being told he can't have any dessert for misbehaving at school.
Batman The Killing Joke - Man, oh man, where do I begin? First off, what the hell Bruce Timm?! This movie should have been the best animated Batman movie since Mask of the Phantasm, and instead, it ends up being an unremarkable, run of the mill mess. The first half is not only an insult to the fans of the franchise, but also to the masterpiece Alan Moore gave us. The characters in the first 30 minutes are pointless and add nothing to the overall plot, but it is how degrading it gets as far as the relationship between Bruce and Barbara goes. It was unnecessary and highlights everything wrong with DC's perception of what people want out of these movies. They have been riding on a thin line of ice ever since Justice League War, and now they broke it. What should have been a celebration has turned into a tragedy. Hell, Barbara's friend at the library serves absolutely no purpose to the story at all and is only there to exposit details we did not need, nor care about. In fact, that is the biggest problem about the first thirty minutes of the movie, we have no reason to care about anything that occurs. That is not what we are watching the movie for, so why put it there? If you don't know who Batgirl is by now, this movie isn't for you. So that brings me to the actual story, and it is fine, but the excitement has been diminished by this point, so it goes by without the impact it should have had. Mark Hammil does a fantastic job and it was nice to see him get to do a true representation of Joker, something he hasn't been able to do outside of Mask of the Phantasm and the Arkham games. Kevin Conroy is perfectly fine, but this isn't anywhere near his best work. He sounds like he is just going through the motions of Batman as if he is kind of burnt out on the character or something. The animation was on par with the other movies. The ears on Batman looked a bit off, but there was nothing inherently wrong with it. Sadly though, the music is pretty forgettable, which is a shame because not only did Batman The Animated Series have one of the greatest soundtracks in the history of animation, but even a lot of the other Batman animated movies, such as The Dark Knight Returns, have had tracks that would stick in your head for days. For this movie, I watched it two hours ago and I can't remember a damn thing about the music. Overall, it saddens me that I am unable to talk about how amazing this movie because I was expecting to gush over it with immense fangasms. The reality is that it is just another DC animated movie that completely missed its mark, which is annoying when these are direct to video movies, there is no reason why something should not be as long or as short as it needs to be. Instead of cramming too much into a 75 minute run time for one movie and then having to needlessly stretch out another to meet that 75 minutes, do what is best for that movie. If one movie only needs to be 50 minutes in length, make it 50 minutes in length and save the budget for the unused 25 minutes for a different movie that could benefit from it. I would say rent this before you spend the money on it to see if it is worth it to you. I personally wouldn't pay more than $10 for the BD. My score for it is a 7/10. |
To be honest I don't get the outrage over Babs' portrayal in the Killing Joke movie when the editorial for the original book was gleefully shouting "CRIPPLE THE BITCH!!!".
Making her and Bruce have sexy time while annoying as Timm seems insistent on pushing his personal fanon on to every project he's a part of is pretty tame compared to that. Quote:
Unfortunatly this also makes their movies less interesting then Marvel's because Marvel is taking risks on their lesser known characters. |
I'm hearing a lot of rumors that Justice League will have a secret seventh member that isn't being revealed. If that's true, I personally think it has to be Green Lantern or Shazam since they're getting their own movies.

The plot with the gangsters has no barring on the movie either. They're just there because. If anything, they could have made it that the goons helped get Joker out of Arkham. |
Quote:
Green Lantern would be my personal pick for this movie. Shazam I think would be more appropriate by having his solo film first and then integrating him to the team like Antman in JL2. |

I hope those rumors turn out to be false. For a movie like this, less is more. Since, while not their debut proper, fewer characters means more time can be devoted to Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman, since their movies are still far out on the horizon right now.

Is this another of their interactive movies or an actual game?

Is Superman in this game?
*Me every time a new Batman game is made.* |

Scratch that, just give me a Superman game. |
So I just got done watching Killing Joke.
Speaking as someone whose never actually read the graphic novel I ended up enjoying the movie a lot more than most people. It does feel poorly paced in a few areas though, and I think the Batgirl portion in the beginning really wasn't needed. They really should've just left this movie about the relationship between Joker and Batman...then it would've felt like a tighter film overall. It's not my favrioute DC Animated movie, though it does make me actually wanna check out the graphic novel now. |
Jeremy Jahn reviews are really on point, and great. So to see him say that Suicide Squad movie is actually a good DC movie and worthy of watching, I gotta say I'm excited to go see it now.

It seems reviews on that movie are pretty split, though.
|
Suicide Squad is currently ranked 34% on "Rotten Tomatoes."
As you can imagine, the fandom has reacted in typical fashion. I see the fandom's having their usual reaction.... Quote:

Hell, I've seen negative Civil War reviews not because they found the movie was bad, but because it was "Just another Marvel movie," proceeding to call it a good movie, but not Phase 1/Guardians level good. |

I'm not much of a comic gal and I VASTLY prefer Marvel, but for fucks sake, this is the third, THIRD DCEU movie that's gotten panned. Considered Snyder's doing Wonder Woman, I just feel bad. I want you guys to know the kind of thrills Marvel fans had with Civil War. I heard that Flash's director will most likely be different due to the new director, a comic guy who loves Flash, will be involved. DC needs to stop trying to one-up Marvel and do their own thing or take Marvel's steps. God. Anyone feel confident about ANY DCEU movies? I hear Ben Affleck's a good director, and his love of the Caped Crusader means I'll likely watch his Batman, and I fucking loved Flash on Arrowverse, so I'll likely watch that
|
I'm excited for the Afflecks solo movie since it's going to feature one of my all time favorite DC character which is the Red Hood.
|
Wait Suicide squad vot negative reviews?
..Sh*t i was gonna watch that one later this week. |

At this rate I just want DC to focus a LOT on Flash as as far as I can tell, that's the only DCEU movie we're getting that isn't DARK&EDGY. Supes was never fucking edgy when paired up with Batman |
