The helmet makes it look like a rabbit.
|
I LOVE the colors. Reminds me of how the exhaust pipes on the Boost half of Geats had that burnt look to them.
|
You know what would make it even more crazy?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO5dwdhLTCg If we get him to play Gavv or at least a cameo. :lolol Quote:

Behold the Henshin Belt Gavv; fueled by Poppin Gummy!
|
Kinda digging it but I'm going to need to see the actual suit in action before I make up my mind.
|
Oof. That's even worse than Ex-Aid. (Loved the show, hated the aesthetic.) It's like they took the Kiva design, then said, "How can we make this look bad...?"
Fingers crossed that the Gaim principle kicks in, so the ridiculousness of the premise/gimmick means we're going to get a better-than-usual story... (Tee hee! The colors are going to give the Figuarts and SoDo design people nightmares.) |
The Rider is powered by a gummy. Peak fiction already.
|
Suit is not bad, the "Despicable Me"-belt with the Minion-trinket is awful though. Hopefully it only sounds half as bad as I imagine it will.
But man, the prospect of Gotchard ending fills me with joy. Soon! |
As others on other sites have pointed out, the belt is not called a "Driver" so perhaps it's supposed to be a toy companion to the Rider like Hopper1.
I assume the Crank on the side means the belt will sorta work like the Build Driver but with just one trinket. As for the Rider suit itself, I like the colors and gradient effect on the armor. Hopefully it all looks good in motion. I'm also kinda glad that this is the first time in Reiwa that Toei didn't have the Rider's motif be: Animal + Something |
Something I noticed: The Poppin Gummy's eye-changing effect works by having the eyes be holes in the top part, and when it's closed, the red "eyes" are actually the tongue showing through! (I can tell because the colors and the little shine dots both match.) Kudos to the designer who came up with that, it's pretty clever and I hope the other gummies will have similar tricks.
|
Whether it's a form or a different rider, not having a wagashi-themed rider or form would be such a waste for this show.

Can't believe that takebe's returning. Then again, gavv took some cue's from kiva's designs
Anyway, the tv asahi website hasn't revealed the main writer. I'm betting on either takahashi or yokote, but hopefully arakawa (and maybe takegami even't though he's going to be 70 next year and might've been retiring) |
One thing I notice from the poster is: no one else but him/her (idk what Gavv gender will be lol). No other rider(s), no villain(s), no ally(ies), etc. Interesting. Maybe it will be a one rider show after so many riders being present in Reiwa series (esp. Saber and Geats)? Maybe he is a lone wolf type-a thing?
|
Everyone talks about Kiva, but I definitely see Hibiki in him. And not only because of the color, but also because of the much more flexible, thin seal (although the frame may be to blame). Also, it is now obvious that the authors of the leaks were familiar with the concept art, but did not see the original costume. The belt is much less noticeable and I didn’t even immediately realize that this was not a Gotchard driver repainted red. And just look how small the teeth are compared to plums.

I'm curious as to how the figuarts for Gavv will turn out. Expecting something similar to Cross-Z Charge. As for the tone, I can't help but think it could be close to Geats or Ex-Aid.
|
if the story in terms of tone is close to gaim, ex aid or even geats I'm down for it
bur first we need to see who is writing |
Not the best Reiwa suit ever, but not the worst either. Nevertheless, we finally have our second purple Primary, so that's cool. With the biting motif, I was expecting the helmet to look more like Revi with big sharp teeth. At least, I was expecting Gavv to look a lot more dangerous and intimidating like the one from the rumor. Not sure about the giant orange foot or the weird-looking Gochizou thing though.

The Driver, however, looks ugly. This could be the ugliest-looking Driver/buckle since Build Driver and Seiken Swordriver. It even has a similar crank lever like the one on Build Driver. The yellow teeth are the ugliest part. The pink part right under the Poppin Gummy trinket is actually a tongue. Perhaps that's where the "nutrients" from the Poppin Gummy trinket are absorbed by the Driver. The Driver looks like a creature, and it's munching another creature (the trinket)? So, the leaked photo several weeks ago was actually 80-85% accurate. It was probably an early design draft. And is Henshin Belt Gavv the actual name of the Driver, not a tentative name? It's a very generic-sounding name. I prefer a goofy-sounding name like Chompdriver or Munchdriver, haha. My 4 year-old self imagined what a KR with food motif would've looked like. Here it is, 20 years later. Power-wise, I think KR Gavv's base form will be similar to KR Gotchard Steamhopper form, where the bouncy, gummy-based power will grant KR Gavv with speed, flexibility and superior jump height. The finisher could be a new variant of Rider Kick where KR Gavv initially do a regular Rider Kick, and then rebound (due to the bouncy gummy power), and then the right leg (the giant orange boot) opens and forms giant jaws that munch the enemy several times until it's completely pulverized. It'd make a cool-looking Rider Kick. All main staff members have been revealed, with the exception of the writers. KR Gotchard's first look was revealed in the last week of June, teaser video and main staff members (including writers) were revealed in the third week of July, and press conference was held in the first week of August. I think KR Gavv's writers will likely be revealed on the same day with the teaser video. I've got a feeling that the main writer (or maybe even the writer) of this show could be a famous/star writer. The producers seem like deliberately delaying the reveal to build up hype and momentum. I'm crossing all fingers on my hands and feet that the writer would be Gen frakkin' Urobuchi. My outlandish speculation (not hypothesis): The Poppin Gummy trinket and other Rider Candies(?)/Sweets(?)/Snacks(?) are containers that store the souls of demons (Gochizu) that have the powers to possess humans and corrupt their souls. Or maybe they're gods? Gummy = Kami/gods(?). |
I wonder if this is going to be one of those "premise and gimmick are really goofy but the show gets surprisingly serious" things.

