The fabled Zyu2 footage isn't as fabled as it once was, thanks to some generous footage leaks. We now have a better understanding of what Season 2 excised when editing in the Thunder Megazord while cutting (Dino) Megazord/Daizyujin. However, I thought of something with those footage reveals. As we see with Turbanshell as he battles the Tyrannosaurus, he makes an obvious "F-U" gesture with his claws in Clip 72 of the Turbanshell footage set! Not surprisingly, Season 2 cut the scene just before he motions in that manner.
Did the Zyu2 deal give no restrictions to Toei regarding the filming? Did Toei not see the move as potentially controversial? Did Toei intentionally film that gesture with the knowledge that it would be cut, intending the move to be direct criticism not toward the Tyrannosaurus but toward Saban and his people, with Turbanshell essentially acting as Toei's "representative" in that moment!? https://www.grnrngr.com/zyu2/monsters/turbanshell |
As far as I’m aware, that gesture isn’t as offensive in Japan as it is in America. Heck, America is the one place it is offensive.

And it's so specific it's easily something they wouldn't know about. Makes enough sense to me

Has there ever been an actor/ actress of Japanese descent to have played a Ranger?

The Retro Style MOTU figures are everywhere now, but not something I think too much about... until I saw what was shown in the included photo!
How did Mighty Morphin' Season 3 get away with using the same name!? Did the MOTU trademark go lax in the '90s? Have the rights to that name been renewed by MOTU trademark, preventing the name from being used by Hasbro even if they wanted to? |
Masters of the Universe was pretty dead during the 90's, and a look at the box of the 90's Ninjor zord indicates either Saban or Bandai help the copyright. There's always the chance that MOTU never bothered trademarking the original name - Transformers was much the same during the 90's, and it's why there were often "close enough" names during the 2000's until they reclaimed most of the ones people cared about because other companies let them drop.
EDIT - I've checked for more recent uses, and as of the nw Playskool Heroes line, Ninjor is being usd without a Trademark, prsumably because Mattel and/or MOTU pickd it back up after Power Rangers stopped caring about it! https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/tLEAA...OQv/s-l640.jpg https://pwrrngr.com/wp-content/uploa..._Ninjor_01.jpg |
How good was the Super Nintendo Zeo Battle Racers cart? I found a spot which has a copy, but I would like a feel for what it's like before I commit.

I was watching
Boy Meets World Saved By The Bell Sister Sister all 3 on DVD which had a screen ratio of 1:33:1. I buy 90s shows on DVD. Was this the case for MMPR - RPM from Shout Factory who had gotten Saved By The Bell? The old 90s shows on TV had black bars on the side. This too was the case when I watched Sabrina The Teenaged Witch for one slot and Family Matters (1 episode) on Hulu. Black bars on the side. |

Much of this is pretty much common knowledge for most of us, but recitation isn't necessarily a bad thing either.

Two In Space Questions:
- Why did they decide to include the Jetman Jet Striker as Zhane's Galactic Rover? Was it ultimately just an Easter Egg/In Joke amongst the crew? - Turning Megaranger's Grand Neziros into a Humvee Monster is an odd choice, until you realize that it sorta echos one of Spielberg's first movies, Duel, with Dennis Hopper. Basically, truck pursues a guy and you never know who's doing it or precisely why. Since we never see Tankenstein's driver and don't initially know why a Humvee is giving chase, I'm curious who's idea this was and if Duel was direct inspiration for it? |
Was it the Jet Striker? I thought it was just a generic desert buggy.
Regardless of if it was or wasn't, because toys. Package a $5 ranger toy with the buggy and sell the set for some good profit |

https://i0.wp.com/ranger-retrocenter...ng?w=800&ssl=1 While there are several small differences, those can easily be changed, but the biggest give away is the size. Look how small the seating is for Red Hawk compared to Silver. It was also used for Lightspeed Rescue's Vypari, so it's more likely it was made for PR and they just held onto it. Toywise, it's likely they just copied the Jet Striker, though. |

Top 20 Power Rangers Scandals WatchMojo Sorry it's not an embedded video. I was familiar with many details, but not all of them. Issues involving Dan Ewing and Michael Taber's complaints are new to me. Patricia Ja Lee and Andrew Laing certainly did not deserve the treatment they received. Regarding S.P.D., I don't care about someone's career decisions. I knew that weapons were controversial by Season 3, but I figured the Tower Formation would've been acceptable. What do you think? |
An idea came to my mind. The Power Rangers promise to return with new costumes, right? But what if the adaptations are not original, but made in the style of Cosmic Fury? Now I’ll explain what I mean using the example of a possible adaptation of Donbrothers.
The Power Rangers take the signature Donbrothers helmets (they make a new one for Inu Brother, but it looks the same), and create original costumes, avoiding all the weirdness of this show. You can also unscrew Don Momotaro's bun, but this is not important. Thus, the ground combat is completely original. As for the furs, there will be no new material with them, in the interests of economy, but the old one will undergo serious alterations. |

