I'd be totally okay with the PMAX Gashat not being DX if like... ALL of the Proto Gashat were like that. It'd make them all feel a little more prototype-y. That said, I just know that at least Proto Gekitotsu Robots is going to be an actual DX Gashat and it kind of annoys me a little that they're not going to match, honestly.

Guess I gotta eat my words. LVUR Lazer doesn't look too bad, actually. His Driver is even painted, somewhat. A little surprised too that the transformation for level 3 works exactly like I was thinking it would. Cool that the head is articulated, though not so much that the level 1 head is stuck to it. Guess we'll see how it'll look with the Chambara Gama.

Not super into the Giri Giri Chambara sounds unfortunately. They're not awful, but...not really into them.

Man, I gotta say I love both Gashacon Sparrow and LVUR 7 of Lazer. I'm kinda surprised that they used ball joint on Lazer's head. But, that's the real reason why the figure looked so interesting. It gives super articulation on the head. Especially due to they also made LVL 1 Lazer has some sort of head articulation. Seeing how it works, I could easily deduce how will the Chambara Gamer work with this figure. I just hope the horn and the mouth piece on Chambara Gamer won't cut the head's articulation so much. I also love Gashacon Sparrow due to its simplistic but eye-catching design It's SFX was superb either. The Chambara Gashat was okay.... At least, it was much better than Doremifa Beat but I still love Gekitotsu Gashat. Though, I love the japanese shamisen sound in it.

URG! I didn't get a GiriGiri Gashat before HLJ listed it as discontinued either. Hope they get a restock notice before the end of the year...

I other news. The Slot Holder went up for restock orders and I did get my payment request for the Gamer Driver! Just in time. Hopefully this means I qualify for PMAX, but I emailed them just to make sure. Unfortunately they're closed on weekends, bah!

So far....the best Rider Gashat Sounds in my opinion is Mighty Action X, Taddle Quest, and Gekitotsu Robots.

Hey does anyone know what a good price is for a gamer driver or gashhat with shipping is? I'm looking at some from ebay shops and want to know how much the price is inflated.

Keep an eye out on sites like hobbylink, hobbysearch or amiami? Stuff gets regularly restocked and these have the best prices for stuff. Ebay is just scalper hell so I tend not to touch it for new things.

Also oh man this month is insane, I have everything bunched together and too much. A couple of gashats, the bugvisor and the gashacon sparrow and woooo it's expensive. I might need to take a break from collecting DX stuff for a few months. I genuinely don't remember a DX line hitting my wallet this bad so early on.

After seeing all the Level 3 forms as a toy my ranking for toy form would be:
1. Lazer
2. Genm
3. Snipe
4. Brave
5. Ex-Aid

Yesterday, I got Lazer and the Gamers for everyone except Snipe in the mail.

I'd looked forward to these, but mostly, I'm unimpressed. When I decided to more or less go all-in on this line, I'd hoped for something along the lines of the Gaim Arms Change figures. Thing is, from what I've seen of Arms Change, the base figures were largely able to retain their articulation and function.

The Gamers more or less paralyze Ex-Aid and Brave. Since the masks are attached to the chest plates, they lose head articulation. (Why they didn't replicate what Arms Change did and make the masks separate is puzzling.) Anything other than a straight-frontal pose looks bad. The figures are also made excessively top-heavy, so just getting them into a stable pose is more challenging than it ought to be.

In their Gamer forms, the Robot and Beat Gamers just don't do anything. They have little to no articulation and, much like their armor forms, they only look good from straight on. Gaim's fruit armor had the benefit of their non-armor form being, well, deliberately inanimate. There' no reason to expect the orange to do anything. With the Gamers, their form kinda implies some kind of function that just isn't there.

So the Robot and Beat Gamers aren't great. I'd be interested in seeing Figuarts versions of these designs, since I think the gimmick here gets in the way of some interesting/fun design.

Lazer was the best purchase of the lot and the most substantial toy. It looks better as a bike than I'd have expected. I haven't changed it into its Level 1 form yet, and the base figure for Level 3 is pretty good.

