A couple behind-the-scenes photos have given us our first (indirect) look at the cast.
|
The Ryusoulger twitter made a pun on the Japanese words for Deja-vu and chivalry, basically saying that they're aware of the similarities but that the show won't be the same. Makes sense with the new staff. Also, I don't know if it was reported here but Tyramigo is likely going to talk. Been a while since we had talking mechs

Dukemon from Rangerboard just sorta translated a tweet from TOEI:
https://twitter.com/therealmatthunt/...023759361?s=21 Toei’s a pun master. This reads “What I want to convey to you all is not a sense of deja vu (kishikan) but a sense of chivalry (kishikan) Tyra~” In essence, people should focus less on the fact we have dinos again and more on the Knight aspect. #Ryusoulger |

The Blue Ranger's civilian identity have a blue hair and that's really remind me to Trip (Time Force Green Ranger).

The first preview for Super Sentai Great Battle aired tonight.
One of the opponents appears to be an armored purple knight, using the same sword as the Ryusoulgers. Could this be our first look at the teams' Sixth Ranger? https://twitter.com/Evilspacewhale/s...93669263396864 |

According to Toei's official page, the girl in blue is named Rita, the mysterious girl who is summoning rangers to planet Nemesis and have them partake in the Super Sentai Strongest Battle. She is played by Nana Asakawa. |

Meet "Gaizorg."

I'm really digging this guy a lot. Definitely feeling a Wolzard/GoseiKnight combo from him. I need an SHF of Gaizorg so much, just like how I need an SHF of Wolzard (come oooooooooooooon, Bandai, PLEASE).
|
Gaizorg will sound like the Mobilates.
|
Gaizorg? I guess they're starting to run out of names. The idea of his voice actor being the guy behind the Mobilates is interesting though. So is he going to be comically high-pitched or is the VA going the opposite route and make him sound like, i don't know, a typical Sentai boss?

oh my god tomokazu seki
you guys don't know how good of a va he is, he'll absolutely deliver with gaizorg no matter what voice he does. also i just want to note the lady in the sentai battle thing is named rita and has a magic staff that matches the color scheme of bandora  |
So the naming scheme math most likely is:
gai + kaizo + cyborg = Gaizorg Gai is the kan-on(kanji pronunciation) for yoroi, the Japanese word for armor. Kaizo is the Japanese word for modification/customization. |
Based on the design and motif, and how similar it reminds of Wolzard, I think they may have an interesting RyuSoul.
The photo of the back and shoulders really gives it this kind of interesting Wolzard meets Kamen Rider Knight aspect. Including how the shoulder armor and back have a lot of little "bat" references interwoven in, which is usually often used for a certain other European style mythological creature's dynamics too. Which adds to the theme choice. In Magi all the rangers had mythological creatures. Wolzard was a "Wolf Wizard". In this, all the Ryusoulgers are dinosaurs, and this one contrasts by being something else potentially. Alludes to a seemingly inverted Magi design dynamic on character essence. |
Hey look its a Wolzord possible rehash...
|
That name makes me think of a Geyser too. Like Geyser organization, and how they erupt like a volcano. probably unintentional but the pronunciation makes me wonder since they do have a habit of tongue in cheek hidden word plays. And it is the easiest way to reference a volcano for dinosaurs, without saying volcano.
Plus the added wordplay. Repeated erruption. Repeated interruption. Quote:

All Wolzard did was bring violet into the mix. |
Aha, so the connection goes
Loki > Wolzard > Gaizorg Loki and Wolzard were both wolf motifs, Wolzard and Gaizorg wear violet. :) |

I think Gaizorg's "dinosaur" is a mammoth.
|
It's official. The purple armored knight is GAISORG according to the scans. Gaisorg is a portmanteau of the Japanese word "gaiso" which means to equip armor, and cyborg.
|
KishiRyuOh’s design, especially now that we’ve seen clearer shots of the suit, suggests to me a particular consideration for ease of movement. I hope this means we’ll see some ambitious mecha action.
I’ll be sure to pick up all five rangers’ mechs but, if it turns out that the RyuSouls other than the main five have unique (or, at least, uniquely-painted) heads for KishiRyuOh, I might have to go all-in  |

And these are the villainous Druidon!
The muscular Tankjou and the trickster Kureon, plus a legion of their Dorun soldiers. |

Would like to point out a correction that the big bad guy's name is Tankjou according to the katakana writing on the scan. The name is most likely a portmanteau of tank and jou(the kanji pronunciation or kan-on for castle in Japanese), which makes sense cause he has a castle motif with a big cannon sticking out of his chest.
Creon is most likely a portmanteau of either creature and freon or creation and freon. Freon is the name used by some for what is Chlorofluorocarbon. And since Creon is the one that will be creating the monster of the week, if my assumptions are true, maybe Creon will be using some sort of spore or gas method to turn people into Mynasaurs. Probably explains why he looks like a distorted mushroom with limbs. And lastly my guess is that the word Mynasaur could be a portmanteau of minion, dyna-, and dinosaur. |

Tankjou is actually a good design! He looks like he has a castle motif to him, and is a virtual brute, but I have a hard time accepting him as the series "Big Bad"!
Creon doesn't interest me in the slightest. Kinda "meh"! The footsoldiers look to have a chess theme to them, and it reminds me of the chess-themed villains of the Shadow Line from ToQger! Turning humans into Monsters is a different approach, and begs a question: Will the humans survive when the "Monster Form" is "destroyed"? Will this be a mix between Kamen Rider W and Ultraman Cosmos, in which the villain is defeated and the innocent is technically saved (the "innocents" in W were criminals who were arrested afterwards, but still)? A Sentai that freely blows-up mutated humans will surely not work given the nature of Modern Sentai! |
