For those who own the DX, out of curiosity are there any special sounds for combos without the main form book? Example, sounds for Storm Eagle + Saiyuu Journey, Tenkuu no Pegasus + Peter Fantasista and Tri-Cerberus + Needle Hedgehog? Any special jingles or is it just "Wonder Rider"?

No, there’s no special jingles.

It’s basically an evolution of what they’ve been doing for years.

This isn't necessarily true, though. The biggest problem with the gimmick figures we've been getting for the past few years is that they were getting more expensive, yet losing articulation for the sake of replicating dumb gimmicks. RKF Hybrid Rise Zero-One was an absolute disaster. The RKF Ride Armors sacrificed all of the articulation that makes this line decent. Build's gimmick line didn't have head articulation on a single figure, yet retailed for around 30 USD per release. Ex-Aid's line had all these ports and holes all over the figures that ended up being useless because their articulation was hindered as soon as you slapped on any attachments.

They've finally fucking nailed it with RKF Dragonic Knight. It's a shame we won't get anything like this for the other Saber Riders, but still, this really is spectacular. RKF has so much potential to be more than just its motto, "it's cheap and it moves". I hope we get something like this in the second quarter.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. RKFs are still getting cheaper by the day. They don't even sell RKFs at full price anymore; whether you pre-order them or buy them day 1, they're still discounted. Hell, Dragonic Knight isn't even officially out yet, and you can only buy that for 10 bucks off. They only go down from here, save for a few exceptions.

I literally just bought a brand new RKF Calibur from Amazon JP for 14 bucks off, and it came out less than 2 weeks ago. Aside from Calibur, I paid less than 15 USD for all of Saber's RKF releases thus far.

Saikou looks...awesome. The RKF release is going to be unbelievably easy to make since he's almost entirely black. I hope the sword will have more details and paint than usual.

Saikou's toy is out! Also, it appears, from what I hear, if you put Saikou into the swordriver and pull it out, it plays Espada's jingle. Very interesting.

Actually, it seems the reviewer who posted that had it set to Ikazuchi when he did the review. I guess he forgot about the secondary gimmick.

Boy...for someone who has recently become obsessed with RKF again, that's actually threatening news. I can understand, though. The fact that prices on these figures drop SO unbelievably fast can only mean that this line isn't really sustainable...

I really wish them the best. The biggest problem with the death of the RKF line would be the fact that no other action figures are the same scale. That, and we would likely go back to having shitty, overpriced figures with dumb gimmicks that are more intrusive than anything else. Oh yeah, and those silly hands with the articulated fingers.

I guess we won't be seeing Legend Riders back anytime soon, if things look this way. What a shame.

They honestly did this to themselves with that weird scale, which was a shame since, like already mentioned, Dragonic Knight's form change was really good.

In my opinion. the previous gimmick line from W to Ex-Aid is really good.
The Build BCR (Bottle Change Rider) series is quite boring because most of them didn't have head articulations.

RKF is really cool especially if they produce more past Riders in RKF toyline. I really want some of RKF like Ghost, OOO, Blade, and Agito.

I liked the previous gimmick figure lines. They didn't have as much articulation but ones like Drive, Ex-Aid and Wizard were pretty great

I hope atleast the first decade of reiwa stay with RKFs, but i think its gonna be hard to happen. It was just the 2nd season of reiwa afterall.

The scale is confusing, its true. But personallY RKFs size is the best for me. Not to big, not that small, and except for grease, not as fragile as So Do

I'm not just talking about quality; you have to think about price as well because this is the budget line. The previous gimmick lines were upwards of 3100 yen for each figure(some, like Ex-Aid, were as high as 3800 because they needed to replicate the Level 1 to Level 2 gimmick). Even older gimmick lines like W, still retailed for around 2500 yen, which was long before inflation really felt significant and you were still paying around 3500 yen for Tamashii Web Exclusive SH Figuarts. The "budget" lines were not really cheap, ESPECIALLY compared to RKF today.

I'd love to fully agree with this, as someone who collects a lot of 1/12 scale figures, but personally, I'd take this tradeoff any day because the unique scale is a big reason that RKF is so cheap. Given that the older gimmick line figures were as high as 3000-4000 yen, I honestly cannot find a reason to really complain when I could buy as much as 3 RKFs for the same price range, depending on the figures.

I loved them, myself. Like I said above, though, it's not just about whether we liked them or not, you have to weigh options here. They were really spectacular sometimes and the gimmicks were usually well-integrated, but they were absolutely not cheap. 3000-4000 yen(the average price range for almost every gimmick line) is really not efficient at all for a budget line, even if you factor in all the Kamen Riders that they skip(which sadly, is a lot).

This especially holds true when certain gimmick releases just don't really have enough of a gimmick to warrant such high price tags. It just becomes a waste of plastic at times. For example, I'm really pleased that I can grab RKF Hyper Muteki+Maximum Mighty X for a grand total of less than 3000 yen, whereas the LVUR release would be almost double that price.

A line being discontinued before it can have a sense of completeness (however you want to determine complete, but for me it is the era) is among my biggest fear when collecting a line.

SO-DO is doing well, RKF is doing just okay, but you never know when a line will just cease. Converge figures are going strong on 10 years and that's why they are my favorite to collect.

We've basically been told the Figure-Rise model kits will complete the Heisei main riders and we already have 10/20 so now I'm all in on those.

New set for the 1/12 rider items set thing seems to be the two Woz books, a Helheim fruit (don't eat it!), and the W driver and its briefcase. The 4th one being hidden, but since Saber is present I suspect it being Nagare or Kurayami.

Made me think that a RKF Saikou would be the cheapest way to obtain a "Kamen Rider Saikou" in your SHF Shelf. Just grab the sword and put it in your Saber and you're good to go.

Saikou Shadow has hinges on its chest and shoulders so there's definitely a gimmick there.

I don't think the hinge will actually have anything to do with the gimmick(that's not how RKF figures really work lol). The hinge is likely on the the shadow because Saikou himself has it.
What I had in mind is the figure will swap out parts and limbs, much like RKF Saber Dragonic Knight.

Honestly, Dragonic Knight and King Lion Daisenki are probably some of my favorite RKF releases of all time. The gimmicks are just so simple and not intrusive at all...this is how the line should've been from the beginning.
I know this doesn't really answer your question, but personally, I like to display villains from Marvel Legends next to RKF stuff. Since Marvel Legends figures tend to be slightly big, even for 1/12 scale figures, the villains/monsters from that line seem MUCH scarier and more threatening next to RKF.

The latest RKF blog post revealed that we won't officially see more info on RKF Saikou until February 1st. That's going to be over a month after he made his debut in the show. I wonder what the holdup is. I'm hoping it's some kind of unrevealed gimmick. On the bright side, we finally have a sort of decent picture of it.
