Mecha lineup teaser-

Looking at the toys this seems like a major downgrade. I don't really follow the Sentai toylines, but I thought Bandai had started adding joints to the mechs with DonBrothers. These guys look much more like the old bricks that were lucky to have more than two joints.

Yeah, I don't think it's gonna be super articulate. I love the designs and aesthetics but it seems they are pulling back for whatever reason.

I like the unique ways the heads get integrated for the extra configurations.

But man, those arms totally could've had an actual elbow joint, and just don't for whatever reason.

Boon Red: Mori Hirotsugu (Tombo-Ohger, Sonoi, Kamen Rider Blades)
Boon Blue: Yoneoka Takahiro (Gorma Rosalia, Don Murasame)

I dunno, byunbyun is an onomatopoeia used to describe flying in the air, so I assume Violet is going to be an aircraft-themed ranger.

The word byunbyun and the whole mach stuff still has me convinced we'll likely be getting an airplane if it's legit, but at the same time I suppose there is still a possibility for maybe dragsters, motorcycles, and buggies.

Given the events of the King-Ohger, I return to my question from last year: “Is it time to introduce the term Seventh Ranger?”

Otomonin Byunmaru and Machine Zabyuun are both trains though.

While this concept works perfectly for King-Ohger, it's difficult to apply that to Sentai with more than 1 Ranger outside the Core+Sixth group. Like Tertiary Riders, people will disagree about who deserves the accolade of Seventh Ranger.

I wonder if it'll attach to the main Mecha and let it fly when they inevitably combine the two together.

If it turns out to be a plane I suppose that is the case. Or maybe they can go Ryusoulger with it where Boontrailer, that, and another big one that releases after summer combine to form the ultimate mecha of the show.

We have official romanizations for the individual Boonboomgers and they're not what most of us thought they'd be.

I would not trust official romanizations from toei/bandai at all. Unless we forget Kamen Rider Gord Drive exists.

Do we have like any image/idea of how the story/plot for Boonboomger will be like? I recall someone posting a rumor about the story before but I forgot where it was lol. All I remember was that the story will be more geared towards kids?

I believe that most people just use whatever romanizations they feel comfortable with anyway, regardless of what Toei uses. There's basically no wrong answer, as long as it's phonetically accurate.

BTW, Gol/rd Drive is technically a pseudo Rider.

I can't figure out whether it would cause head-explosions for people who groove on categorization. The closest framework for OhKuwagata Ohger would be... what? Rio and Mele? Characters introduced in the first episode, largely antagonistic for most of the series, then very clearly part of the team for at least a nanosecond thereafter. (Having said that, I haven't seen this week's King-Ohger episode, but that seems like the direction the show is heading in.)

I mean, "Sixth Ranger/Senshi" is a trope, isn't it? Something like "character introduced later in the series specifically to change group dynamics/sell new toys and do a different take on the team's overall theme/design." They're regular cast members, and usually, the opening sequence of the show is updated to integrate them. Every other type of additional Senshi gets grouped under "Extra Ranger."

Looking at it from a trope perspective, I think it'd make sense to say that some series (obviously Go-Onger, but others, as well) have had more than one Sixth Ranger. Numerically, Gekiviolet and Gekichopper were the fourth and fifth team members, but trope-wise, they were both classic Sixth Rangers for trope purposes. Kyuranger had no fewer than three Sixth Heroes.

How we'll categorize Boon/Bun/Boom Black and Orange will probably depend on the show's first opening credits. Since they're in all the pre-advertising for the series, it's pretty clear they're intended to be core cast members. I find it interesting that they've got a significant uniform variation, but then again, Kyuranger and Lupinranger vs. Patoranger kind of opened the barn doors on that particular element of the trope.

It's like how Go-On Green and Black have their own changers.

Oh yeah, we're definitely risking a certain group of people getting offended by these suggestions. I get the impression that we've had similar experiences, so for the sake of constructive healthy debate, I'll admit once more that Mesnick does have a fair point. Like, for example, Espada is more important than Durandal and in the same way, Stacaesar is more important than Hakaizer.

However, unlike Secondaries and Sixths (usually) who are clear in the way they're marketed, there are often multiple Riders and Rangers per season who could claim the title of Tertiary and Seventh. I mean, Sentai doesn't even have the helpful Oronamin C commercial! So I think the only way this can work consistently is if each season grants at least 2 vacancies for those positions, likely more for Sevenths to include the full Noto trio.

I'd personally argue that Geki Violet is more like a Big One type, as his mecha is only another right leg, while Chopper gets a giant carrier Henkei mecha. Regarding Kyuranger, Kamiya Hiroshi mentioned that the logic behind Phoenix Soldier is that he's the 12th member, which is 6x2, implying that Draco and Ursa are also like Black Bison and Green Sai.

I mean, with Lupinranger VS Patranger, there's an actual reason why those Sentai look different, since they are different Sentai. There's only one Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger anyway.

I was doubtful when Bun Black and Orange were absent from the first poster, but then they've been in pretty much everything else since, so yeah, I think this is an apt comparison, rather than Black Bison and Green Sai who joined Liveman much later than the first core 3.

You know, I'm surprised the super sentai sausage commercials were never brought up as much like the Oronamin C and Kamen Rider Gummi commercials. But then again, they don't seem to go over the top in general with their commercials or are memorable, so I guess there's that.

Orange: Genba Bureki

The Space Mafia Hashiriyan are (romanization not confirmed):
Dekotorade (Dekotora, the plated fancy custom trucks in Japan)
Itaasha (Itasha, the cars mostly known for anime graphics wrappings in Japan)
Yaiyai Yarucar (Yaiyai is probably the Japanese expression close to "Hey hey" Yarucar is a play on "Yaruka" which is along the lines of "you wanna fight" or "you want a piece of me?" for a lack of comparison, mostly used by delinquents in Japan)


So Taiya has some style, Ishiro seems like a ToQ4 with ToQ2 clothes, Mira is Ryusoul Pink 2.0, Jou is the bumbling good cop, and Genba must be the too cool for school kid.

According to official sources, Taiya is a genius at customizing things who runs a courier business, Ishiro is a spy by trade, Mira is a good driver who has done many part-time jobs, Jou is a police officer who dreams of becoming a hero, Genba is a deliveryman it seems.