Does anyone feel Gavv could have some vibes of Kiva somewhere with the "biting"?
And the fun stuff from candies.... perhaps Ex-Aid? |

we will need to know who the writer or writers are before anything

First wave rumors!
*In addition to the Poppin Gummy (presumably his main form) Gavv uses the "FuwaMallow, GuruKyan and CaKing items." *Special form ZakuZakuChips has a weapon, the ChipSlasher. *Secondary rider is "Kamen Rider Valen" using the "Chocodon." Supposedly chocolate-themed. |
Very tasty news!

Higher resolution photo of the Henshin Belt Gavv from Bandai KR Toy's Twitter account:
https://i.imgur.com/TkvF8ob.jpg source: https://x.com/bandai_ridertoy/status...80019482579138 The name of the trinkets is Rider Gochizou, and Poppin Gummy is the name of the one used for the base form. Gochizous are likely sentient creatures like the Chemies, and similarly, the Rider Gochizous are trinkets that function as containers like the Ride Chemy Cards do. Although, I think the Gochizous are likely more similar to Minions than Chemies. If the Gochizous do behave like Chemies, have their own unique personalities, and play an important role in the stories as active characters, then Gavv could be Gotchard v2.0. I think the belt uses the pin system like the Drive Shift Brace, Build Driver, Ziku Driver, Desire Driver, etc to read each RG. The reader is located at the pink tongue part, and the pins on each RG is at its bottom. The crank lever will move the top jaw (which moves on a hinge or pistons) which then presses the RG. The hands on each RG are on a pop out, spring-loaded mechanism hidden behind its mouth. I'm not sure how the upgrade path will look like. Perhaps upgrade/super/final forms will use RG's that have side attachment ports that allow the use of more than 2 RG's. The top jaw part is likely removable as well. Enhanced photo of the KR Gavv Ride Chemy Card from Toei Hero Movie's Twitter account: https://i.imgur.com/KFrYMxQ.jpg source: https://x.com/toeiHERO_movie/status/1807579888251195728 My Lord in heaven, the Rider Gochizous look like a full-color assault on my eyes, haha. The round, chubby font is obviously used for the maximum kawaiiness effect, but in this case it makes it really hard for me to read the name on each RG. The combination of the colorful faces and multi-colored letters are so painfully colorful, and the identical faces make the RG's look very generic and same-y. It's hard for me to tell which one is Poppin Gummy, which one is Kickin Gummy, which one is Punchin Gummy(?), etc. The worst part is that the RG's don't even reflect the colors on the KR Gavv's armors (purple, yellow, and cyan). There's nothing that visually connects KR Gavv's armors and the main RG being used (Poppin Gummy), be it shape-wise nor color-wise. It's kinda fine if this visual disconnection is applied to minor/accessory/complementary(?) RG's such as Kickin Gummy and Punchin Gummy(?) (which I think will be used for different type of attacks, similar to KR Drive's accessory Shift Cars), but at least the Poppin Gummy RG should have visual connection with KR Gavv's armors. The RG's don't give off any special/stand out vibes/characteristics to me. They look virtually like identical copies of each other, only palette-swapped, with slightly different names, and with different shape of hands. I think this is a bad design choice. If everything is colorful, then nothing is colorful. Or maybe they're deliberately made to look generic because they're inspired by Minions? Who knows. Haha. Bonus spoiler: KR Miracle Gotchard will transform with the Hopper 101 and Gigantliner RCC's. |
You know, I've been thinking about Gavv for a few days now I'm just kind of shocked they were allowed to make a junk food themed Rider. Seems like the exact kind of thing parents would hate!

Will Gavv?s story have some Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory vibe with all the sweets motifs?
|
The Gavv suit looks great, but boy, everything about the food/candy/belt gimmick is incredibly lame.

Considering that I dream of the return of live assistants such as disc animals in Hibiki, I will only be glad if the trend for live gimmicks continues. Yes, it's not the same, but it's also not bad. Looks like Gotchard sets trends ;)

Congrats on your 2000th post! |
I'm thankful for the better look, and I think they look harmless enough. I like the fact that their eyes also change when they're folded in, but I do think they could have been a little more distinct from each other. Hopefully they'll stand apart more in the show with differering personalities. I do wonder if all will be like that mind.

Yeah the fact the only thing that doesn't make them look the same is the arms and color, I just don't understand why maybe the orange and blue one are simple side arms or something |
