For that matter, what were those cards? Toei has a nasty habit of doing that don't they? Naming a movie or special after a character or plot element that really isn't that important. They had five actors returning for what is essentially an epilogue story, yet they chose to name it after a joke?

As for the actual Go-Rider part of Go-Rider, it sure was a thing. It's almost whiplash inducing when those cards abruptly show up, but the fight scene itself is goofy fun, and if that's the price we have to pay to get this cool story, so be it.

It was cool. I honestly just rolled with the initial reveal of "He's an Undead who sacrificed his humanity, so he's basically dead for all intents and purposes," so I was pleasantly surprised that they dug their heels and said "No, Blade is still alive. Not between life and death, not technically dead, none of that." So it was neat.

Still, there are a few parts that are head scratching.
First, how could Kenzaki sense the cards being used in the virtual world? I mean, yeah, I know Undead are drawn to each other, but that one is a bit of a stretch...
Second, why did Dan use Blade of all Riders? I know he needed to pick a Rider whose whereabouts were unknown, but I'm pretty damn certain Kickhopper cares if someone steals his likeness. This is more of a story telling reason over anything, since I love Blade and Kenzaki :lol
Third, does this mean that Decade is even worse at continuity? Since main universe Blade dimension hopped to kill Decade, that would mean that 1. His universe now only has 1 Undead (Hajime), and 2. The universe Blade was in likely didn't have any Undeads, so...Shouldn't 2 worlds have been destroyed?
Fourth, why didn't Kenzaki have a final scene to help cap things off? I'm a little disappointed. He and Emu just leave the game world, and he's just gone...

Still, I really loved this crossover. Honestly, if THIS was the Super Hero Taisen film, I would've been very satisfied.

OH YES, ONE MORE THING I GOT TO MENTION:
It's super awkward to watch Blade and Another Agito transform beside Ex-Aid, Laser, Baron, and Marika. They're so loud and bright, and they just stand there, waiting, since everyone else has a million special effects and sounds to play before they actually transform. It's such a hilarious contrast.

Emu got the cards at the end of Chou Super Hero Taisen. I won't ruin it, but they get used then too.

It's not a nasty habit. It's historical wistfulness on the part of Toei. Because how else are you going to consistently beat your viewers over the head/give the nostalgia fans their pantsu explosions than showing as many Heisei characters as possible. It used to just be every once in a while, but as we get into the 'major' anniversaries (20, 25, 35, 40, 50, or 2000 episodes), the nostalgia choo choo just runs everyone over. Personally, I don't mind, it gives me some more information about series that I have yet to watch. And it's infinitely more satisfying than having a JDF return every season on some other Super Mega show.



But how else am I supposed to feel about Emu? If he were blander, he would be Takeru from Ghost. Where he really shines is when he is in his M persona. Let's face it, Ex-Aid has a medical motif and for good or bad everyone gets to be a bleeder. I also have to believe (I gotta believe) that unlike Takeru getting killed and revived every ten episodes, they decided it would be easier to just maim Emu a lot until he got the message. Also Kuroto is just a d--k.



There was no loss of character attributes in the writing, was there? And I agree, that was the best part. Having it as no more than six hero characters made it easier to develop in the 90 minutes. Granted the gaping plot hole of 'let's follow the guy that gets stabbed a lot', but I'll ignore it. It wasn't Twilight Zone. It was Groundhog Day: The Game.

Kaito/Baron really needed his own series.



The use of Blade's lore to fill in the gaping plot hole was possibly one of the better tricks used in a crossover.

As an Undead, Kenzaki is able to sense when other Undead are around. Kind of like being the Highlander. In the virtual world though....again, we'll use the Decade Effect.

Dan used Kenzaki because an Undead Orphenoch is that bridge gap between the living and non-living world. Easier when you are a zombie I'm sure.

Let's just all admit that Decade gets one thing right. It is so #$@%@%$ up that you could literally throw any continuity in there and call it factual.

Kenzaki didn't need a final scene. He just dusted himself off and moved on.
