At 5.2% that's still a lower full series average than every other Heisei series. Even Wizard had a 5.8% for overall.

It just goes to show once again that Gaim was crazy over hyped by western fans. The toyline sold very well which made it a success, but the show in Japan was no more popular than any other recent rider.

And from what I have heard the toy line was far from reaching OOO or Double level of sales. So it was a giant success for the last years but not really that significant in the longrun.

That's just the TV ratings. That's not taking into account how many people watch these shows internationally online, but the reason for that's obvious. And toyline-wise it makes sense. Gaim, to me anyway, had too much merchandise. That makes people pick & choose since owning everything isn't as easy as previous seasons. It's been that way since Fourze. So more compact toylines like Double & OOO did better, atleast that's what I think.

While it was overhyped (and I'd like to remind everyone I was quite adamantly and vocally against all of the hype and even the premise of Gaim before the show started), I did end up really genuinely enjoying it quite a lot. I don't quite appreciate the seemingly spreading sentiment that nobody could have actually liked it, it was a bad show because ratings said do (bullocks to fucking ratings... but yeah this is the big one), or that its fans somehow ruined it.

I simply do not understand the ratings thing. "They were low" doesn't satisfy me... I always want reasons when arguments are made (as anyone should to be a good rhetorician), for better or for worse. I know kids here who probably would have loved Gaim a lot. Guess I just can't wrap my head around the whole culture gap thing...

Nobody knows why so few people tuned in and nobody will argue that gaim was a bad show. Far from it Gaim is a great show but the things we liked about it like the heavy emphasis on story with pretty much no filler, the dark and broody atmosphere and the high character death rate were probably what the audience didnt want out of Rider. I can imagine that the overall plot of Gaim would have become far too complicated for the target demographic (3-5 years) around the point were Hase died and those are the episodes were the ratings first show a heavy decline.

Well I'll argue Gaim had a bad main character story, and a bad ending but besides that I totally loved the show. Still ratings don't count watching it online, and DVR so it might be actually a lot higher who is watching it honestly.

Yeah but Toei and TV Asahi dont care about the people that DVR or watch online. Those people dont factor into the ratings cause they dont actually watch the show on the time it airs. Its pretty likely that alot of people saw it after the fact but the tv station doesnt gain any money from them.

Nope the early Heisei Shows had pretty high ratings.

Kuuga - 9.7%
Agito - 11.7%
Ryuki - 9.4%
Faiz - 9.3%
Blade - 7.9%

Those are pretty much the shows that fall under the "early heisei" umbrella and they all have really high ratings compared to modern rider. Blade dropped alot in the ratings compared to Faiz but like I said compared to Gaims ratings its still pretty high.

I really enjoyed it as well. I didn't say I hated the show, or say that it was bad in any way, just that frankly western fans were the ones who thought it was amazing while it was pretty much average in Japan. Likely we'll never really get the full picture behind why the percentages were so low. But at the end of the day they were, meaning this show will have no more lasting impact on the franchise to it's native market than any other. Which was the entire point of my original post. Nothing more.

Considering that back then in that period of time the only way to watch the shows were when they aired on TV of course they had higher ratings. Nowadays with all the recording, streaming & downloading going on there's less incentive to watch debuts & reruns, so they just choose not to & pick whenever they'll watch what they want.

High ratings mean that it's not just the kids watching the show, Fourze for example had terrible ratings, both it and Gaim started with low ratings from episode 1 not to mention the ratings of the first few episodes are generally the highest so it's all downhill from there.

The reason Fourze and Gaim had low ratings is because both looked like silly shows from the motifs, the only difference is that Gaim betrayed its premise and became much serious. So in the end, it probably lost some of the kids who wanted cool explosions and shit, that and the older audience didn't even give it a chance.

I wonder since Kouta is forever Kiwami Gaim. If there's gonna be extra movies, I wonder if he'll pass on Gaim to someone else on Earth?

And is Baron coming back in the crossover movie?

I'm pretty sure Kouta can go back and forth if he so pleases. He's a physical god now with the power of the Golden Fruit, and therefore Helheim.

I guess Gaim is the "Thor" of the KR world.

To be fair Sagara has gone to multiple worlds with the golden fruit so I'm pretty sure Kouta is not the only one around who could control Helheim or he is the only one around right now till the new one gets chosen from the end of Gaim.

The only thing I question about Kouta now is... That since he is able to go into Kiwami Arms as will, whats his reasoning for becoming his regular old Gaim Orange Arms in the movie.

Remember that this is Kouta we're talking about. He will not escalate beyond a certain point unless he's absolutely sure that there's no other way to get his point across. Even though he has the power of a god, he'll still hold back as much as he can to give the other person a chance to survive.

The only reason he didn't hold back against Kogane is because he was a monster, that there was no reasoning with him. A psychopathic, destructive artificial "god" that would threaten everyone and everything if not destroyed. Note that one of the very few times you can actually hear Kouta speaking with real hatred in his voice, his words dripping venom, is when he addressed Kogane.

That does make a lot of sense. Explains why he didn't just Kiwami Lord Baron into the ground when he was using banana arms.

That and Kaito and Kouta were pretty evenly matched in general.

It's possible that the movie's villain is able to restrict him in some way. Like maybe he has to use all of the golden fruit's power to keep his new planet from completely dying, so he's limited to what his belt can do while he's fighting.

My guess is that Kouta brought along a few toys.

That or they find Ryoma's stash.

My guess is Kouta is able to restore their Sengoku Drivers. That, or the movie takes place BEFORE the end of Gaim.

That was my thought to. He already remade the Kachidoki Lockseed after Redeyu destroyed it in their final battle. I doubt he'd have much trouble rebuilding regular Locks.

I believe it's already been confirmed that one of the villains in Gaim, that is currently living on the new world Kouta made wants to spread the Helheim curse back.

Considering we see both Shin Zangetsu and Normal Zangetsu in the set picks, my guess is that hell get the last genesis Driver destroyed by Ryoma and have to get a sengoku driver.
