While I don't agree with what Dwayne tried to do with magic AF was overall a good show. Season 3 was hurt badly with resetting Ben to his OS maturity levels and part of why the Ben 10 series is doing so badly is because too much of the first series' flaws keep bleeding in, making it look like continuity is overall meaningless along with the dueling retcons. Omniverse isn't the best Ben 10 show but it's enjoyable so long as you accept it's a HUGE love letter to the first show. If we (meaning just me at this point over at Tokunation) luck out and get a 10th anniverritsy show I'd like to see a better balance between the lighter parts and the darker subject matter. Keep it around Omniverse's level of lightness, but perhaps a few more dark scenes plus Ben needs to be more mature. Also the aliens could go for some rebalancing (Atomix can keep his title of the 2nd strongest but he needs a valid weakness in order to avoid his Gary Stu rap) There's not a whole hell of a lot of superhero shows out now. I really want Ben 10 to make it to its 10th but with how divided its fanbase is now I doubt that may happen. @GoseiWonder: Yes, a fellow Rick and Morty fan! Are you waiting for Season 2 too? |

I don't know how to feel about Ben 10 as a whole. I really enjoyed the first series, but I know it's not perfect. But a big part of what made the action so much fun was that Ben didn't always get the transformation he wanted, so he had to improvise for his fights. But AF and UA he always got the transformation he wanted, and that weighed down fights since he always went with his muscle alien...On the flip side, Ben as a character wasn't as dickish, Kevin was fun, and Gwen was alright.
I know Ultimate Alien changed things up by making the fights more interesting by having Ben not just use his muscle characters in fights, but by that point I had lost interest. Omniverse was really fun, but it did pander way too much to the original Ben 10 than the other series. |
I never got into Ben 10. I was in High School when it first came out and I pretty much stop watching Cartoon Network at the time besides Toonami and Adult Swim. For a kids show, it was pretty cool. If I was 10 years younger at the time then I would love it.

Daphne is definitely high on something, though. |

I keep seeing Ftiz the Cat and other 70s cartoons when I see these designs. I don't think they're horrible but it's going to be an adjustment. It just looks so 70s I'm not sure kids will latch onto this series. |
Whats the general consensus on this year's Treehouse of Horror?

School is Hell and the Others were entertaining, while the opening and Clockwork Yellow were awful, even by Season 16-26 standards. It wasn't the worst TOH but there are better episodes of the sub-series out there. I will agree with Sentai with the notion that The Simpsons should be ended while it has a single shred of its dignity left. The couch gag for Clown In The Dumps hit the nail on the head; Matt Groening cannot handle doing a show for the length Simpsons has been on now without becoming dumber than it already was. Trying to complete with Family Guy and South Park with family friendly ratings was a mistake. It should have just played it safe since Bob's Burgers has proved you can be funny without constant shock factor. |
checked Netflix today, and found out they have the latest winx club movie, Winx Club: The Mystery of the Abyss on its service if anyone else is interested. now if only nick would shift into gear and release the ten remaining episodes of season six already.

Decided to check out Star Wars Rebels. 4 episodes in (first episode is a hour long so it counts as two episodes) and I like it. It had a Star Wars: The Clone Wars feel to it. C3-PO and R2-D2 were also in an episode also and they had their little dynamic. I'll keep watching it as I catch up to the latest episode.

Spent most of the weekend marathoning TMNT's second season. Liked it but I think the first was better.
Two spoilery thoughts: *did Mikey really eat a monster to death from the inside?!?! WHO thought of that?!?! *if you can't see the "twist" with Irma coming you haven't seen nearly enough action shows. And finally, this was way too short & yet TOTALLY worth it :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYbeYTjpfoM |
I don't think I'm entirely caught up (and we get it slightly later, anyway) but Rebels has been a fun romp, especially the terrific "Rise of the Old Masters" episode. This show is a love letter to the original trilogy, so much so that they use OT-style lightsabers and lightsaber effects.

Turns out there's another Simpsons crossover airing in the US this weekend- this time with Futurama.
