Anyway, I checked the BBC site for news but I still couldn’t find anything. I guess it’s just pure speculation on the media’s part. |
I want this guy to be the Doctor. He's totally cute!! And we need a cute ginger Doctor. His past erformances may not be very Doctor-y, ut that doesn't mean that his uniqueness won't make for a good Doctor. Hell, our current Doctor was a Punk Rocker at one point in time (if I'm not mistaken).
|
Look, I know it's The Mirror, but I want this to happen so bad I can taste it.

Oh my word that would be incredible. Capaldi would have the time of his life doing that as his finale.
|
That would be awesome. The only problem is that I heard that Capaldi will regenerate at the end of the series and the next Doctor will feature properly in the Christmas special (similar to the 9th regenerating at the end of Series 1 then the 10th had his first full episode in the Christmas special). Unless that was a rumor as well.
But I really hope that happens. That would be awesome. EDIT: So Capaldi has stated he will be in the Christmas special but the regeneration will start at the end of the series. |
You know, it’s just occurred to me that Bill could be named for William Hartnell. Hartnell’s wife was called Heather.
Also, YES! I so want to see that Christmas special! |
Meh, it'd be nice to see, but not something I especially interested in.
Although replacing Bill Hartnell with another actor for a team-up does have precedent |
Am I the only one that noticed what Nardhole was using in last week episode was an Odoscope (the devices that doctors use to look inside your ears)? And it was whirring, so I guess it wasa Sonic Odoscope. XD
|
I was pretty nervous about this week when I learned that it was written by the guy that did "Forest of the Night" back in series 8, but this was actually a really good episode. Probably not an all-time classic, but it was very well done and had some really great stuff with Capaldi and Bill. I'm definitely continuing to love Bill, especially her entirely sensible questions that nobody has ever asked before, like why are the Tardis chairs nowhere near the controls.

This week's was probably my favourite so far, if only because the climax really hit an emotional note with me.
Was pretty much the same as the previous episodes though in that the plot was a little thin in places, but the characters were enough to help overlook it. I'm enjoying this consistently good run the show is having at the moment, but I'm really itching for something outstanding now. |

I am, however, super excited for Big Finish's Torchwood series 5. God bless Big Finish for keeping characters and stories alive long after they've been given the boot from the show itself. |
There we go, that was the episode I wanted. Incredibly strong stuff, and hopefully that repercussion will be carrying on for a good few more episodes.
And as much as I love Bill, Nardole is very quickly climbing my all-time favourite companions list despite minimal appearance so far. He's an excellent character. |
Big Finish scores again. Ten and Rose are back together for a new series of adventures including one of my favorites, the Ice Warriors!

Sorry for the double post, new info:
Michelle Gomez is wrapping up her time on the show with Peter. She doesn't rule out coming back at some point, but for now it seems Missy will bow out with series 10. I know a lot of people aren't keen on a crazy Master, but we've kind of been stuck with that since Simm and Gomez can be delightfully menacing. I've very much loved her performances and, like Capaldi, she can elevate some really rank material. I, for one, will miss her. Hrm, I wonder if we'll get a new TARDIS with all the other new stuff under Chibnall's watch. Source: Digital Spy Edit: Michelle Gomez did an AMA on Reddit a little while ago. It's hilarious and she is ridiculously awesome. I hope she shows up in Big Finish productions. Here's the link if anyone wants to check it out. |
We watched the first 5 episodes to the new season today and for the most part they were entertaining, especially the wooden house episode and the space station one, but I'm not sure to think about the new companion. Sometimes it sounds like she is mumbling and she makes me think she is just Martha 2.0. The bald headed dude though is great and is a far more entertaining companion. I'm curious to see where this is going to to despite there being this bittersweetness to it knowing this is Capaldi's final season. It's a shame because he is such a great doctor, yet he hasn't really had anything to truly signify his mark on the role. I hope that changes soon. Oh, and I'm going to predict that the Master is behind the vault. Why else would there be drums playing when they were standing in front of it?
|
Okay what? Bill isn't anything like Martha and isn't mumbling any of her lines. So if that's your issue you either have serious problems with British accents or need to check your hearing :/

As for speaking, she is the only character in the show I have an issue hearing at times. Although, it doesn't help that the sound on these episodes seems excessively low compared to the other seasons. And this is with my receiver turned up as high as I can go (it's just a general issue with Comcast though because it happens during Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, iZombie, Samurai Jack, etc. I think Better Call Saul is the only show that doesn't have this issue). |
Not sure how that applies to Martha more than any of the Doctor's other human companions, but alright then.

