I can see both Sentai and Matrixbeast's points about cartoons.
It is very difficult to gauge how the viewing audience will judge a certain show. Part of why we lost Avengers:EMH and YJ is because in addition to the market being full of super hero movies both A:EMH and YJ were seen as too dark and grim according to some fans. Some shows luck out and can go on for what seems like forever (Dr. Who being a good example). The reason I think the Simpsons are dying is due to trying to be Family Guy/South Park edgy and be "family friendly" at the same time and that just does not work all that well. In the end it is opinion after all. Would I let Simpsons end so there could be a sliver of hope we'd get a good superhero cartoon back? I would, but again it's hard to say what people want these days. Bill Crosby said that a surefire way to displease everyone is trying to please everyone and I feel that is what's happening with shows these days. Still I do echo Sentai's statements on Simpsons. Matt is creatively drained and should step down so new blood can come and make something new and hopefully better. |
Korra Season 4, episodes 4 and 6.
So...Kuvira is basically Avatar Hitler. |

Watched the first 2 episodes of Sonic Boom. It's quite clearly borrowing from the non-plot episodes of Adventure Time in style, but it surprisingly works. I got a fair few laughs out of it and enjoyed them a lot more than I did X or Underground.

Soooooooo.....
Sonic Boom... It got a few good chuckles out of me, and it's nice to see a Sonic cartoon go for a more lighthearted, cartoony approach again. Not sure how I feel about the 2 11 minute episodes format, though. The animation is really nice too. I just have two hopes. 1. Sonic goes super at least once 2. Shadow shows up. Also, Amy's voice had me tripping balls. |
So it's pretty much confirmed Ben 10 is ending this week.
I'm just gonna say it: Derrick was blinded by nostalgia and in the end along with stupid network demands (why on earth would you make Ben transform less and stick Skurd on the Omnitrix to push a toyline that was doomed from the start?) killed the series. While it did have its flaws I'm going to miss Ben 10. Perhaps in the future we'll get a reboot that wouldn't be as disliked as Omniverse was. I doubt the fanbase will ever be the same again but a break could do the franchise wonders. The Batman movie franchise was doing well after its reboot until Dark Knight Rises; could Ben 10 make that kind of comeback someday? |
It's entirely possible to have the series make a comeback. I just hope for more classic and less Alien Force.

Doesn't look bad But at the same time it feels like they're trying to turn Aquaman into DC's Thor and Orm into DC"s Loki. I actually kinda laughed at the last scene where he gets his name |
And my fears were put to rest. This week's episode of Korra didn't fall under the episode 10 curse. :D

Looks decent. Final scene got a chuckle. I'll check it out.

It's very good but an incredibly complicated read. |

It'd be difficult to adapt it into a movie, since it took advantage of the comic book medium so much, but, in the right hands, the result could be really interesting. It's also a Grant Morrison work. |
A Multiversity/Pax Americana movie would be impossible to do. It needs to be a comic to work. If you do a movie rendition of it you would need to do a completely different story that does the same things with movies what Pax did with comics.
And most likely you would need Morrison himself to make that work :lol |

A large part of what makes Pax Americana so complex is in its storytelling. It took full advantage of the comic-book medium to tell its story of a conspiracy surrounding the assassination of the President. Some of the scenes in Pax Americana translate easily into film. Others do not. But it is possible. Some things would just have to be rearrangement. |

In a movie you dont have this much control over how you wanna experience what you are reading. Especially one that is shown in theaters were the audience can not control the movie only watch it. |

That said—in reading the comic panel-by-panel, I think that, while it would be challenging, it could be done. It would be a confusing movie, but one that I think people would watch and rewatch to better understand it. For instance—the scene in which the Question is investigating Nora's murder, AKA this one: http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1417901761 You wouldn't be able to have translated into film exactly like in the comic. The comic makes use of its space too well to do that. However, if we were to rearrange the movement of the characters and the placement of some of the object, such that this could be read like this— http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1417902123 —then you could still incorporate the key story-telling element in the film while preserving cinematic flow. MORRISON!! |

But thats what I meant with that its unfilmable. You cant replicate it you just cant because film and comic are so different mediums. You can make a Pax Americana film but you cant make a film out of Pax Americana if that makes any sense :lol Morrison you freakin genius!!! |

This needs to be a live action film. With Ryan Gosling as Bluegrass and the voice of Copper Kid done by one of those vocaloids it is a match made in heaven. Here is a fan video that matched it with Jetman for extras http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0auhGq70rlU |

Catching up on Adventure Time...
Did not expect to hear so much Philip J. Fry in the first episode I'm watching. Edit: Or Farnsworth. Woah. |
So, the first 13 episodes of the new Transformers show have been put online in China (for a price).

Shame all the toys still look bad to me lol. |
Justice league adventures: Trapped in Time. It's a campy, more kid-oriented movie but done in a way that doesn't treat children like idiots I thought it was very enjoyable, even if Karate Kid was annoying...

I watched Vision Quest, the episode of 2012 TMNT everyone was talking about yesterday.
This is what I have to say: About f***ing time they addressed how crappy the Turtles are! Having them train in the woods; living off the land for the most part and was a great plot and I'll admit while I don't want to see it played out the same way all the time having each new TMNT do a "Vision Quest" of sorts will do wonders for the story. I have no complains about Raph and Mike's means of working on their flaws, although Leo's leg injury wasn't really his fault so having him overcome it AGAIN was somewhat pointless and Donatello's was stupid. Time and time again it's been proven his obsession with April is hurting both him and both his family and New York. Instead of dealing with that the writers copped out and just said "Oh Donny has a weak body; let's make him strong like the mountains and give him a cool mask!" Of course the mask is cool and it was great seeing the Foot Clan (the best characters of the show IMHO) again even if only in spirit form, but I still feel Don was wasted potential. It's perfectly fine for Don and April to be close; it's TMNT lore that goes back to the Mirage comics but this puppy love triangle with Casey HAS. TO. STOP. |
The first episodes of "Transformers: Robots In Disguise" (the new one) aired in Australia today, meaning the series is finally available in English.
And after watching an episode I must say... its really not very good. The animation has taken a big step backwards from the last show, the voice cast isn't winning me over, the story doesn't capture my interest at all & the designs just feel like reheated leftovers. |