Always heard the "Saban finds Sentai while flipping channels in a Japanese Hotel Room" story, and how he wanted to port it over for years before he eventually succeeded in making a deal with Toei. Nothing new there.
What is shocking is how close he may have gotten back in the '80s or early '90s, cause there apparently is an all-but-lost "Bio-Man" Version! Many of the names are similar to the inevitable Mighty Morphin' characters, and there's also a mock-up of Peebo in new footage. https://morphinlegacy.com/power-rang...rs-multiverse/ I already knew that the editors snuck in some Bioman footage on the Viewscreen in the original Pre-Thuy Trang Pilot, indicating that Bioman was probably the original intent and may very well have been what Saban originally saw. https://sirstack.db-destiny.net/morphylogeny/100.htm What I didn't realize is that original footage with hired actors got as far as it did (even if the theoretical pilot wasn't picked up). Wouldn't mind learning a little more about the lost "Bio-Man". |

P.S.: If this is a Pre-Mighty Morphin' Pilot, why is there a "Billy Cranston" at all!? Wasn't the surname added to Billy after Bryan Cranston did some VO work in Season 1 as Snizzard and Twin Man? |

As for the Cranston thing, that's what I thought too. Maybe they happened to have it as Cranston but when Bryan Cranston became a part of the show they decided to make it official thinking what a coincidence. |

Continuing with the Pre-P.R. discussion, but straying from the "Bio-Man" oddity this time, I saw something interesting that MIGHT relate to Rita and Zedd's favorite minion.
One of the undeveloped toy lines of the '80s was known in development as the "Mysterians". There's a somewhat complex relationship with Transformers and Marvel which might suggest that some of the '84 Minicars originated not from Takara, but from Knickerbocker in the U.S.! The reason I bring it up is because the initial toys and the kinda sorta good guys were going to be called "Tinkar, Seekar, and....GOLDAR"! https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Mysterians This could be a cosmic coincidence, but the industry being what it is makes that less than likely. This isn't the first time a parallel of this nature has happened between P.R. and another franchise. The name "Ninjor" was used for "Masters of the Universe". It's possible, but not definite, that because Mysterians failed, then the trademark went lax and someone who had prior knowledge of the franchise swooped in and swiped the name up. The irony, of course, is how the P.R. Goldar was originally called "Dredwing" in the pilot... and that too is one letter off from being a Transformers reference! https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Dreadwing_(G1) I can't conclusively say with any certainty that the "Goldar" of the Mysterians line was the basis for the inevitable and iconic Mighty Morphin' Villain, but it would be an interesting tidbit to say the least if true. |
Are there any good Power Rangers games that aren't just fighting games? A story-based adventure would be cool
|
The upcoming Rita's Rewind is looking to be a pretty good beat'em up.
Otherwise, no. |

Though I hope they have updates to where you can play as other ranger groups and changing the battleground of fights. - Like In Space actually is, in space - LightSpeed defending Mariner bay - Ninja Storm stopping the academy invasion Because if they don't I bet a rom hack for it comes out, it's style is nice. Surprised they didn't go bright colors, or maybe I'm influenced by how vibrant Shredders Revenge for TMNT is. |

Unfortunately, the franchise that lives on a shoe string budget isn't exactly going to get a big budget game.
Most Power Ranger tie in games were either cheap side scroller beat 'em ups, or very poor attempts at action games. Also not helped is that most of these titles were released in the middle of their respective seasons, so you're not going to get the full story of the show. From what I can remember, I think the Ninja Storm and Samurai games were okay compared to the others, but the vast majority are just not worth playing. If you're willing to step outside of Power Rangers, the Jetman game is a half decent platformer (Though don't bother with the Zyuranger game). |
What do you think?
https://www.watchmojo.com/articles/1...-power-rangers Granted, most of this is well known material, but it does shed a little light on some of the details. Never knew they had to keep filming during the Northridge Earthquake of '94! |
Does anybody know what production companies are currently working on power rangers? Like, I know it's all under Hasbro, but beyond that I'm not sure.

Btw I finished Chroma Squad and it was awesome. |
Has it ever been revealed who did the packaging artwork for the original Mighty Morphin' toyline?
