All I remember was I could have sworn that maroon was part of his original color scheme. And that the pretty much all purple one wasn't the original.

Magicians...magicians EVERYWHERE

I just don't like the color scheme, myself.
As a figure it looks nice, but I think I'd wait until the purple w/ green staff design was released simply because it's the most "Iconic" Dark Magician design, despite not being the original look. |
Man volume 8 to 15 cover the dullest kingdom arc I notice there where three filler dual in anime now after reading manga. I really want a manga accurate adaption now not that hd crap they relased l.

I've been wanting a manga accurate adaptation in anime form for years. It'll never happen though because the series is now about selling cards rather than telling a story. |
I feel like they want to avoid a manga adaptation, not just because of the violence and gore, but because the Duel Monsters game barely resembles the “Magic and Wizards” from the manga anymore. They dropped a lot of stuff from manga when they made the anime in an effort to introduce cards with rules they can actually sell in a working game.
Magic and Wizards was a completely different game with a bonkers rule set, and I feel like making an adaption out of the early years of Yu-Gi-Oh! Has no value to Konami whatsoever. Dark Side of Dimensions is probably the closest you ever get to seeing the old characters again, aside form the usual crossovers. Don’t think we’ll see a faithful adaptation of the manga as long as the franchise still sells. |

I bet they could adapt the entire manga into 100ish episodes. |

Next 2 Mega-Tins this year are Yugi and Kaiba-centric so they have their respective God Cards (Obelisk and Slifer) and their signature cards (Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician)

Figured I'd just drop this off
http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/...psqqdk3gcr.png Any deck can pull off fusion/synchro/xyz and get all 3 out if you know what you're doing |
Was never a big fan of synchros despite how necessary they are. On the other hand, I prefer XYZs, but they often don't have the same strengths as synchros. I hate the Pendulum stuff and that is what has killed the game for me. Well that and every time I finally got a deck made it was obsolete.
I was able to play an awesome Shinato deck for a good 5 years before I had to give it up. After that, nothing was the same. I had a pretty killer Counter Trap deck that became impossible to use within six months. Archlord Zerato deck? Done. Archfiend deck? Gone. Two month's after I got my awesome Nordic Deck, it couldn't even win a single match. I moved onto the Arthur Knights stuff, obsolete after a month. I went with Ghostricks, BOOM, right after I finished buying the cards I needed it wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. I managed to get an Exciton Knight and now he is banned. Yet, Trishula is apparently back in the game. WTF? The only deck I still have that can sometimes compete is Six Samurais, but everyone uses them. |
I'm so lost at whats going on above right now, I stopped right after they banned E-Stratos.
My Hero deck was like a non working tank. |
I stopped as soon as they introduced Pendulum. Once I learned how that mechanic worked, I knew that there was no way for me to keep up.
I ran a Gishki control/Beatdown deck, and doing that was particularly hard once they limited Mind Augus for no reason beyond assholes making infinite stall decks involving it, but I made it work even as the game advanced. But once Pendulum was announced, it was basically like they just hit a hard restart button for everyone. Either you built Pendulum or counter Pendulum, or you have to learn to deal with your opponent basically getting a full field again the turn after you wipe them. I just don't have the money to try to continue playing after that. |
I think I stopped playing once GX came along. I did buy some boosters and build a Hero deck, but after that I kinda lost interest. However I only played casually so I don’t know squat about how the game is played seriously anyways.
I still buy cards from time to time if they print classic manga /anime cards I like, but more as a collector than a player. |
GX was actually what reinvigorated the spark for me to keep playing :lol
It made the game interesting since it evolved from "10 turns of dicking around and then summon your big guns and win." Card effects became bigger than the spells and traps, so while it got more confusing (The amount of times I had to pause a game to have my opponent tell me a card effect, then read the effect myself to make sure they weren't bullshitting me was rather often :lol), but it made things more interesting without having to introduce a new mechanic. (That is to say, I didn't like the anime one bit, but I stopped enjoying the anime around the Dragons arc) |
GX was what got me into Yugioh when I was a kid. After a few years, I phased out of it, until around mid to late Zexal in middle school did I try and get back into it. I like XYZs and Synchros, but it was just so hard to keep up with the rule changes, and then Pendulums became a thing. Ugh.
I realize now Yugioh has essentially been one big power creep to sell cards. Any OP deck formulas recently introduced would be nerfed in about a year, but a stronger deck would come out. For fuck's sake, the game at the beginning was a lot slower and required tributes, but by the time Zexal came around, you could almost make monsters out of thin air by just so happening to have monsters with the same level. |
Yeah the anime stopped being enjoyable once the fillers became too obvious. Even as kid who never read the manga it was too "different" for me to be enjoyable. There were some good parts in the anime, but the filler arcs definitely aren’t a part of that IMO.
And I do think the game became more interesting, but I think once GX came along I was in that age where you were only allowed to be interested in "cool" things because how other people think about you was important back then. Fuck puberty. |
I never stopped, but I haven't got any new cards since Primal Origin.

So, this has been floating around the 'Net for a couple days-
https://vimeo.com/160783498 Some kinda redub (or fandub) of the first episode of "Duel Monsters" |

Unless you mean the VERY beginning where Summoned Skull was considered the best monster in the game. |

Though it could just be my personal timing (Since, by the time I started playing more competitively, Yata lock was banned, Exodia was too slow at the time, and I honestly just never ran into Goats). |

This is why as a card game, I like Vanguard way more as it gives you more freedom to make whatever kind of deck you want and be competitive with it. GX was also the first time I watched Yugioh in Japanese and man, what a huge difference that made. |

http://figsoku.net/blog-entry-20779.html Of course, they had to do Kaiba and Blue Eyes I wonder how these scale next to the Figmas? Cause I would not mind getting the Kaiba to go a long with my Figma Yugi. |
Is there a new version of Blue Eyes, because I know about 4 different Blue Eyes artworks, and that doesn't correspond with any of them.

Does anyone when Dark Side of Dimensions tickets go on sale? The movie is getting a limited release in the US in January.

How far has the current Yu-Gi-Oh franchise deviated from the original?
I don't collect and play the cards but I want to know which season after the original is a decent watch. I saw some of GX when it was on TV out of boredom back in the day and heard that 5Ds is Fast and the Furious + Judge Dredd + card games but never watched it. Anyways, let me know if there is a post-original show season you guys feel is worth watching. |
Huh we have a thread for this... I guess I'll post my deck questions here

Like Jaden using Masked Heroes as part of his deck, and him getting Winged Kuriboh from a different person. |
Read the first 7 volumes of the Manga. Because it's not trying to advertise anything, it's a lot more varied, with multiple different games that Yugi and friends play. Hell, Bakura is a Dungeons and Dragons fanatic (Volume 8 and onwards is called Yu-Gi-Oh Duelist, which is the Duel Kingdom arc and on).
Concerning shows, GX is pretty decent once it starts delving into the characters, and I hear 5Ds isn't bad, either. Never watched the other two to really say much on them. |
