Because recoloring Iron Man's armor and slapping a ZyuRanger helmet on it and melting an AOE Dinobot toy require so much effort.:rolleyes

It's a sad day when both a movie from 20 years ago and a guy on the internet actually put more effort and creativity into a design then a big budget movie in 2017.

Oh, they look just like the designs from the show, how lazy of them to not try and come up with something more original.

You seriously think recoloring Iron Man's armor in Photoshop is more original then updating an old design to make it more realistic/modern?

So far the designs from this movie are getting harder to swallow....

It's more original than using that as a comparison, that's for sure.

Anyways, uh, yeaaaaah this is a really weird design, kinda reminds me of a Doctor Who alien than Alpha.
Still not as bad as that robot from Megaforce though.

The design for this looks alright. I've enjoyed most of what I've seen from this movie so far and this might take some getting used to. I can see it being a fun character in the movie.

The big problem is that the level of deviation is not in sync with the level of appropriation expected and needed.
And the whole "it is to match the taste of the majority so that we may acquire more" rubbish is just... rubbish.
Personally so far I only like the red ranger suit since it somewhat resembles the red ranger and the megazord I am okay with despite looking like a rejected final form of Ryukendo and I feel it does not belong.
The other suits? The motifs are not so distinct and hardly resemble what they should be and rather look like four different kinds of mutant stingrays.
And now Alpha appears looking like a flatheaded snail with no shell.