The Chambara Gamer is... How do I put this? As a Gamer, it's trash. However, it's far more ambitious than the Robot or Beats Gamers. It tries for greater articulation, and I appreciate that. The problem is that the tiny connections for its limbs are so weak, it's all unusable. It falls apart - to quote Archer - for, like, no reason. It looks arguably slightly better than the other two, as long as you don't try moving those limbs.

Where it shines is in its Level 3 combination with Lazer. The Limbs are largely *not* floppy and are relatively functional when attached to Lazer for his Chambara Gamer form. (I'm still having trouble not typing "Chanbara.") counter to my complaints about the other Gamers, the mask is a separate piece that attaches well to relatively well-hidden holes in Lazer's face.

Level 3 mostly works. For what it is, it's got relatively decent articulation and proportions. Level 3 is more or less the "complete" version of Lazer in a way that's not true for the other Level 3 forms. Unfortunately, some of its articulation is blocked by its slightly bulky design, and the articulation of the head is iffy. (Technically, it can move, but it doesn't look good in doing so.) Lazer also suffers from the same problem the other Ex-Aid riders have, which is hand articulation so weak he can barely hold his weapons. I'm also coming to the conclusion that Lazer Level 3 actually looks a little better without the mask.

That Bandai went out of their way to supply each of these with a swappable Driver is a welcome and unexpected touch.

Finally, there's Sports Gamer, Genm's bicycle. First, to my surprise, he can actually be more-or-less posed riding it. Second, he's got a lot more articulation than the other Riders in Level 3 form. He's not quite as top-heavy. He shares the mask problem with the other riders. (That mask problem isn't just limited to the immobility; there's really no pose in which Brave's or Genm's faces look great.) He looks okay in more poses than the others. To my surprise, Genm actually looks better with the Sports Gamer than Ex-Aid does, even though it's consistent with Ex-Aid's color scheme. The form is a little clunky, and the parts that plug into the shoulders are unnecessary, don't work that well, and hinder the articulation of the arms. It's not bad, but it's not fantastic.

In retrospect, I regret picking up the Robot and Beat gamers, but I feel that Lazer and the Chambara/Sports set were worthy purchases, despite the weakness of Chambara in its Gamer form. (Alas, I also pre-ordered Jet Combat.) These purchases together have left me questioning how much deeper I want to delve into the LVUR line. I think I'll give the upcoming Gamers a pass unless they work VERY differently.

Not having it in hand, I'm not 100% sure. But I think that the Lv10 image is back-lit, comes from the side of the Gashat, and is reflected onto a semi-translucent mirror that sits in the display diagonally (just like on the Gamer Driver). Then the Lv20 image is on the back wall of the Gashat hidden behind the translucent mirror, which is front-lit from behind the mirrored surface and appears through it...

... does that make ANY sense at all?

So these are...a little weird. They have a working, if simplified, version of the henshin sounds triggered by the two buttons on the back, so I'm a little confused on why they also felt the need to have the black button cycle through them as well. Lack of music on the name is also kinda disappointing. Game Clear is kind of neat though. All the changes overall are...understandable, I suppose. Not really losing any sleep over the Gashat/Gashoon and specific Kimewaza sounds, since those seem like the natural things to cut.

Still, they're not great. The visual works more or less as I was expecting, and while serviceable it's not that successful. I was kind of hoping/expecting them to use GITD paint but I don't actually have any idea whether that'd actually work at all.

The chrome ones at least look very nice. Unfortunately, I think the incomplete metallic paint job (since the back buttons and the area under it are the base plastic color), along with the seam, and most importantly, the weird off-model bump on the handle, keep them from working that well as just display pieces--honestly, if it wasn't for that bump I'd probably be interested in them just for that. Shame.

Kinda curious on how they'll do Dangerous Zombie since these have no functionality with the Bugle Driver whatsoever. Also because the dark window on the Bugvisor makes it pretty much impossible to see anything inside without lights.
