Oh, the way they said it I thought it was a real-life event or something
|
I was asking about Crimson Ranger in Hurri.
|
Finally recovered from toku burnout and I decided to check out King-Ohger.
All, I can say is, ALL OF MY YES. A full-blown fantasy with a unique visual identity and royal politics shenanigans? Bug Zords? A BOP-IT SWORD??? YES YES YES. I've definitely returned at the right time. I hope that King-Ohger can keep up the impressive quality it's displayed so far but my goodness is this a wonderful return to tokusatsu for me. |

Wonder what the King Ohger X DonBrothers crossover will be like in the future?
And hope the sixth ranger of King Ohger will be a revolutionary and not a king of some nation, but of the people. |
Quote:
But I'm belatedly ready to offer an alternative to the popular idea of a revolutionary. What if the 6th, in contrast to the kings, is a jester? Although the motif of the white spider is somehow not very conducive to humor, but since a conflict with the team is still expected, you can play with the image of a scary clown. |

Would King-Ohger tone be used in future Sentais ?

Would you have the sixth ranger of King Ohger come from Terra or our world?
|
I'm glad Sentai is making more experimental choices. Honestly, regardless of all the doomsaying about the series on the verge of cancellation (Which I'm glad has stopped lately), when you're approaching your 50th anniversary, I'm more surprised they haven't taken more risks.
Unless they were just too mortified to change things up and crash like Metal Heroes :lol |

If any show is considered the killer of the franchise, then this is Garo: Versus Road. To destroy such a promising and popular topic so quickly, you really need to be a genius in your own way. |
It's still a radical shift, though. The KR reboot was in the cards for years, but I guess it could be argued that, at that point, they already knew MH was going to be the franchise axed for Kuuga, so they might as well do something weird for their last installments.
Also, don't make it beetle themed :lol |

I only follow Garo very casually, I thought Versus Road was supposed to be the first to take the brand wherever, since they just wrapped up the Saejima family's involvement in the franchise in Moonbow Traveler about a month before Versus came out. If so, jeez. To have a franchise end on its very first step in a new direction, right after giving the mainline series a heartfelt sendoff too, that's... something. |
We could have a homage to the Showa seasons in the 50th anniversary ?
|
You know, with King-Ohger telling a coherent story so far - I wonder if and when the change to episodes like "A malevolent toilet monster that steals ice cream coupons has appeared and is ruining everyone's day" will happen.
Like, I'm not opposed to it. It's Super Sentai after all. But I wonder what the show will be like if it happens, or if it never happens at all. Or rather, if it only happens every so often but the ongoing story will still take center stage. |

Was Carranger as bad as Turbo? (I know Carranger brought Turbo to life but...)
|
Carranger is nothing like Turbo. It's a very different (and divisive) beast. Instead of a standard Sentai season, it acts as a parody of the standard Sentai (like if Akibaranger was official, made in the 90's, and was slightly more normal).
|
Well here's a random thought I have.
No matter how many times I try to watch a Sentai I : - Never finish watching it for whatever reason, I never finished Jetman and I don't remember finishing Zyuranger - I love Time Ranger and I think it's way better than Time Force - Apart from Time Ranger, I have trouble getting invested in the story or the characters of other Sentais. - I love Kamen Rider but I find Sentais to be too light in term of mood. - Most of the time I prefer the Power Rangers versions even though I know they are clearly inferior to the source material. Aaaand, that's all I think. |

I can advise you to try to watch the Livemen. They have a fairly serious tone, and yet they do not go into the sometimes excessive drama of the Jetmen. |

The katsodon bit is in Mega VS Car btw. Looking forward to the review. :lolol |
You made me want to watch Carrangers too. o_O
I will try Livemen also. |
Quote:
Liveman is worth it. Last Showa sentai, first female blue ranger, Kamen Rider Ghost's dad is in it, Joji Nakata is the big baddy, Kikaider is their mentor, first time a black ranger and green ranger were regulars together, the show that Hurricanger borrowed from, and that's about it I guess. Oh and moonwalking female robot. :lolol |

I will agree though that Liveman was the animal team to fully commit from their suits to their mecha. |

God I miss Soga. She was a godsend to tokusatsu. Loved her in Spielvan. |

If you created a ninja Sentai, would you combine ninjas with animals/yokai & fruits?
Fruit Ninja with a touch of TMNT! |
Quote:
Were there known instances of ninja using fruits, be it in historical documentation or in popular fiction? Same with Youkai. The scientific relationship between various fruits and animals most assuredly has documentation and is definitely worth exploring. |
