- As any business, you want to make money off a product, so before even deciding to do a figure, one has to be certain that demand and sales will eventually off-set production cost - Figures that have a similar suit design (with a different helmet) are more cost-effective, as you simply use different colored plastic for the majority of the figure and then a different mold for the head - Figures that have a special suit design or armor (so almost every 6th Ranger/Extra Hero) are harder to create because of the lack of an ability to repurpose the body (so basically, it better be guaranteed to sell xx amount otherwise it'll be a major loss) So in essence, we're more likely to see releases of characters that have similar designs in suits that aren't super crazy in design (ie: In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, Dino Thunder) before we see figures or teams that have unique suits or really detailed suits (ie: Zeo, Time Force, Dino Thunder, Mystic Force, Jungle Fury). If I'm right on all of that, it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the insight :) |
