I'm so bad at Pokemon I only just found out about EV training by watching the "Pikachu vs Blanka" Death Battle. Of course the Street Fighter character won, but I did find out more about EV training.

I'm horrible at micro managing, so I doubt with all the fancy pecks new trainers get in Gen V I'd still suck at Pokemon.

I'm actually really down with this new Gen VI thing for two reasons: 1, it gives me something to buy for my 3DS other than BIT.TRIP Saga, and 2, everything seems to suggest that it's getting an international release on the same day. That's how it should be.

Oh, and there are new Pokemon or something to that effect as well.

Generally speaking, it should be.

Most (If not all) tournaments run with the Species clause (No duplicate Pokemon), Evasion clause (No using moves who's sole purpose is to increase the Pokemon's evasion stat), Sleep clause (Only one Pokemon on each team can be inflicted with the Sleep status at a time), Selfdestruct/Explosion clause (If a match ends with one of the players using Self destruct or Explosion and both Pokemon faint, the user loses) and the OHKO clause (No One-Hit KO moves).

Because this is just "For fun" tournament, feel free to use or disregard any of those.

We should use pokemon showdown so we can make the team we always wanted.

Just put in two Pokémon in your team and we'll test it out. Like try to just pick two random Pokémon you have that are like between LV50-60 so we can see if it'll adjust.
