All I'm going to say is that if you find "That's Lucky!" an annoying catchphrase, you might have a Super Mega problem.
Daigo was never as much of an issue to me as Takaharu from Ninninger. Talk about easy winning. Nothing ever phased Takaharu's character. Lucky is basically Takaharu 2.0. With more shouting. So much shouting. The only reds I ever felt actually had a challenge was Marvelous and Right. Marvelous because he had a goal, but he was so surly about it he didn't care who was in the way. Right because he actually created his own mirror enemy. |
It's how he Mr Perfect and everything goes his way that makes me think of Daigo. Daigo could sneeze and and upgrade would come his way. Lucky is acting the same way.
Marveous was great, as are Ryo, Geki, Sasuke, Matoi, Kyosuke, Ryuoma, and Tatsuya. |
Lucky didn't seem that bad this episode though I was bored through out the episode and been thinking of him as a kid.Though I do miss Yamato.

The poll should just be varying differences of the phrase :p

And sadly Lucky's acting needs some work, but he is tolerable in this episode. Writers need to learn not to make him shout all the time. Catchphrases cannot be spammed frequently. And to be honest, I do enjoy this week's episode, far more than Zyuohger. Although back then I did enjoy Ninninger's second episode as well and look what happened. |
Lucky's actor seems to be another case of miscasting, I think. The few scenes in the second episode that had him a bit more toned down were actually a lot better than him at his usual self. I think you could easily do a calm and collected character with the "insanely good luck" aspect still there.

For a calmer insanely good luck red, one idea I have is make it someone who follows their gut feeling knowing that it may take him down a dangerous path but the end of the path will be worth it. At least it would be one way where he can always be happy because know there is always a light at the end of the tunnel instead of a kid who gets excited over anything new.
