Import fees causes prices to go up. I know the people who work at Image Anime for years and they are not a bunch of greddy scalpers.

I never said they were greedy scalpers, but they did charge insane prices for even domestic retail items like the legacy line. $500 for the tommy morpher while it was still on shelves 5 blocks away at ToysRUs. I understand they needed to make a profit, and pay for the inflated rent that a downtown retail space would cost in NYC, but sometimes their pricing on things really crossed the line, like when they actually did scalp on bluefin releases. The most recent one being the Best Selection Ultraman for $65, when as a Bluefin retailer, it should've been $35-$38. Im not saying they're greedy, and i understand why the price on non- bluefin imports is high, but on other things, the insane prices just make you wonder. Plus, a lot of their stock is off ebay. I've seen them get packages of product from Ebay all the time, i doubt the import cost are that bad when they buy stuff dirt cheap off there in bulk and resell at their crazy margins, especially the henshin trinkets.

They've even bought off other Bluefin retailers at cons and sold the products for insane markups at their stall. They cleared out a few stalls stock of Gp ride watches, at one con, for $6-$7 dollars each and resold at $18-$21 each at their stall. In my earlier comments i never insuated they were greedy scalpers, but their buisness practices really look it.

What happened to all the older users of the forum? Sentai Tamashii, Sentai, MoonBaseTom, Reigner, Shin Densetsu, Conundrum, Denshin, Kamen Rider Meteor, Gosei Wonder etc. One day they all just never logged back on and vanished from the forum.

So apparently parents in Japan are complaining that the new Demon Slayer movie is 'too violent' for children and that their kids can't sleep at night after seeing the movie because they're 'too scared' and stuff. Uh, yeah no dip Sherlock, why on earth would you bring your kids to see that?

You know that Demon Slayer is a Shonen Jump series, right? Shonen Jump stuff is aim towards childern. The series even has toys for childern to play with. Shows like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, etc in Japan are viewed no differently than how how most people view kids shows such as TMNT, Spongebob, etc in North America.

Yeah, but the show itself was quite bloody and macabre to begin with. You literally had Tanjiro at multiple points behead horrific monsters, in the most elaborate animated scenes, and then a rainfall of blood in a few of them. But the movie, which I've seen online, pretty much carries over everything from the show and just adds that extra dash of dynamic angles and framing, is scary to these kids and parents want to complain.

The movie is an extension of the show, if they think the movie is too scary for kids, their kids either don't watch the show, or they're senile. You can't just watch the show and get scared of the movie following the same format. That's asinine.

I feel this is either a PR stunt, or spurred by some alterior motive.

To your point of Shonen Jump being aimed towards kids, and these shows being viewed similarly to western children shows. Death Note, Shaman King, Bleach, D-Gray Man, etc.. were all Shonen Jump manga based tv series that were even more bloody and terrifying, on far greater levels, than Demon Slayer. The japanese have far more tolerance and freedom with their childrens televsion, often times showing death, horrific monsters, blood, murder. However, these shows are aimed at older children, the 12+ range. Kimetsu No Yaiba hides a lot of the graphic details well and has a cutesy art style, but its still scary. Its not meant for very young kids like the 3-9 year range. For them there's Dragon Ball, and other light hearted series. Most Shonen Jump series are for older children. Most of them literally have highschool aged characters.

It's more than likely the parents and young children never saw the show and just went to watch a movie, saw the cutesy art, and chose that movie, since most animated features are aimed at kids. Boy, they must've been suprised.

Japan does not seem to care as much when it comes to violence in kids media compare to North America. Their standards and practices are different given how their culture is different (For reasons I can't go into without talking about politics and religion).

From what I've been told, Demon Slayer has a later time slot than shows like Kamen Rider or Dragon Ball do. It is probably why the show is able to get away with bloody content.

Bad publicity is good marketing. People hearing controversy about something is going to make people to go see it.

Yeah, i heard that as well, but it still obscures the death itself by either focusing on a portion of the victim or obscuring it with the foreground. The only thing that childrens television can't show is a corpse and full on beheadings/graphic murder. Shows like this skate the line by oscuring things. Or alluding to them.

I don't get why Nintendo shutdown the tournament. I get they feel threatened because rollback netcode makes their delay based netcode look like garbage.

I guess more than anything, they're scared people will learn that they can do better, but don't want to, because they're cheap. Now they'v pretty much become full-blown totalitarian assholes who crackdown on anyone who tries to externally improve the experience or publicly defy them. Even going so far as to silence the splatoon community because their solidarity with the smash community, on a livestream, would make them look pretty shitty. Canceling it made them look even shittier.

Besides the netcode, i don't think they were employing any other mods, so it was a quality of experience thing. That makes it even more egregious that they charge so much for online, but deliver a discount store experience. Any other company would recognize their failings, maybe shut down ultimate (but not melee), and then either hire the guys to fix their own online, or improve it themselves. They've done stuff like this plenty of times after their online launch, still no improvements. So pretty much maintain systematic superiority by killing any and all alternatives, while doing nothing yourselves.

To kill melee was a step to far, its already legacy software that Nintendo has not done or plans to do anything with. To cancel that, is like a slap in the face to fans of the brand. There was no need, thats like if microsoft shut down OG Doom servers because of IP. Their IP, as well as their profits were unaffected by legacy users of melee, on the contrary, it did a good job boosting smashs' position in the professional fighting community, and thereby the wider gaming community. To kill that is an assault on your customers and the gaming community as a whole.

Well, two things are currently hitting the fan, the one im allowed to talk about is nintendo canceling a tournament for smash ultimate because they used a mod. Not a mod to alter the game, but one to fix the lag. The program was ironically named slippy, after the frog from starfox, and its creator worked full time all this year to finish it. What it did was use a type of netcode, called rollback netcode, to completely eliminate lag in matches, and had to be modded in. A lot of legit games use rollback netcode, but not Nintendo.

The controversy is not on them taking down the smash ultimate tournament, but going a step further and also taking down the smash melee tournament by the same group. This group is highly regarded and their tourneys the highlight of the melee community.

That incited rage in the melee community, which was pretty much built on quality of life mods for the game and online tourneys. They started the #freemeleee and then things really hit the fan when Nintendo canceled a splatoon 2 livestream tournament because the teams showed solidarity, through their names, with the smash community. 30% of the names referenced the smash cancellation.

And then another incident, which i can't talk about, Nintendo recently caused which put them in even deeper hot water. So they're pretty much being blasted on all cylinder by the gaming community at large atm.

I was gonna get Cyberpunk but hearing about how it runs poorly on PS4, I have decided to wait until I get PS5 next year. That is if I can beat cancer first.

Sighs...it really sucks not having your own room. I share a bedroom with my younger brother and everyday I have to put up with sleep deprivation because of all the noise he makes at night from playing mobas (and being really toxic at it) or talking to his girlfriend very loudly till past 3 am!!

Heck till just now I was sleeping peacefully when I got woken up by his panicked yelling on his phone because his girlfriend's house got caught in a fire. Though luckily after about 2 hours of tension, the fire went out and turns out their house only suffered a bit of external damage and no one died or got hurt as well.

Just hang in there. It's scientifically proven that one's mental state is linked to their physical health so always looks on the bright side and do things that'll keep you happy. Should give your recovery a bit of a boost.
