Well if Power turns out alright I may have hope for Sky Type after all. Maybe even a reissue/correction of Multi.

Sucks that Multi Type had to be the guinea pig, but good thing they realized their errors and will hopefully have learned from them.

Gotta wonder how they'll handle Black and Shadow Moon though.

Though hopefully they'll also be able to prevent the same issues on RX and the RX version of Shadow Moon.

Also Power Type went up for preorder and sold out. It's fine, I didn't want him. But it's interesting that it's actually a (mostly) new mold, they didn't have to do that, but it's cool that they did.

This just tells me to hold off on buying Multi Type for a while.

SHF Upgrade seems to be developing a more durable rubber part for Tiga. Depending on how it costs, I should probably use it as an opportunity as my first go for SHF Upgrade along with some other things I might want. Was hoping for them to make a plastic shell, even if it hinders articulation, but ah well. My Tiga has seen... better days.

Not really. These designs at their core are not new. For a while Tsubaraya has been trying to gain greater prominence in the chinese market. To this end they've been trying to create products that cater to chinese ideas and sensibilities. They started off i think about a year or so ago to increase their presence by releasing Bandai Entry Grade Ultra kits under the "Ultraman Armor of Legends" line with Ultra kitted out in armor inspired by Chinese mythology. They had Wukong Zero, Zhao Yun Tiga, Nezha Ginga, and LuBu Belial. They had a bunch of art and other material released in chinese markets with these designs. Considering this event is in Shanghai, doesn't suprise me that these designs are now being translated to shf, probably as china exclusives.

Dont get me wrong, Ultra is big in China. Tsubaraya has just been pushing for more prominence in that market since their economic growth makes them a big market for profit.

Can they still market to China when they just banned Ultraman there?

Is the event happening there right now not enough evidence for that?

And as far as I know they removed Ultraman Tiga from local streaming services, they didn't ban the franchise.

They should start selling effect pieces again and consider selling dioramas even if broken up in sections because the amount of details and efforts they put into those displays is top notch

Gah, the Saber line has been very special to me lately. After Brave Dragon, it continues to impress me. I want to say Jaou makes toku-related figure of the year, but he's tied to Saikou because he's a bit fiddly and top heavy to actually play around with.

Something to note is that the gold shoulder armor is hooked onto the chest via a soft-plastic-balljoint-hinge-something. I think the same kind of plastic that Saber uses for his waist coat, so durability on it is questionable, but I suppose it was made like that so the arm can move at all because you have to do some camera tricks to actually look like he has his arms all the way out because he can't.

Sexy-looking though, now I kinda wanna get Espada even more so.

Yeah, oh well. I wouldn't know how they would tackle doing the shoulder armor without putting it on the arm and making it look weird either, so I guess this is fine.

Either way, if it does break, I guess I can just do TARAI_YOU's shoulder armor mod anyway.

If i would get any saber figuarts, it would be Jaou Dragon and X-Swordsman. One is supremely cool and the other is amazingly flashy, and of course having light and dark themed swordsmans side by side or clashing just feels right.

Just occurred to me that SHF Barid Rex will most liely include the Egg Shield for Vice, and knowing how unpopular Vice is with some people maybe some collectors will just give the Egg Shield to Revi instead.

Considering the toy leaks, something different is likely to happen instead

To be honest, I personally prefer Vice design than Revi design especially because Vice has a black colour and animal head helmet.

Out of curiosity, how 'playable' are SH Figuarts? I want to get one once Japan allows SAL or EMS shipping to Australia again but I'm starting to have second thoughts. I'm currently under the impression that they're kind of fragile and not something you can just pick up and casually fiddle with. Are Figuarts more for display purposes?

I.. thought everyone was as hopelessly addicted to Rider vinyl madness as myself..no, seriously, they are AWESOME SAUCE with a side of chips, a few Figuarts have QC issues(looking at y’all expensive SS broken elbow joints) they have a good amount of playability and the Bikes/Vehicles make it all come together, currently at 445 of these myself, since I started collecting these in 2017,but I understand Australia is hella expensive when it comes to shipping

As long as you don't go crazy with them (and don't get certain Seihous...) you should be good. The good news for you too is that Ex-Aid and Gaim SHFs tend to go for good prices on the secondhand market compared to most, and they're all generally good

Honestly, the Shinkocchou Seihou are all FINE. Very few have really any QC issues that I can remember, except the tight joints(which is kinda to be expected on any new figure) which is mostly remedied by hot water/blowdryer heat to loosen joint, and yes, I do this to ALL my figures, since an expensive incident in the 90’s when my eldest kid broke some Godzilla figures, and it’s perfectly OKAY to go crazy with them, the more Riders the merrier!

No you definitely can (and should) do that, they're made to be fiddled with, but with adults as their target audience. Meaning there are fragile parts and sharp edges involved which are not suitable for kids.

Just be mindful that you are handling a somewhat delicate figure and not one of your old childhood toys and you will be fine.

Honestly speaking, I've bought a lot of Figuarts in the last 7 years and had one single breakage, and that was my fault for forcing a joint instead of being gentle. I've had much more issues with stuff from Hasbro or Mattel and the likes.

I can pick my Figuarts off the shelf and pose them around anytime, for how long some are with me now (bought the first ones in Summer 2014) they held up beautifully.

I would look at RKF for a more traditional figure you can fiddle with. Figuarts are highly posable and pretty solid, but they definitely seem more like display pieces. The more intricate armors are more prone to breakage and some have super tiny pieces- particularly the gimmick items, which can get lost very easily.

I have been collecting Figuarts for over 3 years, and likely have over 50 (or used to before I purged my collection a bit) and in that time I've had 3 breakages.

-Cronus, who fell off a shelf and snapped a horn
-Jedi Luke Skywalker, who was the second releases and had a known defective wrist
-Cell Saga Gohan who's wrist was just a complete fluke

I'm not rough with my figures, but I do fiddle and pose them a lot, and have never really had an issue.

Just got my Kiva Emperor in today and he is so gorgeous! He's so shiny.

The sword parts are a bit finicky, but that's my only one issue with him. Plus his cape isn't split like my Dark Kiva's lol!

Has me all the more excited to finally, finally get Saga.. presumably next year. And my Kiva collection will at last feel complete.. (of course I'd buy a Seihou IXA Rising but eh at least we have a version of that already.)
