I agree totally with this. With regards to Wizard, it can be dark, but you don't just make things dark for the sake of making it so. Artificial "darkness" does not add depth, and at least for American superheroes, was a cheap late 80s/90s gimmick used to appear cool.

What a Kamen Rider should be is heroic. I heard that Kamen Riders have only started being more explicitly heroic post-Decade, but I like this change. You can be heroic in a dark universe (I heard Ryuki was this, but I haven't watched it yet), but I'd really hate for borderline evil superheroes. Heck, even Accel, Ankh and Meteor became heroes/anti-heroes in their own right.

If Fourze killed off all the students at Amanogawa High, without a really, really good reason, I will divorce myself from that series altogether.

No way, no how. People love these characters and killing them out, even if it's not all of them, is going to cause some serious backlash. I think that plotpoint is best saved for a Kamen Rider series that's meant to be DARK. Also killing characters all the time can cause people to think of the artform as something less than meaningful and enjoyable. Who would want Toei to do what DC and Marvel are doing and just do killing for the simple sake of killing? There are ways to show depth without mindless murder.

Ryuki is super dark. Even the 3 guys who think they're being "heroic" by doing what they do are some evil bastards. It's the guys (like Ryuki himself) who fight to protect that wind up being truly heroic in that world.

I didn't say you don't do it for no reason, but if you can write it that way smartly, it would sure make for a shocking ending.

Anyway, I haven't watched Fourze yet, so I cannot comment outside of the first episode.

Shocking doesn't necessitate good.
An everyone dies ending, when written expertly, is still a bad ending. Death in a series is shocking when it's sporadic. When it happens every other episode or in giant chunks, it's cheapened. The deaths become less and less meaningful. A hero dying at the end of their series is emotional. Everyone dying at the end of their series is a waste of everyone's time.
