I don't know about you guys, but Cloud in Smash made me jump for joy. This is something that would have never happen and took everyone by surprise. Seeing Cloud fighting Link is a 90's dream come true. I wanted Cloud in Smash as a kid and seeing it happen as a adult feels amazing. I feel like I'm 8 years old again.

So...Cloud? From FF7?
Fuck it, whatever. I guess Square is muscling in on the free spot that Snake left open after Konami's breakdown.
But why Cloud, though? The Warriors of Light were the OG Final Fantasy hero that actually debuted on a Nintendo system. Why not pick good ol' big red?

Cloud is the most iconic Final Fantasy hero in the series. He would probably be the best selling DLC character in Smash given how iconic he is and that fanboys can finally have Cloud vs. Link be a real thing now.

Goku. Goku is the only thing that could top Cloud. And at the rate this DLC train is going, we may have that possibly happen.

Yeah, Cloud's a big deal but I don't really feel it's as huge as Ryu turning up was. I guess its just because a Square character came more out of nowhere.

About 3 dollars for characters and about one or two dollars for stages.
Ryu costs about 6 because he comes with some trophies and a stage, i think Cloud will cost that much too.

Goku would make me seethe in rage and cry tears of blood.
All while I spend the 5.99 to buy him because I got a taste of what Goku in Smash would be like (Battle Stadium DON) and I want more...

I can't deny the hype people are feeling for Cloud was the same as what I felt for Ryu, having grown up playing Street Fighter.
It is a hell of a lot more unexpected since his title was kind of the first to not be involved with Nintendo at all.

I love the butthurt on Gamefaqs right now saying that Smash Bros now is forever ruined because of Cloud and that anyone can be in Smash now.

My eternal respect if that song doesn't make it in.
Because I like to be a downer like that and Sephiroth isn't in the game so having it makes no sense anyway.

I'm just gonna throw a random guess for a future DLC Smash character.
I'm thinking they might put something Yokai watch related into Smash, i think it would make sense with how they pretty much adopted that series into their family of franchises.

I feel like Cloud in Smash was bigger news then Ryu in Smash. With Ryu, Street Fighter has a decent history on Nintendo. People said that Cloud would never be in Smash since Final Fantasy 7 has been a major Sony title and Cloud has little to no history with Nintendo. Small roles in Kingdom Hearts hardly counts. Final Fantasy 7 almost represents Playstation since the late 90's.

I feel like Cloud in Smash is the most random news in the series since Snake in Brawl in my opinion. It was something no one expect to happen. Ryu was a surprise, but he had a chance to be in Smash given how popular SF2 was on the SNES back in the day. Cloud was a character that people always believe had zero chance being in Smash. For the people bitching about Cloud, people forget that he is DLC! You don't like him then don't buy him! Simple as that.

Snake in Brawl made a ton of sense because of Twin Snakes. This is an entirely different beast here :lol

I just feel that Ryu being added is more momentous than Cloud.
Yes, he was a larger surprise, but that's basically it. He's a character that caught people off guard, pulling a Lucas by appearing out of nowhere.
I don't feel he's a big deal.

And no one forgot that he's DLC. It's that, begrudgingly, some people feel a need to buy him since he's the second DLC character that isn't just an HD version of a previously cut character.

Eh, I don't feel strongly about Cloud getting into Smash either way.

On one hand I can relive the Cloud/Link Death Battle in SSB4 and that's pretty fricking cool if you ask me. On the other hand I never was that big into FF but I'm looking forward to seeing kjust what Cloud can do.

Well Cloud was voted on the Japanese poll, so there always been demand for him. Sakurai wasn't lying when he said the next few characters are fan service :lol.

Sakurai already said no anime.

Sakurai said that characters must have been in a video game first before appearing in anything else. So no Goku, Batman and Shrek in Smash. Jibyanyan from Yokai Watch is more likely then Goku. At least Yokai Watch was a video game first before it became a anime. Not to mention the series is huge in Japan right now and Nintendo could use Smash Bros to help promote the game and the show in the US.

I can imagine Nate (Keita) being similar how Pokemon Trainer worked back in Brawl going from what I've seen from the games and TV show.

I kind of want this to happen actually.
I imagine that Nate would fight by himself for regular moves that you tap the button but for smash attacks and specials he summons the power of random Yokai, like his standard B he calls out Jybanyan and uses Paws of fury.

At this point, I wouldn't put it past the Smash 4 DLC team to somehow get Goku in the game after the expectation breaking Cloud. After this, pretty much any videogame character is on the table for being in Smash that isn't Sony or Microsoft first party (except Banjio-Kazooie, maybe).

There's only so deep you can go with Nintendo characters, and Smash 4 kinda shows that digging a bit. So the future of new Smash characters to me, is third parties.

Goku is not from a videogame, but he sure as shit is in a lot of them. A lot more then some people characters on the current Smash Roster.

Goku started off as a manga character. Sakurai said all characters in Smash must have been from a video game first. For example, Pokemon was a video game first before it was a TV show and manga. Dragon Ball was a manga first before it was anime.

Sakurai also said fighting game characters wouldn't make it in yet Ryu is here and kicking.

So would Agumon count? He technically started off as a videogame character, you know in the same sense that MR Game and watch is a videogame character.
