Are the shoulders hollow? Do these transform between modes?

He transforms by basically standing on his arms and his legs becoming new arms. You tunr him upside down. It's actually really smooth and creative.

Oh I know how they transform, that transformation has been used in many different lines, I was just wondering if that particular figure transforms

Found my digital camera in a suitcase and decided to take more photos of my baby, but then I realised that honestly my four year old relatively budget priced digital camera isn't much better - if at all - than the camera I've got tacked onto my phone. I'd say it was actually worse.

Yep he's totally figuarts scale!

I own one but admittedly he's a bit banged up as I haven't taken the best of care of him over the years aheh...though one thing that's been pretty much the same since I got him was that his right arm has a really really loose joint, Den-O have you experienced the same with your figure?

Indeed it is figuarts scaled! It's an Action Works Metalder. Megahouse used to produce various Metal Heroes in that line before their company was acquired by Bandai and the line ceased to be. Even for an older figure this guy looks great in any SHF collection.

As I've said in the past I feel the Action Works Gavan, Shaider, & Sharivan are far superior to their easily broken SHF counterparts. Megahouse produced Gavan, Sharivan, Shaider, Metalder, and a ridiculously awesome Winspector 3-pack that I still have yet to obtain.
Actually mine really isn't all that loose. I spent years trying to find one for a reasonable price, they turn up on Mandarake on occasion in excess of $150 though. Finally scored this one second hand on Amazon Japan and it's still nice and tight. Appears hardly used. The only issue I have is the elbow joints like to pop apart while changing out hands.
