I watched the first 7 episodes of MMPR Season 2 today and did anyone ever realize that TOmmy's shield seems to be Composite Shield when he is in the command center? One side is completely round like the Jp shield while the other side still goes out straight and then curves.

Tommy's shield was always messed up in the PR footage. Made it even easier to spot the Sentai stuff. I think the story is that they didn't know about their being a another ranger until a couple weeks before they got to those episodes and so the suit was just rushed together.

So they didn't watch Zyuranger before they made Mighty Morphin? When they made Dragon Knight they watched through the whole of Ryuki and worked through how to make it work for an adaptation. I assumed Power Rangers did the same.

Dragon Knight was made 6 years after Ryuki though. MMPR came out a few months after Zyu finished.

Yeah but why would you adapt something you haven't seen...how can you get a feel for the show to know how to rework the footage for yours? No wonder MMPR feels like Saved By The Bell with random Japanese footage thrown in because it appears that is exactly what it is.

Because dinosaurs had a huge draw when it came to marketing?

I didn't say it was a good practice, I just don't think comparing the first show to adapt a Japanese one of that kind to one that did it over 15 years later with source material 6 years older is a very fair comparison.

It wasn't so much a comparison as an assumption as I assumed it was standard practice when reading about DK. Apparently not.

It's actually why they thought MegaRanger was a space series.
They never watched MegaRanger. They just watched promotional footage of the zords and assumed it was a space series, only realizing it wasn't when they began altering footage for In Space :p

Imagine how Time Force could have ended up if they kept doing this practice by then :lol
