What we're missing is Touma grabbing the giant stone sword in Wonder World and use it as a pen. |
At this point I've decided not to look too deep into why they choose certain random themes for forms. Why is Cross Saber full of stars? Why is Elemental Dragon's appearance mainly fire-based despite being able to use the other elements? Why is the water-based Ridebook a lion instead of a fish? Why did the Northern Base's Omniscient Book fragment become a book based on ice? Did it only contain information on ice? Why is the sound-based Rider based on candy out of all things?
I've decided to just accept it at face value and just move on. It's a toy commercial; whatever it takes to sell toys. I do appreciate the designs though. |
Okay, so I love the color scheme for Cross Saber. I'm reminded of Meteor... I love Brave Dragon... New weapon...
But when we've had all of these other new forms... I'm a little disappointed.... Yet, why do I still love it? I've also just noticed that the star palette might actually be referencing the bubble motif the Wonder World has been using since the beginning, unless I'm reading too much into this. Still would have preferred a different form though. |
I'm curious if there's any stopping Touma from using more books and different form books in with this new Seiken?
Cause like... imagine Dragonic Knight with this starry palette? |
Wait I just realised that a new sword most likely means new sounds that will be unlocked in the DX when you buy more of Saber's toys.

Emotional Dragon in that color palette would be awesome! |

Last one to the punch again, so here are my late thoughts:
Pretty much neutral on Cross Dragon. As always, I do enjoy it when a rider's color scheme does a 180 and uses the opposite color for their final form. I would've preferred some color other than gold/yellow for his right fingers because it looks more like his stuck his hand into something gross, but I'll get over it. The sword looks neat though, as Reiei mentioned I'm curious about what adjusting height of the guard does. |

ok the suit itself looks nice but as a final form holy crap it looks bad
|
Wait, what? This is the actual final form? I thought it was a Televi-kun suit and people were joking.
|
I like how Reiwas has taken a step back and down on the final forms. Heisei was getting a bit gaudy.
|
I mean if you want to be technical, Rekka's Final Form is pretty gaudy when comparing it to it's standard form. lol
|
But compared to like Genius and Muteki, it's downright plain.
|
Oh no I'm not talking about Saber, I'm talking about Rekka, the sword.
It's funny how when you think about it we're getting a final form for a weapon instead of the actual Rider really. |
In retrospect this was kind of obvious considering the suit of our (supposed) main villain is like 85% recycled parts. :lol

What a rip. GUURRHHHH!! SABER BETRAYED US! Auughhh! I've started - I should have never started this stupid fanclub in the first place! I'M GONNA GET RID OF ALL THIS SABER STUFF All of it! All of it! *removes the Saber undies* ...All of it...! I'm gonna run away! That's what I'll do, run away...! aughahaghaa! ... Mmicb0b, come back! There's more! and his debut is directed by Shibasaki! REALLY?! time reversal |
Ehh, I like it. That said, I guess during this Reiwa era it seems that whoever is now leading the rider franchise in general is taking the Frieza approach to ultimate forms. While Zero-Two was a totally new rider and this is just a repaint, the common element that I see here is ultimate forms are re-shaping the rider while taking it back to its core rather than adding more like I previously stated a long time ago when Zero-Two was revealed. It's as if said person who leads the rider franchise saw a bunch of Marie Kondo videos and applied her principles of trim away any useless clutter. :lolol

I'm not a terribly big fan of this new trope of making the final form a new rider or very least treating it like one. |
Shame the openings of Saber still remain the same. Maybe not even proper. If I were to update them after the first two (+Kento was later).

Well, y'all got your final form weapon!
Seeing this suit in action and knowing the story around it are probably going to make or break it for me. But if nothing else, it's giving me a new appreciation for how good the base Brave Dragon design is. I do like that it's doing a new thing, instead of just trying to be like Saber's previous forms but even more fiery/knighty/dragony, because there's only so much you can keep escalating in the same direction before it starts to lose impact. |

Wait, with Cross Saber being covered in stars, doesn't that literally make him a knight in shining amor?

Some stuff about the Cross Saber toy and its sounds. Seems like it can form change.
|
Oh hello... more Alangina Saber? And potentially Lion Alangina?
|
Dragon Lion Alangina? I've been waiting for this ever since the show started!
|
Well that final form is... different?
Dunno, I really like my big bulky final forms, so just not for me. Feels almost like a cost-saving measure |
How'd the sounds get leaked if the toy hasn't even been released?

Another thing I like about Cross Saber is how there's almost a progression of his forms getting bluer and bluer as he grows in power (similar to how hotter flames burn blue!)
Like, going from Brave to Crimson there's mostly just more red, but then Dragonic Knight moves the red to an accent color and is mainly silver, which isn't blue but it is a much "cooler" hue than red. Primitive continues this by confining the red to a few specific parts and instead being mainly a pale blue-white, which makes a nice bridge between Dragonic Knight's silver and Cross Saber's bright blue. Elemental disrupts the pattern a bit by bringing back the red, but it keeps some of Primitive's blue-white color and leans into the "blue flames" aesthetic, even keeping his eyes white with instead of returning them to their original red-orange color. And finally, Cross Saber goes to a full bright blue with white sparkles, and red only showing up on the sword's emblem and the tips of his eye flames. It's kind of neat when you look back on it. |
Honestly I've always liked that. The hotter the fire, the more blue Saber would get. It makes sense to me.

Kamen Rider Avex just tweeted about an insert song, so we're likely getting a song for Cross Saber's debut.

The second chapter of the Buster manga has been translated by Flame Subs.
https://flamesubs.home.blog/2021/05/...ter-chapter-2/ |
Subs are out for the SOL saga and one thing I find funny is that Ogami mentions that he doesn't have a son yet, and claims he'd be a terrible father. In the manga, we get to see Sora's first days into the world and Ogami looks WAYYY young than he does in the SOL special

looks like it could use 1 more upgrade with this at its base. xD looks like as if the Kiramagers made that suit and sword for him....so sparkly also judging from the full-line up of knights in the top-right (except Falchion ofc), I see both Espada and Calibur... |