Time will tell if Bill (who the hell names a girl Bill anyway, I thought it was Belle??) really makes an impact or not. Her first step will be lasting more than one season. Although, I will admit, I did like when she brought up the butterfly effect. I don't think anyone has done that before. |
Companions with a "grand purpose" are exactly what's been ruining the show. Bill is exactly what the show needed. She's sharp, savvy (last couple of episodes notwithstanding) and there's zero chance of her having any sort of romance with the Doctor. She's the best companion since Donna already.

Anyway, I agree with ZeoRangerV. Bill is such a breath of fresh air―just what the show needed. |
Bill is great- she's fun to watch, has great charisma, doesn't either steal the show, or has the show stolen, by Capaldi, and is a great companion to have after the all-important Clara.
|
So I'm watching the BBC America Torchwood marathon, and right now it's showing the "Children of Earth" series/mini series. And guess who's in it. Peter fucking Capaldi! He's playing some kind of government official. And if it isn't him, this guys looks and sounds an awful lot like him. :lol
|
Yeah it's him. Was one of the best things about Children of Earth too.
|
hey so here's a couple of dumbass questions regarding weeping angels, ahem,
1. Do paradoxes kill weeping angels because they are the erasure of potential timelines? 2. if the statue of liberty is a weeping angel and all pictures of weeping angels are weeping angels themselves does that mean all pictures of the statue of liberty are weeping angels? 2b. if the above is true does that mean they're could be an entire earth in alternate timeline where the weeping angels have consumed every human thru various pictures? and would that make for a cool episode of the doctor having to explore a planet of nothing but weeping angels or alternatively a single weeping angel because they ultimately consumed each other due to hunger? 3. Are weeping angels sapient or simply sentient? as in do they have culture and language or are they just like animals looking for their next meal? |
I’ve only seen the first series of Torchwood. Are the subsequent series worth checking out?
|
Quote:
2. Yes. The picture of of an Weeping Angel is itself a Weeping Angel 2.b. quite possibly yes. That could be possible and would be interesting to see. 3. This is a hard one. They're described as quantum locked humanoids. They somehow communicate with one another and as shown in The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone, they can take the voice of a victim. I would say they're more like animals since most of them do hunt their victims. I would say sapient since they are living creatures and not just sentient statues, the statue part is just a defence mechanism. |
Aw man forgot about the Torchwood marathon. Meant to record that but am out of town so couldn't today. Still really want to watch that just for the Jack nostalgia.

So we watched the virtual reality and pyramid episodes last night. I honestly could not follow the virtual reality one at all. I had no idea what was going on, what half of the things were that they were talking about, nor do I remember that book from a previous episode. Was the entire thing just a computer simulation or did they actually meet the pope? How did they even get stuck inside a computer?
The pyramid episode was good though. I highly enjoyed it and those monk creatures are pretty awesome. There is one thing that is really pissing me off this season though. The lack of an ending to the episodes. The show will cut to commercial but instead of doing a credit sequences or anything to tell me the episode is over Class starts up. WTF? How about you finish the first show up before you start the next one? |
It wasn't virtual reality. Literally everything in it was a simulation, including the Doctor and Bill. None of them were real. And you weren't supposed to recognize the book... it was a plot device solely in that episode.

The point was just to introduce us to the monks as a threat by showing they are so advanced they have created true artificial intelligence and can wholly replicate the entirety of human history in a simulation to predict where they will go so as to better counter them. Doing something like that isn't an easy feat. That's what I've taken it as any way, though haven't seen the conclusion to the three parter yet either to know how close that was. But the pyramid episod aligns with that I thought. |

What they didn't count on was the virtual Doctor being clever enough to then go and broadcast the whole thing to real Doctor so he'd be prepared for their actual invasion. |
